So, Remix reveals are up!! I got three amazing stories from 3 of my favorite writers, WingedFlight, [personal profile] edenfalling , and [personal profile] syrena_of_the_lake

For the main exchange, Winged gave me the hilarious remix of the llamas on the lam.  Winged is so wry and clever and she just nails this story.

Alpaca Bag (the wayward llamas remix) (1055 words) by WingedFlight
Chapters: 1/1
Fandom: Chronicles of Narnia - C. S. Lewis
Rating: General Audiences
Warnings: Creator Chose Not To Use Archive Warnings
Characters: Susan Pevensie, Flax and Shadow
Additional Tags: llamas on the run, run llamas run
Summary:

Come now Gentle Beasts and Birds, Sons of Adam and Daughters of Eve, that might you hear the Tale of the Wayward Llamas. Stop and listen that you may also know of Flax the Brave and her mate Shadow, and how a Wrong Turn led to the Rescue of a Queen. Harken to me now.

And for remix madness,

Follow the Story (One Queen, Bearing Gifts) (1826 words) by Elizabeth Culmer

Summary:On Ramandu's island, Lucy and the Star's daughter speak of stories, choices, and new beginnings.

This is gorgeous.  I love how Liz gives the Star's daughter so much agency in her journey and choices.  It's lovely.

And then Syrena wrote a veritable tear-jerker with Jalur and the Cub.

Tiger burning bright (The "Acceptance of the Terms" Remix) (772 words) by Syrena_of_the_lake

Fandom: Chronicles of Narnia - All Media Types
Rating: General Audiences

I wrote 2 stories and Adaese guessed the first one and so she gets a ficlet!!! So let me know what you would like!!

The Peculiar Case Of The Man With The Missing Soul (the Turn! Turn! Turn! remix) (8651 words) by rthstewart
Chapters: 1/1
Fandom: Elementary (TV), Chalion Saga - Lois McMaster Bujold

Characters: Joan Watson (Elementary), Sherlock Holmes, Ms. Hudson (Elementary)
Additional Tags: Crossovers & Fandom Fusions, Alternate Universe - Modern Setting, Alternate Universe - Modern with Magic, The Bastard - Freeform, Case Fic, Character of Faith, Canon Trans Character
Summary:At first, Curtis Atherton's death appeared a simple suicide. Of course, nothing is simple when the Bastard is involved.  Sherlock Holmes, Doctor Joan Watson, and Ms. Hudson, Acolyte of the Bastard, are on the case.

I loved writing this story and really appreciated [personal profile] heliopausa for her help and her and Metonomia's beta assistance. It was a case fic, and long, which made it hard but the story, originally written for me at Yuletide, begged for expansion.

The second story was for the Lizzie Bennett Diaries and my thanks to [personal profile] syrena_of_the_lake  for the beta assistance. My recipient really liked it and I really enjoyed trying to write Darcy during the Netherfield arc. He's a fundamentally decent person but also an arrogant jerk so it was a challenge to balance the two.

clouds in my coffee (the diamond in the rough is looking so sparkly remix) (2296 words) by rthstewart
Chapters: 1/1
Fandom: Lizzie Bennet Diaries
Rating: Teen And Up Audiences
Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply
Relationships: Lizzie Bennet/William Darcy
Characters: Lizzie Bennet, William Darcy, Bing Lee, Caroline Lee, Jane Bennet
Additional Tags: Netherfield Arc
Summary:The thing about living with someone for an entire month who you are otherwise attempting to exorcise from your existence is that you learn all manner of things about her you could have gone your whole life without learning.

Elizabeth, having rather expected to affront him, was amazed at his gallantry; but there was a mixture of sweetness and archness in her manner which made it difficult for her to affront anybody; and Darcy had never been so bewitched by any woman as he was by her. He really believed, that were it not for the inferiority of her connections, he should be in some danger.
Pride and Prejudice, Chapter 10, by Jane Austen

So, I've been traveling and completely forgot to signal boost the Narnia Fic Exchange.  Sign ups close on Sunday and there are also sign ups for betas and pinch hitters.  It's awesome.  [personal profile] snacky  and [personal profile] aurilly are running it and you should really go play.
Sign ups are here and here on AO3.
Beta offers are here
Pinch hit offers are here

And I guess remix reveals are this weekend.  I mentioned I had 2 stories.  Been a bit of a bust, I guess, but if you can guess which ones I did, I'll write something!

Also, I visited the Joggins Fossil Cliffs and admit to rediscovering some inspiration from the great scientists who also found inspiration there.  So, I may try to pull something about that.  I'm not at all accustomed to walking a rocky shoreline and picking up fossils on the beach.  It was really amazing. (Just trying to figure out who would have gone there in TSG-verse?  Richard Russell?  With Polly?  With Mary?  Eustace? so many possibilities? in verse or AU verse?)  pay this no mind, move along, nothing to see here.  yet.

Gosh it's been awhile.

Remix madness has started!!! GO HERE. WRITE FUN THINGS BASED ON OTHER PEOPLE'S STORIES

I had 2 remix assignments and got both in on time, woot. Gosh, WHO WRITES 10,000 WORD REMIXES? ME OF COURSE. I'm an idiot. But you knew that. I'd love to get a madness in, I have an idea, but it may not happen -- we're off to Nova Scotia soon. cannot WAIT. I was so sad when the deadline closed because it once again appeared that the person assigned to me had defaulted -- omg I've got rthstewart, run like the wind.
But, a couple days later, a story did pop up so I'm VERY happy that someone did not run like the wind.

Work has been slow and boring and so taking forever to do and in my distraction, I managed to scrape up my car on a parking pylon garage pillar that leaped out at me. Grrr. Also, we may have to replace the car altogether so I got distracted looking at new cars and then got pissed off at car salesman. What about "only contact me by email" was unclear? Also, my spawn ran off to wilderness camp for a week without water bottles and I've been fretting about it.

I've seen Mad Max twice, LOVED IT. OMG GO SEE IT. I did not see Jurassic World though, of course, I love dinosaurs, because ehh. And I need to see the new Pixar movie, though I'm sure I'll cry through the whole thing. I saw the Rebels premiere and did enjoy it. I've not watched Orphan Black yet. I'm just tired of grimdark -- the world is such an awful horrible place from where I sit I look for true escapism from my Twitter feed and daily news. Why yes, hello depression, I've not missed you AT ALL. There was a fun article about the awesomeness of crows in WaPo here.

The post just went up announcing Remix 12: The Dirty Dozen. it's a great, great exchange and you can read about it here. I'm so glad it's happening again! With Remix, you get assigned a person and you get to redo in some fashion one of their stories.  Drabbles and 3SFs are a terrific base for remixing/expanding someone else's vision.  I've loved the stories I've received in the past.

Also, the Exchange at Fic Corner [community profile] fic_corner will be going live too. The Exchange at Fic Corner is a gift exchange for fic based on children's and YA books and short stories from picture books to edgy teen novels
