The post just went up announcing Remix 12: The Dirty Dozen. it's a great, great exchange and you can read about it here. I'm so glad it's happening again! With Remix, you get assigned a person and you get to redo in some fashion one of their stories. Drabbles and 3SFs are a terrific base for remixing/expanding someone else's vision. I've loved the stories I've received in the past.
Also, the Exchange at Fic Corner
fic_corner will be going live too. The Exchange at Fic Corner is a gift exchange for fic based on children's and YA books and short stories from picture books to edgy teen novels

The good news,

The C.S. Lewis Company has entered into an agreement with The Mark Gordon Company to jointly develop and produce The Chronicles of Narnia: The Silver Chair, the fourth book published in C.S. Lewis' famed fantasy series. The announcement was made today by The C.S. Lewis Company. Coming soon.net has the information here!
YES THERE WILL BE ANOTHER NARNIA MOVIE AND THIS MEANS A MASSIVE INFLUX OF JILL/PUDDLEGLUM/EUSTACE/RILIAN OT4 Am I right??
At one time, on NFFR we cast Anderson Cooper as Puddleglum and Misha Collins as the Warden and Michael Bay to direct. BOOM YES GIVE ME YOUR FRIVOLOUS CASTING SPOILERS
Also, the Fic Corner Exchange opened and I spotted 4 new Narnia stories, all lovely, and lots of other things.
The Narnia Fic Exchange is wrapping up and the madness round is starting. There's been a big drop off in FB so I hope you'll go and check out the stories and give them some love!
Cute Overload is sponsoring Tocktober -- adorable pictures of cute animals' 'tocks -- that is, buttocks.
The Bad and the Ugly, the US federal government shut down. Political rant: About 30 Republicans in the US House of Representatives have decided to shut down the US government rather than allow poor, uninsured people the opportunity to buy health insurance in government-sponsored exchanges. Because yes, it's better that poor people die of preventable disease than get to live and therefore potentially vote for a Democrat. /rant
No, my family is not personally affected as neither of us is subject to the current US government appropriations process. Many of our friends, colleagues, and family members are affected. My deep sympathies to any of you affected.

So I got almost 2000 words of introduction in my NFE this weekend, so go me, and really gosh I hope this works. Not to reveal too much but unlike previous years, I don't think this one is going to be screaming RUTH WAS HERE.
I've been following some Twitter and Pit hijinks. Oh Narnia fandom, you have changed. A really, really epically popular author of 2 years ago just posted an update and received not a single review. Not one. And how bad is it that each time
starbrow says oh here's a fic where Peter comforts Edmund after being whipped with a cat, I keep thinking felines and why would anyone do that to a pussy cat? I obviously do not have the proper mindset and fail at Internet.
BUT, two lovely things.
The Bujold 2013 Open Ficathon is now open from prompts, including Simon and Alys at the Orb, yes please. Kou as an electric eel? And I've recently suborned others to read Chalion so let's get some Chalion love going too, maybe.
And this is just the most wonderful exchange, with noms still be accepted until the 21 July. The Exchange at Fic Corner which is eligible for any fandom that was marketed to children or young adult literature/media, etc, regardless of size, so even Harry Potter is eligible. I nominated Narnia and am currently toying with some others. I need to give this some thought and post some questions to the mod because I have SO MANY kids' books that just beg for expansion and I've already commented in the wrong place once and feel guilty and ashamed because sometimes I am such a n00b.
I would dearly love to see the following nominated:
The timing on both of these can be fit within the NFE if you are in a creative mood. So, have at it!

I would dearly love to see the following nominated:
- Lloyd Alexander, Chronicles of Pyrdain
- Tangled
- Mr. Putter and Tabby (ZOMG wonderful children's early chapter book. Why the whole world does not the glories of the wild and crazy Mrs. Teaberry and her good dog, Zeke, I do not know)
- Richard Scary (come on, don't you want a story about Huckle, Lowly Worm, Goldbug and Sally on a road trip?)
- All the DK picture and board books I went through (Trucks, Trains, Fire Engines, Cars, "See, look at the yellow reticulated dump truck! Can you show me the red front end loader? Which is bigger, the backhoe digger or the crane?")
- Sandra Boynton, ALL (ALL THE HIPPOS GO BESERK-- one hippo all alone, calls two hippos on the phone. three hippos at the door bring along another four.)
The timing on both of these can be fit within the NFE if you are in a creative mood. So, have at it!
