Signal Boost Bujold Ficathon; Exchange at Fic Corner

So I got almost 2000 words of introduction in my NFE this weekend, so go me, and really gosh I hope this works.  Not to reveal too much but unlike previous years, I don't think this one is going to be screaming RUTH WAS HERE.

I've been following some Twitter and Pit hijinks.  Oh Narnia fandom, you have changed.  A really, really epically popular author of 2 years ago just posted an update and received not a single review.  Not one.  And how bad is it that each time [personal profile] starbrow  says oh here's a fic where Peter comforts Edmund after being whipped with a cat, I keep thinking felines and why would anyone do that to a pussy cat?   I obviously do not have the proper mindset and fail at Internet.

BUT, two lovely things.

The Bujold 2013 Open Ficathon is now open from prompts, including Simon and Alys at the Orb, yes please.   Kou as an electric eel?   And I've recently suborned others to read Chalion so let's get some Chalion love going too, maybe.

And this is just the most wonderful exchange, with noms still be accepted until the 21 July.  The Exchange at Fic Corner which is eligible for any fandom that was marketed to children or young adult literature/media, etc, regardless of size, so even Harry Potter is eligible.  I nominated Narnia and am currently toying with some others.  I need to give this some thought and post some questions to the mod because I have SO MANY kids' books that just beg for expansion and I've already commented in the wrong place once and feel guilty and ashamed because sometimes I am such a n00b.

I would dearly love to see the following nominated:
  • Lloyd Alexander, Chronicles of Pyrdain
  • Tangled
  • Mr. Putter and Tabby (ZOMG wonderful children's early chapter book.  Why the whole world does not the glories of the wild and crazy Mrs. Teaberry and her good dog, Zeke, I do not know)
  • Richard Scary (come on, don't you want a story about Huckle, Lowly Worm, Goldbug and Sally on a road trip?)
  • All the DK picture and board books I went through (Trucks, Trains, Fire Engines, Cars, "See, look at the yellow reticulated dump truck!  Can you show me the red front end loader?  Which is bigger, the backhoe digger or the crane?")
  • Sandra Boynton, ALL (ALL THE HIPPOS GO BESERK-- one hippo all alone, calls two hippos on the phone.  three hippos at the door bring along another four.)

The timing on both of these can be fit within the NFE if you are in a creative mood.  So, have at it!

I considered nominating Prydain, but I haven't read it in years. And then I thought of two other books I wanted to nominate and had forgotten about until after the fact (Island of the Blue Dolphin, and Witch of Blackbird Pond), and alas but you cannot change your nominations once they have been accepted.

(PS - The mod is super nice and will not think you are a n00b for accidentally asking questions in the wrong place, but if you are feeling shy, I can pass them along for you.)

Gosh, I've been so out of it! I don't even know who's big in Narnia anymore, although if people are getting reviews for bizarre cat plot twists I'm not sure I want to.

Though I will say this for the Pit -- I haven't posted anything there in a loooong time and I still get reviews (though mainly for Harry Potter, now).

Prydain -- omg, those were the books with the pig and Taran and the red-headed sorceress girl and the shaggy creature who was super hungry and the king who wanted to be a bard, right? I looooved those.
