caramelsilver ran one last year on Livejournal and I did two over here a few years ago. We'll keep it open until January 31, 2019 which should give everyone time to play a little. This is a delightful part of the online fandom community.


What is the 3 Sentence Ficathon?
This is a challenge where you answer a prompt with a fic consisting of only three sentences. It's open to all fandoms and you can post and answer as many prompts as you like, as many times as you want.

What do I do first?
You post prompts! When posting a prompt please format it this way:

fandom, character(s), prompt word/sentence.

Only one prompt per comment please.  So, for example,

Star Wars, Obi-Wan Kenobi, I don't like sand."

What else?
You answer other posters' prompts in three sentences (or more if you can't stop yourself) and fill as many prompts as you want, as many times as you wish. If you see that a prompt you loved has already been filled, go ahead and fill it again! Multiple fills of the same prompt are allowed and even encouraged!  (We get really fun stories going this way).

Can I still post if I need more than 3 sentences?  Or should I just abuse grammar in ways the English language never contemplated?

Tentatively, we'll close it on January 31, 2019. 

Are there any rules about cross-posting?
Nope, you can post wherever you want, whenever you want. A lot of folks collected their responses together and posted them on AO3 under the 3 sentence fiction tag. 3SFs are a terrific prompt for remixes and could be helpful for Yuletide bears, too.

What about spoilers, content warnings, triggers, pairings, ratings, tags, and squick?
I thought about this.  It wasn't an issue the last 2 times I ran this but times change.  In my experience, this typically gets too big, moves too fast, and the stories are too short for content warnings and ratings. You should assume spoilers are fair game and that the initial poster and responder have opted to use no content warnings or tags. I've found personally that I can skim by stuff that, from the prompt, I can tell isn't my favorite flavor of delicious cake. Use your best judgment and be prepared to skip over things that aren't your thing.

Looking back on the events that transpired in his newest adventure, Riku wondered if he had any regrets.

He was with Kairi now, she was pregnant with his child now, so those things he didn't regret at all, but yes there were a few.

Not saving Aqua from the Darkness way back when he had gone into the Realm of Darkness with King Mickey, and not saving Sora from that same Darkness, regretting not having pushed himself harder to fight to bring his friend back from that terrible fate when Dark Aqua had managed to corrupt his best friend, the one he had spent such a long time with, and until now he hadn't told Sora's mom everything, while knowing fully well that one day he was going to, well, no time like the present, he thought as he knocked on the door of the home he had spent so many hours at...

The best part of a new world, Sora thought, besides the breath-taking moment of first seeing it in the gummy ship, was how different each one was. Some had humans, some were full of talking animals, some were creepy or wet or cold or full of aliens--and Sora never knew what he was going to get from that first sight of the world. He'd grown up on an island where seasons barely happened and you knew everyone who lived there from birth; there was nothing more magical than discovering someplace different and meeting someone new.

She wonders, when she sees him again (finally, finally) how she never noticed when they were young the way that his shoulders twist so, obvious even through the muscle he’s built (swinging swords, she thinks, like the one he used in killing her husband, breaking her chains), even through the pains he takes with posture and position to hide it.

“Anne,” is all he says, quiet - and his voice is not as deep as she’s imagined it would have grown either, and his smile thinner, his hair all plastered to his head with sweat from his helmet.

And yet - “Anne,” he says again, and the look he gives her; oh, that she remembers well, and treasures, knowing he is her Richard still.

There was a small blond-haired child with the biggest blue eyes Eva had ever seen standing at her counter with a kitten in his arms. He had money on one fist, staring up at the assorted goodies behind the counter like they held the answers to the universe. "I want a really big thweet-roll," he said, "with frothting."

"Of course, sweetheart," Eva said, pulling out a roll from the display. "Are your parents around?"

"They're shopping. Wanna thee my kitten?" He held up the little bundle of black fur. The kitten purred so hard it was vibrating.

"Aww, it's very cute."

"He'th like my thon," the boy said with all the solemnity a small child could manage.

Eva melted a little; children and baby animals were peak adorable. "I'm sure he's going to grow into a big strong kitty, too. Here's your roll."

"Thankth!" the boy lisped, grinning with gapped teeth. He stretched and set the handful of money on the counter. "Ith that enough?"

It was just short of what the roll cost by a half penny, but Eva wasn't going to tell him that, not with those big blue eyes looking at her so earnestly. "All good! Have a nice day, honey!"

"Thankth, ma'am," he said with perfect little manners, leaving with his kitten in one arm and his sweet roll in the other.

Eva smiled after him, the encounter buoying her mood on an otherwise dull Sunday afternoon. At least until a few minutes later when a frazzled woman with reddish hair escaping from her hat every which way burst into the shop.

"Have you seen a child? Blond with a kitten?" the woman asked, sounding a bit desperate.

"Yes, just a bit ago. He bought a sweet roll." Clearly this must be his mother and he had wandered off instead of having permission. "He turned right when he left."

"Thank you!" the woman said before rushing back out. Eva could swear she heard her say something about feeding fancy shoes to someone. Eva had the distinct feeling that she didn't want to know. Hopefully that poor woman found her son. He'd been such a sweet boy after all.

Shiro lies awake and watches Keith sleep, thinking of the day's events and how easily Keith had commanded everyone's attention; they knew what Shiro had known long ago, and that is that Keith is an incredibly easy person to love and want in your life.

Shiro knows that it is utter selfishness to hold on to someone who could easily be loved by anyone in the entire galaxy, many of whom would be the kind of amazing that Keith deserves.

But that level of selfishness is not a personality flaw that Keith plans on fixing anytime soon.

Wednesday never understood how her mother could befriend a vampire and never once react to the obvious fact that wasn't wine in Lily's glass- she always just shook her head and poured more from the special decanter Mrs. Munster presented her.

She hadn't thought of those visits in years- she hadn't needed to since they'd stopped once Lily got busy and Morticia had to focus more on the house.

Now, as she stood surrounded by the black roses, she shook her head as she noticed the woman stepping into the parlor. She hadn't told Lily of her mother's passing and yet...

"My Dear Wednesday, I am so sorry to hear about Morticia. She was a dear friend- up until the end. We go all the way back." Lily, still looking as young as she had all those years ago, opened her arms and willed Wednesday to accept the hug.

Against her better judgment, Wednesday accepted the embrace. Mrs. Munster still smelled of roses, just as she had all those years earlier.
