I'm cross-posting from [personal profile] wingedflight21  's LJ that the newly reconstituted Narnian Fanfiction Revolution (thanks [personal profile] songsmith !) is having movie re-watches and re-reads and you can read all about it on the NFFR Forum and on Winged's journal here.

Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] metonomia and [livejournal.com profile] lady_songsmith we may see the revitalization of a fun, creative Narnia community to try to replace the hole left by the loss of NFFR.  Check out [livejournal.com profile] nffr_party and Meto's post here.

Got a question?  Comment?  Rec?  Idea?  Excited about the new Who?  I hope to see you over there!

So, the Narnia Fic Exchange will be winding up soon.  I've really enjoyed so many of the stories.  Anon commenting is available, so do check them out.

In the Bujold community, Hedda62 just posted Further Up and Further In, a Betan Survey/Narnia cross over to fill the prompt:  You know all those Betan survey ships that go into wormholes and don’t come out? They go to Narnia. It's so much fun.  I really enjoyed it.

In recognition of some real ugliness and other things, [livejournal.com profile] lady_songsmith has started a new Comm, Marvelous Things Beyond Reckoning to promote the stories that celebrate "the diversity of vision in Narnia and the richness of the world."  Huzzah.  PM her with questions and suggestions.

The ugliness, more on that briefly, below, underscores how much I miss the Narnia Fanfiction Revolution community which had at its core a celebration of diversity and creativity.  It was that rare thing in the Narnia fandom, a community that did not tolerate intolerance.   Maybe, given that the films are over and the fandom is contracting again, there is no need for it and so its demise will pass unremarked.  Still, I miss it.  I know the technical skill to transfer the old site to the new server is beyond me and I really don't know anything about forum management.  If anyone has any thoughts on this -- is there a need for it, if so where, who, and how -- I welcome your thoughts.

I've been trying to write but have been badly distracted.  First, I managed to fall into a rabbit cage on to cement and now have bruises and cuts on both legs, knees, feet and one arm.  I have been Battered by bunnies.  School also started and so that is always a stressful time of year.  huzzah for a long weekend.

Second, I had a unsigned, anonymous review to I love not man the less but nature more.  Over the last day, I've been tinkering with a response.  There's a little more here, under the cut.  Please be warned -- this anon review and my discussion that follows contain horribly homophobic language bracketed by smileys.  If being labeled horrible things due to sexual orientation is triggering, stop now.

How did I become the poster child in the Narnia culture wars? )

With my previous post, which [livejournal.com profile] l_a_r_m has now dubbed Archivefail! nearing 100 comments, I'm going to stop commenting over there. I won't close the comments or anything. While I have thought for a while that aspects of the Narnia fandom were regrettably ripe for a wank, I did not think it would be this particular variety. I have it on good authority from [livejournal.com profile] snacky that even here we aren't there yet.

Admittedly someone trying to lecture [livejournal.com profile] snacky and [livejournal.com profile] cofax7 on the history of fandom is pretty funny. There has been some additional comment activity which [livejournal.com profile] lady_songsmith linked to which included an allegation of threats of exclusion from the fandom because the blogger told an author With Lots of Very Important Friends that I think the way they treat their readers is despicable.

I don't think that's me (I don't think I've been called despicable by a reader (yet)). But if it is, that means you all are Lots of Very Important Friends and I certainly agree with that.

So with that, prompts for Narnia Big Bang begin tomorrow!!! Are you thinking of prompts to help people get ideas? I posed some in NFFR chat last night:

Beaver ninjas
Gay giraffes (which I'm actually going to use in the next chapter of AW)
VE Day

Also, it looks like the NFFR AsCast will be getting going again. Thoughts? Suggestions? Ideas?

NFFR just posted 5 stories for their 2010-2011 fic contest.  They are all awesome and well worth a look.  Do go check them out!  Really, when you see what is here, it is so much a cut above the usual.  There's voting in a contest for your favorite as well.  Thanks to the awesome authors who wrote!

And another thing, if I'm receiving ff.net notifications, they are coming at least 24 hours late.  It is completely screwed up, so I really do not know who has seen it or who has seen my replies or really any communication that is ff.net related.  It is really bad and has been going on for 10 days now.  So, my apologies and I will find things if they are in reviews, though I have go looking for them, and may spot PM,s though those are getting lost too.

Really, it would be easier if just put the Narnia Fic Exchange Community on alert.  It's Day 2, it's Frank and Helen it just makes your teeth ache, it is so adorable.

I have 2, count em 2, stories in the exchange and I don't know when we'll see them posted.  One story will be posted a day, and their are 40 stories.  So settle in.  I had the privilege of beta-ing a few, and the quality is just so very, very good.

Also, I was on AsCast recently and did another 15 Minute Fic Round Up, with a whole slew of recs, which may be found here.

So, Irishsongbird over on NFFR has asked some questions about romance in Narnia fic and I thought I'd cross post over here.  If you want to post over there, great, or you can post here and she'll come and take a look and they might use the discussion on the next AsCast on June 1.

If anyone wants to pic this up and cross post elsewhere, please do so.

She asks as follows:

Hey guys! So, AsCast is recording its first summer Minisode on June 1st, and we want to hear from a bunch of others on our discussion topic before we record! Obviously, from the title of this thread, our topic is ROMANCE IN NARNIA.

I'll read through this thread before we record and use whatever comments I find particularly interesting/insightful on the show. To keep things more organized, I've come up with some questions to help you formulate your responses. Please use them since it will make organization easier for me! If you have other things to add that don't fit with the questions, state them AFTER you've answered the questions. You don't have to answer everything...give me only as much as you feel like!

1. Why do you think romance so prevalent in Narnia fanfic when the books have zero romance?
2. Does romance belong in Narnia? Why or why not?
3. What makes a Narnian romance good? (You may use specific examples from stories that you consider to be good, but NOT stories you consider to be bad because we don't want to do any bashing.)
4. General Spare 'Oom versus NARNIA romance...thoughts? Which do you prefer and why? Which one allows for greater freedom and interesting plots or characters?
6. Slash and incest in Narnia - this is a sensitive topic, so please be respectful in your responses, but feel free to state your opinions. Just be adult about it.
5. Is romance easier or harder to write than non-romance?
6. Do you read romance outside of fanfic or do you stay away from it?
7. Do you have any recommendations of good Narnia romance?

*I'm also going to PM various Narnia authors, romance and non-romance, with some of these questions to see what they have to say, so hopefully this will be a really interesting discussion to listen to!

I guested on AsCast #9 last week and the episode just went up with a terrific interview with   [livejournal.com profile] ilysia_039  At the end of the podcast, I did a Fandom 15, covering stories mentioned on Episode 9 of AsCast and others I've found.  These are stories that have come to my attention over the last month or two, stories through NFFR, my usual wanderings or  that seemed especially appropriate in light of  our Dawn Treader discussion.  It’s by no means all-inclusive but an awful lot of the ones I discussed and rec'd and mentioned are ones you all wrote!  Funny that.  I included stories by [livejournal.com profile] ilysia_039  [livejournal.com profile] be_themoon  [livejournal.com profile] autumnia [livejournal.com profile] elouise82 [livejournal.com profile] edenfalling   [livejournal.com profile] animus_wyrmis  and  [livejournal.com profile] anastigmatfic

You can see the whole entry here, but among the ones I discussed and rec'd:
