You may continue to fill prompts (but not leave new ones) at the original Post 1 here but please post new prompts here, not there.  And if you're asking, hey is just me, or did this get enormous really fast? Why yes, yes it did.  Last year, it took us ten days before I opened a new post.  This year, it took us about 5.5 days to get there.  So, by all means, go back and fill in Post 1 and post new prompts here!

Also woops, in an indication of how busy I've been with other things, I neglected to post that for a third year in a row the awesome conuly  started a master list of unclaimed prompts and has been updating it as time permits.  Obviously a huge task! Thank you!

What is the 3 Sentence Ficathon?
This is an open exchange where you answer a prompt with a fic consisting of only three sentences. It's open to all fandoms and you can post and fill as many prompts as you like, as many times as you want.

What do I do first?
You can start 3SF by posting prompts! When posting a prompt please format it this way:

fandom, character(s), prompt word/sentence.

Only one prompt per comment please. So, for example,

Star Wars, Obi-Wan Kenobi, I don't like sand."

Open ended and anthropomorphic fills are popular too, such as:

Any, Any, "I don't like sand."

or

Earth geography, sand, "I don't like humans very much, either."

What happens after that?
You answer other posters' prompts in three sentences (or more if you can't stop yourself) and fill as many prompts as you want, as many times as you wish. If you see that a prompt you loved has already been filled, go ahead and fill it again! Multiple fills of the same prompt are allowed and even encouraged! (We get really fun stories going this way).

Can I still post if I need more than 3 sentences? Or should I just abuse grammar in ways the English language never contemplated?

I'm really overwhelmed by all the prompts and how much there is and how fast it goes. I can't read 1,000 prompts and fills. It's too much.
I hear this a lot and it keeps a lot of people from participating. The 3SF is big and it moves fast, especially at first. I get overwhelmed, too, and I'm hosting the thing. With 2020 and 2021 sucking so badly you don't want something that's supposed to be fun cause you anxiety. I have a couple of suggestions for managing the 3SF volume.

• First, really, you don't have to read every prompt and fill on every page. You can start at the last page of this and just go forward, or back a page or two. It's fine.
  
• You can come and go as time and energy allow, you don't have to participate the whole time, and it drops off quite at bit after about 2 weeks and especially once we open a new post because this one is approaching 4,500 comments.
• Even after the 3SF and new prompting end, people fill prompts all year long.
• You can fill an already filled prompt and you can can leave a prompt that's already been prompted before. People do it all the time.

Always make sure you're looking at top-level comments only, not threaded. That helps a lot. Your screen should look like this.




But shouldn't I read everything to see if someone already prompted the same prompt I want to leave if someone already filled it?
No. Prompt as many times as you want, as much as you want. It doesn't matter if someone prompted the exact same prompt. Go ahead and prompt again!

I left a prompt and no one filled it. Can I prompt it again?
Absolutely!

Can I spread the word?
Yes, please. I generally fail at creating banners and embed codes but if you create one and make it really idiot-proof, I might be able to post and share it. Feel free to cross-post this entry. If you create your own banners or icons, let me know and I'll share!

How long will it go?
The 3SF closes to new prompts on February 13, 2022. The entry stays open permanently and people post fills all year long. (There were a bunch of new posts to the 2021 3SF this week!)

Are there any rules about cross-posting?
Nope, you can post wherever you want, whenever you want. A lot of folks collected their responses together and posted them on AO3 under the 3 sentence fiction tag. 3SFs are a terrific prompt for remixes and could be helpful for Yuletide bears, too.

What about spoilers, content and archive warnings, triggers, pairings, ratings, tags, and squick?

I thought a lot about this. It boils down to reader beware. In my experience, this typically gets too big, moves too fast, and the stories are too short for content warnings and ratings to even apply. It is too big for me to moderate in this way. You should assume spoilers are fair game and that the initial poster and the responder have opted to use no content warnings or tags. This means AO3 content warnings for dubcon, violence, canon character death, underage, etc. COULD be present (and much more). I've found personally that I can skim and scroll by stuff that, from the prompt, I can tell isn't my favorite flavor of delicious cake. Use your best judgment, protect yourself, and be prepared to skip over things that aren't your thing. In this format, the obligation is on you, the reader, to protect yourself from triggering content.
Some posters do include warnings and spoiler tags or include spoiler space, but they don't have to do so.


Why is 3SF split among several posts? That seems confusing.
It is confusing and we always lose momentum once we have to move to a second post. The reason is because at 5,000 comments to a single post, DW installs a human test CAPTCHA, which is a pain for users. So, once this entry gets to the upper 4,000 comments, I open a new post. If you've been waiting until things slow down to participate, when we open a second post is often a good place to join.

[Ups my hand slipped and this got longer than intended.]

Month has passed Alexander was still unable to understand that his beloved John would never return to him.
He worked even more than before, forced himself to stay awake until he would fall asleep on his desk. He didn't wanted to sleep because in his dreams he would meet him and for the duration of dreaming he would be alright but waking up was always a painful experience.

Alexander did his best to hide his grief from everyone, to his own surprise he was successful. Even Eliza couldn't look behind the mask he was wearing, their lives went on, months turned into years.

Yet in some moments the loss was as fresh as if he had just received the news of John passing away.
Alexander was busy drafting some article for the Federal Papers, he leaned back on his chair, letting his gaze wander of the bookshelf. Suddenly one book in particular caught his attention. He literally jumped from his chair and made his way to the bookshelf with large steps. As soon as he held the book in his hands, Alexander knew what would await him, if he would open it.

Between the pages one of the letters John had send him was hidden. It was one of the sweetest letter Alexander had received and therefore he had seen it fit to hide it in one of his favorite books.

While he held the letter in his hands, it was as if he could hear John's voice, pleading that he shouldn't let grief eat his heart. He should think of him fondly and remember their time together.

Kurt finds the message months after it was written. He'd finally worked up the energy to go through Finn's personal email account (when they'd divided tasks, Carole had claimed his school email and Burt his work email, leaving Kurt responsible for his personal email), though he doubted he would have any energy left when he was done (he almost wished he drank alcohol, just to make this easier).

The message was in the drafts folder, composed only days before Finn's death and about nothing in particular, just rambles about college and glee club and life and there's a sale on that thing you wanted last time you were here so I made sure to get you one and I'm going to be part of your wedding, right and a thousand other little things ending with I love you, dude and Kurt breaks down because his brother sent a message to the future without even knowing it, telling Kurt exactly what he needed to hear, in such a perfectly imperfect way that was so Finn Hudson it almost hurt.

Phupha is out late on a risky patrol - they’ve had word of poachers - and Tian is channeling his nervous energy into tidying their small space when he gets into a scuffle with a stuck drawer.

When he finally wins the battle, papers come flying out, all covered in Phupha’s handwriting: we had Ab Ong Or at Khama’s today, Meejoo asks us so many questions I wish you were here to answer, Khaoneung is perfecting his omelet recipe, what do you think of us living off base someday - no electricity, but more privacy, I miss the scent of you.

He’s sitting on the floor, surrounded by two years of longing when Phupha returns, tired but safe, pulls him to his feet, and takes him to bed.

Rodya doesn't really keep track of how long it's been since she saw Hanafuda-she's a busy woman, that one, since the Nest never sleeps(no Sweepers for them to worry about)-but eventually she notices it's been two weeks and she still hasn't shown up at the bar-it's a casino too, everything's a casino in District 10-where she drinks with Rodya.

Rodya asks around a bit, and learns she bit it on a side job-trying to get the resources to move to a Nest that isn't J(That's District 10 for you-so shit even the damn Nest is shit), which isn't fair, really, since Hanafuda'd even told her that she expected to die when a deal she was supposed to be dealing with went wrong and an angry Nest liver shot her-if you spend your whole life doing something dangerous, it's bullshit when you die a completely different way. But she pours a drink out for the old bat anyway-and then gets kicked out of the bar for getting the floor dirty because the owner's a right bastard these days.

Aravis rode to the border of Archenland sometimes, and she and Hwin would stand upon the hills that girded the Winding River and look out across the vast desert to Aravis’ home—and it was still home to Aravis; it always would be, though she had chosen the northern lands as her home, learned their customs, and been marked by the Lion—but she knew that none would now accept her, traitor and apostate, in her childhood home.

It was easy to escape Anvard to ride to the borders of the kingdom; aside from Cor, Corin, and King Lune, few wished to associate with a Calormene, chosen though she was by the Lion and assured by King Lune that Anvard would always be a home to her, and she could often slip into the shadows of the forest unnoticed and unchallenged and ride through the hills and gullies that rippled out to touch the border of the kingdom.

And sometimes as she rode through the wilderness between the two places she called home, Aravis felt as if she had no home at all, no home except the wild, lonely lands in between.

Fun fact 1: Patrick Fiori (Captain Phoebus in "Notre-Dame de Paris") and Julie Zenatti (Fleur-de-Lys and later Esmeralda in the same musical) sang the French version of the theme song from Disney's BATB for the 2002 re-release of the film.
Fun fact 2: Belle made a cameo appearance in the "Out There" sequence in HOND. Maybe she used the magical book that could be seen in the 2017 live-action BATB remake?

I really hope someone feels inspired to fill this prompt because:
1) I think the actor who plays the Beast/Prince in the 2017 BATB version looks so much more like Disney's version Phoebus than like Prince Adam.
2) I fell in love with this ship when I watched the fanvideo "Spark" by a user called Sascha Denker.

Qin Wanyue had only read Proud Immortal Demon Way because she'd heard it had the highest count of cunnilingus scenes in any novel published that year, somewhere between twenty-five and thirty, and look, it may have been hetero pussy-eating and Qin Wanyue was not remotely interested in men, but a girl has needs, okay??

She certainly hadn't expected to transmigrate into the soppy, pushover sister who had somehow managed to take the protagonist's virginity, but hey, small blessings, at least this seemed to be some kind of a weird AU where the protagonist was gay too (high five, Bing-ge), so she wouldn't actually have to fuck him.

She did get bullied daily by her favourite character, and honestly there were only so many times she could get kabedoned by Ling-er (the star of at least three separate cunnilingus scenes in PIDW) before she'd sink to her knees and beg for a taste, and it seemed for once her sorry luck actually held as Sha Hualing smiled a slow smile and grabbed the back of Qin Wanyue's head possessively, whispering, "I knew it."

It doesn’t mean he’s poison, it doesn’t mean he’s failed at being the son his father hoped for, all it means is that he’s human, and Reynaldo will be here with him through every overwhelming feeling, until, someday, he reaches one that doesn’t hurt so bad.
