What is the 3 Sentence Ficathon?
This is a challenge where you answer a prompt with a fic consisting of only three sentences. It's open to all fandoms and you can post and answer as many prompts as you like, as many times as you want.

What do I do first?
You can start 3SF by posting prompts! When posting a prompt please format it this way:

fandom, character(s), prompt word/sentence.

Only one prompt per comment please. So, for example,

Star Wars, Obi-Wan Kenobi, I don't like sand."

Open ended and anthropomorphic fills are popular too, such as:

Any, Any, "I don't like sand."

or

Earth geography, sand, "I don't like humans very much, either."

What else?
You answer other posters' prompts in three sentences (or more if you can't stop yourself) and fill as many prompts as you want, as many times as you wish. If you see that a prompt you loved has already been filled, go ahead and fill it again! Multiple fills of the same prompt are allowed and even encouraged! (We get really fun stories going this way).

Can I still post if I need more than 3 sentences? Or should I just abuse grammar in ways the English language never contemplated?

Can I spread the word?
Yes, please. I generally fail at creating banners and embed codes but if you create one and make it really idiot-proof, I might manage it. Or we can just cross-post. If you create one, I'll try to post it and everyone can use it.

How long will it go?
Until February 29, 2020. But the entry stays open permanently.

Are there any rules about cross-posting?
Nope, you can post wherever you want, whenever you want. A lot of folks collected their responses together and posted them on AO3 under the 3 sentence fiction tag. 3SFs are a terrific prompt for remixes and could be helpful for Yuletide bears, too.

What about spoilers, content and archive warnings, triggers, pairings, ratings, tags, and squick?

I thought a lot about this. It wasn't an issue the last 3 times I ran this. In my experience, this typically gets too big, moves too fast, and the stories are too short for content warnings and ratings to even apply. It is too big for me to moderate in this way. You should assume spoilers are fair game and that the initial poster and the responder have opted to use no content warnings or tags. This means AO3 content warnings for dubcon, violence, canon character death, underage, etc. COULD be present.  I've found personally that I can skim and scroll by stuff that, from the prompt, I can tell isn't my favorite flavor of delicious cake. Use your best judgment and be prepared to skip over things that aren't your thing. In this format, the obligation is on you, the reader, to protect yourself from triggering content.

Narnia; Susan Pevensie; there’s no problem with Susan

My first fill and already I fail at doing only 3 sentences. It's good to be back.

If you were to ask Susan Pevensie what her problem was, she'd tell you point blank that she didn't have one. Not to say she never had her troubles, but Susan--unlike some people--knew how to pick her battles, when to let a lost thing go, and how to pick herself back up again. Susan knew when she wasn't wanted and when to leave something that only caused her pain.

Susan was a realist and if that was a considered a problem, well, it was one she was glad to have.

Star Wars Sequel Trilogy, Master Organa, Sometimes there are things you can solve by blowing things up.

There are plenty of things that Master Organa taught her; how to keep fighting when you think all is lost, how to change a being's mind even without the Force, how to maintain your composure while you're fighting against a superior enemy.

Rey will remember all of those, but there's one thing Master Organa taught that was more important than any of the others; a lesson learned through a story from her younger days that no one else knew.

A damaged lightsaber may not be much use in a fight, but its components can still be used to blow your way out of a locked room.

ASOFAI, Sansa Stark, No Queen has clean hands.

She accepts Theon's vow and it comes as no surprise when he meets his demise; she wishes he'd made it past the night, that he'd lived to see her on a crown in the same castle everyone had seemed lost for them -but it is but a faint regret, compared to every bit of freedom she managed to claw back for her land, to the good he did for her family.

One taunt from her mouth is enough to send the Kingslayer on a frenzy to save his Queen; Brienne doesn't blame her, Tyrion doesn't blame her, and Sansa doesn't blame herself; yet there's the oddest of feelings on the pit of her stomach when she hears of how they we found and ballads in the name of their love start to sound across the continent.

A broken promise turns her brother into the worst kind of murder and she shushes any guilt as she carefully decides every detail of her coronation gown, the many ways she can honor her parents and create a kingdom in which every person she loves will be safe and find refuge -in the end, she knows the world born out of her betrayal is a better place.

(right after finishing I realized this said "ASOIAF" and not "GOT", but since I haven't read the books I hope you don't mind ^^U)

The king opens his arms in a shrug and looks to Aslan. The lion says, "Sometimes a death in one world is not a death in all worlds," and nods his head to the open door in the wall.

FE 3H, Ingrid/Claude, SO MANY SPOILERS

After the war, he winks at her and tells her, insouciant in that way that is sure to rub her the wrong way, "you should visit sometime!" and refuses to answer any of her questions - why are you leaving, you saved Fodlan what's there for you in Almyra, Claude answer my questions, why did you keep secrets from your allies, why are you like this - and smiles when he tells her goodbye.

There are no letters (they've never been close, and Ingrid is busy and Almyra is far; if Claude wrote, she has no doubt he'd find a way for his letters to reach her), but there's an official request for her to act as an ambassador ("I am no diplomat," she protests, but her queen tells her, "the king wants you, specifically", with an expression Ingrid knows better than to try and decipher); Ingrid's unsure she can do the task justice, but she has never met a duty she will not endeavor to perform to the best of her abilities and push herself in so doing, so she packs and goes - she knows hopelessly little about Almyra, so she pens a quick letter to Claude, who lives in the capitol, telling him of her mission and that she'd be grateful if he could show her around during her stay (she can hear his chuckle as she does, light and golden and faintly, annoyingly mocking, like he knows something you don't).

The king of Almyra sprawls in his throne when she's announced into the audience room, and he is dressed in silks golden like laughter and green like lies, and makes a show of straightening up when she comes closer; "hey, Ingrid," Claude greets, lazy and winking and with a smile, "long time no see; glad to have you here."

(only the thought she's here in an official, representative capacity prevents Ingrid from shouting at him right here and there until her cheeks are no longer warm; and what's more, the twinkle in his eyes says he knows it.)

Narnia, Rilian, patricide

He would move mountains, pebble by pebble, if his Lady asked; he'd pluck every songbird out of heaven if she wanted to use their blood to paint her toe nails.

Hacking down one old man is hardly a challenge, especially once the man opens his arms at the sight of him and falls to his knees before him.

A knight allows obeys his lady's request, even when his eyes weep for no reason he can remember as he does it.

Narnia/Game of Thrones, Sansa Stark/Peter Pevensie, no such thing as a fairy-tale prince

I love Peter/Sansa as much as Peter/Eowyn

The Narnians are straight out of a childhood fairytale and so strange with their bright banners and feathers, long teeth and longer knives, and cheerful songs growled and howled, they are unlike anything Sansa had ever imagined, could have ever imagined, though a lovely Wolf achingly like Lady in appearance takes a liking to her and deigns to follow her about offering both startingly astute advice and droll humours about her own – not country men — country-creatures.

The High King, though, Queen Sansa knows all too well and if she given him an, he’ll take her home, her body, and her country and the more golden he appears, the more tarnished he surely is on the inside; she readies herself for a wearying war at her own council table before the joined army of Narnia and the North can turn to repelling the real threat that has emerged between their countries.

When she begins arguing with the Narnian Generals – a Gryphon and a Centaur how can this be? – about a clever maneuver the Telmarines will surely anticipate, she readies herself for condescension disguised as courtesy as the High King interrupts, “Queen Sansa, you say you do not know arms and armament, and this may be true, but you plainly know how to win and we are great fools” and here he frowns at his advisors in ways that make ears droop and fur rise “if we do not heed your advice.”

"The following year," L3 continued, "he accepted a contract with a remnant of the Trade Federation, but..."

Star Wars, Ben Solo, I've been undercover a long time

This is admittedly a mostly lighthearted rewrite of That Scene in VII

His mother taught him the best lies have just enough truth in them that they take just a little too long to sort through to catch you in time; sometimes he forgets where Ben ends and Kylo Ren begins.

So when his father stands before him, finally trying to step in and stop him, part of him is just frustrated enough that actually running him through with the lightsaber--not somewhere actually vital, just enough to hurt--sounds pretty tempting.

Damnit, Dad, he thinks as he scrambles for a plan, I hope you appreciate how hard it is to fake a murder.

Still reverberating with its own echo, the horn dangled from Caspian’s fingers. “You are not King Peter, Queen Susan, King Edmund or Queen Lucy,” Caspian said (he tried to say it with princely certainty, but it came out as more of a plea).

“Not precisely, no,” slurred the apparition, “but I do know the queens, intimately — well, one of them intimately — and knowing them, with them knowing me, they’d say to play the cards you’ve been dealt until you can stack the deck in your favor, mate,” and Caspian was sure that an answer lay somewhere in that extraordinary speech if only his scrambled wits could catch hold of it, but sense (and the stranger’s every sentence) was as slippery as an eel.

Trevor, who had felt like he was slowly suffocating as they argued - sober! he had to listen to this bullshit sober! - has never been so glad to be facing an army of hellish beasts in his life.

“I can help with that, love,” offered Jack Sparrow, and Susan took a firm step out of reach.

“We haven’t time for that now,” she rebuked, “so that fancy hat of yours will have to do.”

“Of mine?!” squawked Sparrow, even as Susan whisked it off his head just before the first wild-eyed man crashed through the cabin window. Susan neatly sidestepped a cutlass thrust, tossed a curtain around the intruder’s head, and booted him back out the window. Lucy gave a yell of delight and jumped out the window into the fray.

“This is all a plot to get my hat, isn’t it?” Sparrow murmured in Susan’s ear.

“Don’t worry your pretty little head about it,” she said sweetly. “When we’ve won the battle, I expect my own hat.”

Their first kill together (their first *real* kill together, the Red Dragon a mess of self-defense and sadism) is exhilarating; Will stabbing the man as Hannibal pushes him down onto the cold grass, watching life trickle out of his eyes before Hannibal starts to taking his *trophies*. He can already picture the nice meal they'll make out of this man, as much as they've been exiled from Hannibal's expensive cookbook and utensils; as much as right now all they have is a little cabin in the woods and a wish to stay together for as long as they have time.

Will laughs as he cleans himself up of the blood, it all over his face, his knuckles, his fingers — he leans in to kiss Hannibal, who's just as bloodied as he is.

Blood from the man's gashed cheek dripped on the dust of the yard, and Philippa looked long at his rich (if disheveled) clothes and battered face before switching her deceptively placid gaze to her sister.

Edith knew it looked bad, but she couldn't stop the words from spilling out anyhow: "It wasn't my fault, he grabbed me from the left, you know how I am about that, and he didn't say who he was, and -- and -- and -- how was I to know he was the Narindan ambassador?"

Pathologic, Daniil, the road less traveled

Daniil is not alone on the train to meet with Isidor Burakh-a common laborer with delusions of eloquence, cramming his body in a casket with dirt under his fingernails and a face reddened from drink and hard living.

He is a man beneath notice, an entirely ordinary man who Dankosvky should have felt, at most, mild annoyance for-and yet somehow, he feels an absurd, overwhelming horror that he cannot explain.

"It'll be a long journey, fellow traveler-this train takes a different route than the usual, you know, an obscure one," the man tells him, shaking two pieces of bone ivory in his calloused palm, "Care for a game of dice?"

He'd always enjoyed listening to Marinette talk to herself while he listened in the roof, and over time, as his hearing had gotten even better, he'd heard many more things going on in Marinette's bedroom. He was too embarrassed to ask her about it until the day when, in the middle of a particularly inspired session (or so it sounded), she'd stopped and said very clearly:

"I know you can hear me, kitty, so get in here and see what you're missing."

Nyota watches and listens, making sure she knows everything that happens on her ship (and it is her ship, no matter what the Captain or the Chief Engineer thinks - she is the only one who can truly hear the Enterprise when she speaks).

She gathers secrets to her, not for blackmail (but she's not averse to that if the necessity arises), but to make sure that she can knows what is happening.

They fail to notice her when they talk - to them she is nothing more than a pretty face - but she listens, and she remembers, and she understands; and she'll be ready when the time comes.

ASoIaF/Game Of Thrones, Syrio Forel, fighting the good fight and winning

Syrio Forel could not find words to name the sense of deep satisfaction he felt as he watched Arya practice the moves he had taught her, but it was there, blooming warm in his heart. King's Landing was a pit of vipers, and the Starks were more used to wolves who attacked snarling from the front, not snakes who slithered from the shadows. If this young girl survived - and he hoped she would - it would be because he had given her the necessary tools.
