This one... hmmm. will, at some point, get a post all its own. I knew WingedFlight wanted witchy Jill and I had no idea until I read their Dear NFE Author that [personal profile] edenfalling liked my two stories with Letty and Mrs. Lefay and then Polly and Letty. This wasn't the story I'd intended but is much much better for it. To emphasize it is not part of my TSG series. It's a gift for two fabulous people and I hope they enjoyed it.

This one was for the wonderful [personal profile] syrena_of_the_lake for her birthday and guardyanangel and reader Eva. Eva had written me after the posting of the Star Husband really wanting some comfort for Susan -- even if some of her siblings return to Spare Oom, Susan herself has been deprived of the time with loved ones, the agency of making her decision, and the comfort of Aslan. Eva made a compelling case and several people have, over the years, wanted a scene with Susan and Lambert reunited. So, here we are.

I love this story. I mean, like I really, really love this story. It was a pairing that I'd never thought of but both [personal profile] vialethe and [personal profile] syrena_of_the_lake asked for it. I couldn't get it out of my head, which created immense conflict because I'd also just posted The Radiance Of Quenchless Fidelity Like A Star and so I was shipping OW with Padme too. I had a lot of conflict. I needed some help from WingedFlight, LARM and Pencildragon on where to end it. I have pages of notes and an additional 1500 words set right when Jedha City is annihilated and then after ROTJ. I'll post that but everyone agreed it was right to end with the Wood Between The Worlds.

Also, there is obviously this terrible subtext of people everywhere being starved for the simple touch of another.  I  hugged a friend yesterday and while I'm not in the fortress of solitude, I know so many who are.  That feeling is a big part of this too.

I had all this head canon involving Susan and her opinions -- how she goes to work for Mon Mothma, awkward conversations with Luke, her very low opinion of Cassian Andor AND SO MUCH MORE. Vialethe pointed out in the review the whole feeling that it's not a galaxy spanning romance but right place right time. And that's very true. I know the whole thing involving the contraception and such was weird but it had actually been there to build even more about how she's a complete ghost and therefore easy to slide into the intelligence network. That's how Ben discovers that there 's really no record of her anywhere -- sort of handled with the whole clinic thing. Again, kinda weird way to go about it but it's to further this idea that Susan can easily slide into the Rebel Intelligence,

Also, full disclosure, there was a time, after Phantom Menace, from 1999- to early 2001 where I wrote A LOT of Obi-Wan smut. He's been wrecking my life for 20 years. I thought this one might not be so obviously from me but I was informed that my complicated feelings about the rat bastard are so well known that it could only have been me. Ahem. Don't judge me OK? I've not written this much OW in over 20 years and it's been really, really horrifying to be back in this space, back in his pov, and oh star and skies, deliver me from this misery.
