caramelsilver ran one last year on Livejournal and I did two over here a few years ago. We'll keep it open until January 31, 2019 which should give everyone time to play a little. This is a delightful part of the online fandom community.


What is the 3 Sentence Ficathon?
This is a challenge where you answer a prompt with a fic consisting of only three sentences. It's open to all fandoms and you can post and answer as many prompts as you like, as many times as you want.

What do I do first?
You post prompts! When posting a prompt please format it this way:

fandom, character(s), prompt word/sentence.

Only one prompt per comment please.  So, for example,

Star Wars, Obi-Wan Kenobi, I don't like sand."

What else?
You answer other posters' prompts in three sentences (or more if you can't stop yourself) and fill as many prompts as you want, as many times as you wish. If you see that a prompt you loved has already been filled, go ahead and fill it again! Multiple fills of the same prompt are allowed and even encouraged!  (We get really fun stories going this way).

Can I still post if I need more than 3 sentences?  Or should I just abuse grammar in ways the English language never contemplated?

Tentatively, we'll close it on January 31, 2019. 

Are there any rules about cross-posting?
Nope, you can post wherever you want, whenever you want. A lot of folks collected their responses together and posted them on AO3 under the 3 sentence fiction tag. 3SFs are a terrific prompt for remixes and could be helpful for Yuletide bears, too.

What about spoilers, content warnings, triggers, pairings, ratings, tags, and squick?
I thought about this.  It wasn't an issue the last 2 times I ran this but times change.  In my experience, this typically gets too big, moves too fast, and the stories are too short for content warnings and ratings. You should assume spoilers are fair game and that the initial poster and responder have opted to use no content warnings or tags. I've found personally that I can skim by stuff that, from the prompt, I can tell isn't my favorite flavor of delicious cake. Use your best judgment and be prepared to skip over things that aren't your thing.

I feel terrible about this one but ...

It takes Lucas awhile to manage to get Max alone without the rest of the Party around. He has to find out if someone, anyone has the same misgivings about all of this that he has. Dustin would normally be a fellow voice of sanity on scientific grounds if nothing else, but Dustin is too desperate to get Steve back to care if anything they're doing is safe, sensible, or legal. Mike thinks Eleven can do anything if she puts her mind to it, including bringing back the dead, and Will's weird-o-meter is so firmly pegged to the extreme end of the scale that there's probably nothing that would faze him.

But Lucas has read way too many comics and stories about people who came back wrong to think this is a good idea at all.

And it's a huge relief when the first words out of Max's mouth are, "You think this is a bad idea too, right?"

Stumbling around Gotham happened more than anywhere else Jason had been, even weird stumbling covered in birds.

Muttering about brains though was kind of new but Jason has been dragged to far too many horror movies by Drake so there really was only one answer to this.

"We do not need a fucking Zombie apocalypse," Jason muttered he stared down the exploded remains of the head he'd just shot off.

Jake tensed as Tom gave him a brief and distant head scratch. It didn't help his attitude any to smell the warm dinner above, so mundane but balanced so far out of his reach.

Still, he supposed, it could be worse; the last time they'd "infiltrated" a family dinner, Ax in human morph had almost literally licked the platter clean.

Clint Barton doesn't have the same relentless mixture of fear and hatred toward ice that a couple of his teammates do, but all the same: he hates the cold, and he hates ice because it screws with his footing. Even with the cleats Tony'd added to the bottoms of his boots he still has to worry about falling, probably to his death at this point.

He huddles down into his parka, looking at the battlefield below and trying not to let Tony's arc reactor remind him of the coldness that had washed over him with the touch of a golden staff, what seems a lifetime ago.

Star Trek Voyager; Kathryn Janeway & or / Tom Paris; you have surprisingly poor navigation skills for a pilot

"Lieutentant Paris, are you aware that we have circled by this particular tree four times?" Kathryn asks, and her words have an unintended result of making her normally cocky pilot blush.

"Are you saying my navigation skills do not quite match my skills as a pilot?" Tom retorts, and there's a pleasant layer of freckles highlighted on his nose, made more obvious by the fact that they have been lost wondering beneath this planet's two suns all day.

Her response is cut short by the timely arrival of a small lizard that skitters across the ground in front of them; it brings reminders to Kathryn - and judging by the way his blush only deepens, to Tom as well.

"Well, Alucard, in light of Dracula's castle -- exploding? -- d'you want to come with us? You can clean up later."

"You know," Steve said, yanking his nail bat out of the monster's skull in a spray of gore, "when I said we should check out the night life around here, this wasn't really what I had in mind."

Jonathan laughed softly from where he was seated under a bar stool, a shower of broken mirrored glass scattered around him, and Steve breathed out a sigh of relief at the sound. There were flecks of abrasion scattered across Jonathan's face and arms, but if he was laughing it couldn't be that bad. "Well, we are in a bar. And nobody got eaten. That's sort of a win, right?"

"Only because they all ran screaming," Nancy interjected, kicking the last of the monsters over with her toe and holstering her gun. After a moment of consideration, she leaned over the bar and came back up with three longnecks hooked between her fingers. "At any rate, I think we've all earned a beer, don't you?"

Steve looked over at Barb quietly handed him a grenade while monsters growled softly somewhere ahead of them. Her expression was dark as she gave the weapon over to him.

"Do I want to know how you got this?" He asked immediately, wondering why she hadn't used it yet.

"No. Better that you don't, Steve," Barb answered with a shake of her head and grinned. "Best use it soon though if we want to meet up with the others."

The grenade and her grinning made him feel nervous in ways that he didn't understand, but Steve wanted to survive this more than he desired to know where she had found the explosive.

Trillions of souls shine, flow together in a river of power towards the source of it all--the last link, the true anchor of the stone, who sits huddled with her arms crossed around her legs, knuckles bloodied from her first, untamed anger.

She's felt this before, screamed under the weight of overwhelming power, but this time the stone is hers, and the cacophony quiets down under the surge of affection when she feels--oh, Peter, but he never could leave leave well alone.

The beat of old earth music pound through the walls of the universe as he watches her, mouth open like a fish, and she takes that power and shakes the walls until it splits into two, and his We should dance our way out follows their footsteps as they go.

Persephone suddenly turned and flung herself into his arms, her hands winding clingily into the cloth at the small of his back. "Wait for me?"

"Until the Styx runs dry." Hades promised through a painfully tight throat, closing his arms desperately around her in return.

They'd never got along in any case, Demeter standing with Hestia and fussing over home and hearth and children when the first appeared, and Hades and Hera always with their heads together dreaming themselves into kingdoms and onto thrones.
And he'd left, anyway, long before Demeter had had her daughter, and none of these bright young gods had had him for an uncle in any true fashion and he'd asked Zeus, whose was the permission that should have mattered, and he'd asked Persephone, whose was the permission that did.
But he'd been young in the dark confines of their father's belly, and Demeter had held his hands and sung to him of the earth above and its beauty and its kindness, and it hurt to watch her turn her face from him and hang onto his wife, her child, as though he had come thieving into her house.

Sheathed in the glare of many suns and the occasional light bulb, biding time, the ghost watches: his daughter, clinking glasses of victory in a circle of friends, or tabling a motion to pursue the remnants of his Empire--so like her mother, and he did not see when it mattered--crying, pulling the careful pins out her braids and placing them on a bedsite shrine before the soft glow of a scavenged holovid showing two people--child thieves--two dead that he does not care to look at.

When her boy is two, he leaves. He has not found the words, but if he had, he thinks--the only blessing she could accept would still be his absence.

Cliff knows that she only does it because she thinks he can't feel her. She makes herself invisible so he can't see, but the touch, though faint, is there around his shoulders and there's a coolness to it that makes it somehow less intrusive than any of the other hugs, the kind that he shrugs out of.

He knows she'll eventually find out, but he'll deal with telling her he knew all the time when that happens.

Blue-haired lord, pale-haired girl with dreamy eyes, the shadow of a dragon clawing at her dress; a paladin, more experienced, whose weapon will protect them until they’ve grown stronger; a lone swordsman you have to defeat to recruit, a haughty, outspoken, fearless girl who gives lashes with her tongue and heals with her staff; a fey-looking man, the prettiest that all have seen, blond-haired and delicate and his soul like a song strong as steel; a shapeshifter or two; the sisterhood of pegasus knights, and later, defecting from decadence, a wyvern knight wounded to their soul but recovering; the prickly thief jealously guarding that girl they’re close to (or looking after their boys); the bow-user who’s kind of a jerk, the paired cavaliers you can rely on; the mage who uses wind magic (is it an anima game ?) and the monk who uses light magic and there’s gotta be a dark magic user somewhere, and hang on, do you need promotion items in this game, how are you going to promote them all???

A continent at peace, neighbours cordial, until – until suddenly…
