Hiding fandom in the underwear drawer since 1977

Given what my work life was like during most of NFE, I didn't sign up but did end up doing a pinch hit!

Jill Pole and Eustace Scrubb set out to find dragons in Spare Oom. Or, five times, Jill and Eustace find species of the genus Draco in Spare Oom and the sixth time they also find a dragon.

And the incomparable syrena_of_the_lake with the supremely talented animus_wyrmis and pencildragon wrote me a hilarious, but very personal story staring my Knight Errant, Thorin Corgishield. It's delightful and was deeply moving for me and a wonderful birthday gift. it's also an ongoing story, not strictly Narnia though Narnia inspired and very meta. Thorin consults with Eustace Scrubb and Reepicheep. It is inspired by Don Quixote, but as Thorin is a Corgi, is written as and for Corgijote.

Obviously, I need a month's vacation at the beach in order to regain my writing productivity. I'm still not as fast as I used to be but gosh it's wonderful to write again.  I just posted Chapter 3 of the Star Husband.

BUT... That story had always supposed to be 3 chapters, ending with Jill and Eustace in an AU vision in the early 1950s. However, things have happened and my thinking has changed and now I'll be adding a fourth chapter, ominously titled Further Up and Further In and, well, it's not what I expected, it's not I intended 10 years ago when I started this amazing journey but it's where I've decided to end up after receiving enormous insight and assistance from readers WHO STILL STOP BY and leave amazing comments after all this time.

Star Husband is now firmly in TSG and where Star Husband goes is where TSG ends up, though these last two chapters are told from Eustace and Jill's far more narrow viewpoint.  The final chapter 4 is about half done.  But eek, really need to get started on my Narnia Fic Exchange. 

So, if you are still there and still care, do let me know what you think!  Each chapter of this story is wildly different from the other.  I'd never thought I'd learn so much from the Mi'kmaq legend that I first read 3 years ago in Halifax.  But that's really a metaphor for this whole journey for me.  Thank you!

There are many stories about the love between humans and stars told in the folklore of the Mi'kmaq, a First Nations people indigenous to Canada's Atlantic Provinces and the Gaspé Peninsula of Quebec. Over 25 years and three visits to the Fossil Cliffs of Joggins, Nova Scotia, Polly, Lucy, Eustace and Jill all hear the Mi'kmaq tale of the Star Husband. As happens, each hears the same story and takes away a different understanding.

So, it all began with anastigmatfic writing Mary, Peter, Asim, Eustace, Alligator Snapping Turtles, and Alligators. It is wonderful, magnificent and awesome and it is right here.

And then the equally awesome lady_songsmith  wrote an absolutely hysterical (and M rated) follow on with Peter, Mary, herpetologist-supplied moonshine, and the leopard spotted undergarments Edmund had so thoughtfully packed for Peter. You can read and laugh here

I then wrote a follow on to that episode, playing with the idea that Eustace had a longstanding, unreciprocated crush on Mary written for reader Clairel in which Eustace shows up at Jill's door in Quebec.

But then OldFashionedGirl95 and Starbrow had some issues with that melancholy end and decided that in the TSG Everybody Lives Nobody Dies AU, something more needed to be told about Eustace and Jill.  And they started writing. 

So I redid and posted Hung Out To Dry which tweaks the Eustace and Jill Quebec story a bit (and thanks to all who reviewed and I'll be sending off my thanks now) and that story sets up the next chapter, which

(She's got a ton of meta in here and I just love the glimpses into some things -- also she is completely lying.  It's her work, not mine, and time and again she and Starbrow would ask me, "Well what about..." and I had no answer as, of course, everybody dies, so I have no head canon.  Except now we do.

So, go read and tell her how awesome she is!  And then Starbrow will write the NEXT chapter which is almost done and then I'll post something about errrr, Winning His Spurs, which is more about Peter, Mary, Georgia O'Keefe, Tolkien, and I try my hand at writing a fake editorial for the Sun.
