caramelsilver ran one last year on Livejournal and I did two over here a few years ago. We'll keep it open until January 31, 2019 which should give everyone time to play a little. This is a delightful part of the online fandom community.


What is the 3 Sentence Ficathon?
This is a challenge where you answer a prompt with a fic consisting of only three sentences. It's open to all fandoms and you can post and answer as many prompts as you like, as many times as you want.

What do I do first?
You post prompts! When posting a prompt please format it this way:

fandom, character(s), prompt word/sentence.

Only one prompt per comment please.  So, for example,

Star Wars, Obi-Wan Kenobi, I don't like sand."

What else?
You answer other posters' prompts in three sentences (or more if you can't stop yourself) and fill as many prompts as you want, as many times as you wish. If you see that a prompt you loved has already been filled, go ahead and fill it again! Multiple fills of the same prompt are allowed and even encouraged!  (We get really fun stories going this way).

Can I still post if I need more than 3 sentences?  Or should I just abuse grammar in ways the English language never contemplated?

How long will it go?
Tentatively, we'll close it on January 31, 2019. 

Are there any rules about cross-posting?
Nope, you can post wherever you want, whenever you want. A lot of folks collected their responses together and posted them on AO3 under the 3 sentence fiction tag. 3SFs are a terrific prompt for remixes and could be helpful for Yuletide bears, too.

What about spoilers, content warnings, triggers, pairings, ratings, tags, and squick?
I thought about this.  It wasn't an issue the last 2 times I ran this but times change.  In my experience, this typically gets too big, moves too fast, and the stories are too short for content warnings and ratings. You should assume spoilers are fair game and that the initial poster and responder have opted to use no content warnings or tags. I've found personally that I can skim by stuff that, from the prompt, I can tell isn't my favorite flavor of delicious cake. Use your best judgment and be prepared to skip over things that aren't your thing.

Though it had been her proposal, Keyleth only spends a moment inside the ballroom before regretting every single decision that has led to this colossal mistake.

It’s beautiful, and overwhelming, and vast, and magnificent, but it’s Vex who inspires her regret: Vex who is radiant, and stunning, and bestows magnanimous smiles like this was the life into which she was born.

Keyleth cannot imagine that it makes for a convincing sight, nor who would believe Lady Vex’ahlia’s...wife (Keyleth tries to think, calmly) is the woman on her arm — the one who nearly breaks into interpretive dance five minutes after their arrival, and whose attempts at Gnomish compliments result in a very confused man wondering what it is his hair could possibly have in common with a snail.

Vex has their quarry thoroughly charmed in minutes, and surely everyone in a ten-foot radius as well — through nothing but the sheer force of her charisma, a well-timed smile, and a dress that makes the thought of looking anywhere else impossible.

“That was,” Keyleth begins as they retreat from the dance floor, stops. Starts. “You were — I mean — wow.”

“By which you mean to say you might have chosen the wrong twin after all?” Vex asks, mischievous and bright-eyed with the night’s success; when she leans in to press a lingering kiss to Keyleth’s cheek, Keyleth flushes so thoroughly she stops wondering who might not be convinced at all.

Legacies, Alaric

He could do with Caroline or Elena here right now, Alaric thinks as he watches Kaleb leading MG down the path of his first taste of human blood.

They were the ones who'd been there for Stefan as he'd dealt with his own lust for human blood, as Damon and Klaus had led him down that path, and they would be the ones who would know how to help him to help MG now.

It's down to Alaric now to do what he can to help MG, to handle Kaleb, to support Dorian through dealing with his own memories that that had triggered, and he will do the best he can, so that MG doesn't become Ripper!Stefan all over again.

Later Anne couldn´t say where she lost her gloves (not that it suprised Marilla, still she hoped for some sense), and she hardly noticed the pain as Marilla graps her hands and starts rubbing life back into them.
Annes eyes shine, while she talks about the songs they sung abd stars and snow catched in Dianas raven black hair "Do you think, Marilla, that I too, could one day have this, and not be forever burdend with this carotte red, for christmas at least, or would that be a horrible thing to wish for?" till she falls silent. Walking with Diana Anne had felt light enough to fly away but now her body is heavy with sleep, and her eyes fall shut without saying her prayers - Marilla let her.

(English isnt my first language so I hope this makes sense? I read this prompt and my heart was just full of the image of Anne thinking Diana looks cute with her red cheeks and feeling all poetic about singing, snow and stars.)

Nebula is moments from death when she's pulled through the airlock, but the "You should've let me die" that she manages to rasp out between her wheezing is clear.

Gamora feels her jaw begin to clench, because even if she'll never provide the satisfaction of showing it, she knows her sister is right; it'd been a stupid decision, and sooner rather than later, it's going to cost her. She turns from view, and says, voice even, "Next time, I will."

The thing is, it doesn't ever really go away. Jonathan will be twenty, twenty-five, thirty years old and some part of him will always flinch when someone raises their hand in just the wrong way, will always reflexively duck when a door slams hard in his vicinity.

It doesn't ever really go away, but when he loops an arm around Will's shoulders and ruffles his hair while all around them the Hawkins High Class of '89 tosses their mortarboards toward the scorching blue sky, Lonnie Byers is barely even a distant stain on the far edges of his mind.

Lost, Liam

It's a fucking joke, Liam thinks as he hears You All Everybody on the radio for the umpteenth time and reaches to switch it off.

All Charlie had ever wanted was for DriveSHAFT to become a household name, for everyone to be singing their songs, and the thing that finally led to that was the disappearance of Oceanic Flight 815, the song's everywhere now, and he's not even here to see it.

When Liam hears the song, he thinks about how he tried to take over the chorus to the song at that concert, how that had led Charlie to try the heroin for the first time, how it had been the beginning of the end for the band, for them, how he messed up and is never going to get to make things right.

god, I love both of them: Nebula's bull terrier stubbornness and Gamora's total inability to consciously trust Nebula or actually let her die. I kind of love it. I love both of them.

Fill: Magical Diary, Minnie

Technically you can avoid the worst ending on any path, you just need to be Treasurer, but this time you'd rather it be Ellen. Just this one playthrough, and then your next Mary Sue will be back to getting out of bed at forsaken hours on Saturday mornings. It's not real. You can do it.

Or you could join the Rose and Wasp, too. It's a messy solution, but it's not the worst.

But this playthrough... well, you're not feeling it. This playthrough you want to romance Virginia with as little fuss as possible.

Still. When Kyo serenades Minnie, and everyone finds it cute, even you - the MC - finds it cute, you can't help but wince.

You stop going to the library around the same time Minnie does, too, but you feel a little guilty, a little queasy. (A little promising yourself you're never doing a playthrough without being at least in the Rose and Wasp again.)

On April 13, when Kyo and Minnie get back together, you stop playing for a moment.

Diaval twitched at the words - even more at the sage tone in which they were delivered - and bit back an insult as he resettled his wings, glaring down at the know-nothing little sprites pitying his Mistress; as though they hadn't first condemned her before fleeing to shelter beneath the mantle of her wings when threatened, then returned to judging her.

Diaval croaked and dove from his perch right between the sprites before soaring away, laughing to himself at their high-pitched screeches.

And hey, Shiro's no fool. ;) It is, isn't it? That phrase may stick around in my writing Allura in future, heh. As kind as she can be, and diplomatic/good at politics, she is also scary!

I watched it - the original/first season anyway - with my friend mad_madam_m last year after we were both watching VLD and we got through it only by screaming at each other a lot. *coughs* And because we enjoy terrible television. And man I super want a crossover where the '80s Voltron team falls onto the VLD Castle of Lions so badly I may have to write it myself at some point.
