Birthday Bacchanal and Remix!
So a whole bunch of my favorite people in the world flew into town to celebrate my birthday. We went to a Renn Festival, played Cards Against Humanity with our own "edits" as in black card, "What do they teach in these...." and answers such as "Wild Dryad Tree Sex" and "Further Up and Further In." You get the picture.
And we found a bottle of Cabernet wine bearing the "Edmundo" label and of course bought it! And drank it. Then went back and got some more. 3 bottles of Edmund were spent. AND WE NEED FIC ABOUT EDMUND RETIRING TO RUN A VINEYARD AND BACCHUS COMING TO VISIT.
Someone gave a presentation on BTS. We baked a lot and ate an enormous quantity of carbohydrates. It was AMAZING.
One gift was, no lie, a Narniapoly -- Monopoly style board game with spaces such as "Otter Romp. lose 75 Turkish Delight" and "You've been audited by a Lone Island Banker, pay 25 Turkish Delight."It is AMAZING. Pictures below, with 3D printed figurines including a Gryphon, a Welsh Corgi, Aslan, Susan, Lucy, and Tumnus.
We had two baristas who made amazing drinks with whip and caramel and froth and espresso shots.
It was so, so wonderful and I have the best time and we all of course want to do it again IMMEDIATELY.
Everyone was vaxed by the way and we all tested, either before leaving home or rapid tests at the AMAZING rental house. Some pics below. They got me a crown. I cried many times.
And I encourage everyone to check out remix that went live!! ( I STILL OWE REVIEWS OF NFE. So far behind. ACK). There are some lovely stories by Nasimwrites, Vialethe wingedflight, embraidery, Liz Culmer and other favorites.
I wrote a thing for the incomparable and amazing syrena_of_the_lake and it's part of the "museum-verse" Narnia AU thatsnacky started. I had so much fun with it. Syrena has written for me for remix at least twice,
I received a notice that my Maenad of the Maquis was remixed. I won't say it was a gift as those who contributed to it are very clear that remix isn't a gift exchange but rather a challenge for the author to meet, and it was certainly a challenge for the author based upon their notes. It's a significant re-imagining of Maenad that involves, among other things, eliminating the female OC, replacing the M/F with M/M, moving Peter into the role of the eliminated FOC, and then introducing a MOC love interest. And yes, the mod approved these changes, at least as was presented to them. Still not sure about all of that and it spilled over into the fandom fail DW comm. Also the story is Last Battle compliant with everyone dead and Biblically focused with a sort of retelling of David and Jonathan from the Book of Samuel. It is very different from the original but it might be a flavor of cake you will enjoy. You can find it here -- like the original rated M for sexual content.
