caramelsilver ran one last year on Livejournal and I did two over here a few years ago. We'll keep it open until January 31, 2019 which should give everyone time to play a little. This is a delightful part of the online fandom community.

What is the 3 Sentence Ficathon?
This is a challenge where you answer a prompt with a fic consisting of only three sentences. It's open to all fandoms and you can post and answer as many prompts as you like, as many times as you want.

What do I do first?
You post prompts! When posting a prompt please format it this way:

fandom, character(s), prompt word/sentence.

Only one prompt per comment please. So, for example,

Star Wars, Obi-Wan Kenobi, I don't like sand."

What else?
You answer other posters' prompts in three sentences (or more if you can't stop yourself) and fill as many prompts as you want, as many times as you wish. If you see that a prompt you loved has already been filled, go ahead and fill it again! Multiple fills of the same prompt are allowed and even encouraged! (We get really fun stories going this way).

Can I still post if I need more than 3 sentences? Or should I just abuse grammar in ways the English language never contemplated?

Yes, please. I'd love to create a nifty banner with an embed code but I fail at it. So if you create one, I'll post it and everyone can use it.

Tentatively, we'll close it on January 31, 2019.

Are there any rules about cross-posting?
Nope, you can post wherever you want, whenever you want. A lot of folks collected their responses together and posted them on AO3 under the 3 sentence fiction tag. 3SFs are a terrific prompt for remixes and could be helpful for Yuletide bears, too.

What about spoilers, content warnings, triggers, pairings, ratings, tags, and squick?
I thought about this. It wasn't an issue the last 2 times I ran this but times change. In my experience, this typically gets too big, moves too fast, and the stories are too short for content warnings and ratings. You should assume spoilers are fair game and that the initial poster and responder have opted to use no content warnings or tags. I've found personally that I can skim by stuff that, from the prompt, I can tell isn't my favorite flavor of delicious cake. Use your best judgment and be prepared to skip over things that aren't your thing.

Elfangor stood before his Guide Tree, pouring out his failures and guilt. Once before he had had almost as much to confess and just as little knowledge there was a long way to journey before things could be made right.

But this time, he is in the true universe, and Hala Fala is full of all the life and history his imagination could never reproduce.

On the way to hell, there is a railroad line; it don't matter where or when, or what the girl looks like, or who the boy is, or even whether it is a girl and a boy or a boy and a boy or a girl and a girl -- the point is, there's young love a-foot and in it lies the road to paradise and likewise, the road to ruin.

One of the two lovers will look at the other from across those tracks, one with love and longing in their heart and their hat in their hands, and the other will blossom under this first one's touch, even if its such a star-crossed fate that even the gods above and below are shakin' their heads at the lack of sense in these two.

The problem, kids, is when the gods find a story they like, they play it over and over again; there's a reason I ain't never been married, and it's due to this play that I watch, again and again: two young lovers, crossing the tracks, oblivious of the oncoming train of fate, barreling toward them -- for lovers, ain't nothing the Fates like more than a tragedy.

AHHH THIS IS SO GOOD I'M IN LOVE!

Arcadia - Tochiro - shifted with a great groan of metal, pulling in the released Dark Matter as Miime returned and forcing it back into the engine . . . but not only there.

They are my crew, Arcadia thought, gears thrumming to the beat of their Captain's running feet on the deck, I will not lose them!

Even as their Captain crossed over onto the lifeless Oceanus, following the young mate's path, all over the ship the Arcadia's crew began to stir and rise once more, life breathed once more into their still, broken figures.

He could do with Caroline or Elena here right now, Alaric thinks as he watches Kaleb leading MG down the path of his first taste of human blood.

They were the ones who'd been there for Stefan as he'd dealt with his own lust for human blood, as Damon and Klaus had led him down that path, and they would be the ones who would know how to help him to help MG now.

It's down to Alaric now to do what he can to help MG, to handle Kaleb, to support Dorian through dealing with his own memories that that had triggered, and he will do the best he can, so that MG doesn't become Ripper!Stefan all over again.

"We've done this before," the flower interrupts himself, something like horror in his soulless eyes. "I--we have--we've done this before!"

You smile and raise the knife again.

Of course, you want to say, we've done this before and we'll do it again. Because the game never ends until you say so, and really, Asriel should know you better than to think otherwise.

Perhaps he expected it to feel differently than it had before, but kissing him was the same as it always had been all those years ago - the only change was the way Denmark gasped in surprise, as he hadn't expected it; and then he yielded to Norway's mouth, and wrapped his arms around him, and that was all.

I need some time to myself, thanks Norway had written to him when he was on his own once more, finally out from under Sweden's roof, a century after everything fell apart for the two of them; and Denmark had understood, and let him be, as if he knew that Norway would let him know when – or if – he was ready to once again take up what they'd had together.

After nearly two hundred years, kissing him still felt the same - but everything else wasn't the same, not in the least, and that made all the difference.

On the evening of the day that Ye Hua meets High Goddess Bai Qian in the Eastern Sea, he reaches out to touch her portrait with unsteady fingers. "This time," he breathes, "no one will hurt you or offend you." Susu's painted face smiles at him in silence, beneath the bandage that hides her eyes.

Naoto wakes up with a gasp, the taste of fog still heavy in her mouth and the ever-present echo of a heart monitor flat-lining ringing in her ears. A glance around her told her that the plan at at least succeeded in sending her back - she was in her bedroom in Tokyo, and a check of her phone tells her it is April 10, 2011.

The phone vibrates a second later, and a string of messages appear as she flips up the screen - Yuu had been appointed as the one who would contact them all to see if they had made it safely, but of course everyone else would check in too - and Naoto smiles for the first time in a month.

The smile morphs into a determined line as she texts back, knowing they would have to act fast to save Yamano Mayumi and Konoshi Saki, and she vows that this time, Yuu's December would be happy and full of life.
