caramelsilver ran one last year on Livejournal and I did two over here a few years ago. We'll keep it open until January 31, 2019 which should give everyone time to play a little. This is a delightful part of the online fandom community.

What is the 3 Sentence Ficathon?
This is a challenge where you answer a prompt with a fic consisting of only three sentences. It's open to all fandoms and you can post and answer as many prompts as you like, as many times as you want.

What do I do first?
You post prompts! When posting a prompt please format it this way:

fandom, character(s), prompt word/sentence.

Only one prompt per comment please. So, for example,

Star Wars, Obi-Wan Kenobi, I don't like sand."

What else?
You answer other posters' prompts in three sentences (or more if you can't stop yourself) and fill as many prompts as you want, as many times as you wish. If you see that a prompt you loved has already been filled, go ahead and fill it again! Multiple fills of the same prompt are allowed and even encouraged! (We get really fun stories going this way).

Can I still post if I need more than 3 sentences? Or should I just abuse grammar in ways the English language never contemplated?

Yes, please. I'd love to create a nifty banner with an embed code but I fail at it. So if you create one, I'll post it and everyone can use it.

How long will it go?
Tentatively, we'll close it on January 31, 2019.

Are there any rules about cross-posting?
Nope, you can post wherever you want, whenever you want. A lot of folks collected their responses together and posted them on AO3 under the 3 sentence fiction tag. 3SFs are a terrific prompt for remixes and could be helpful for Yuletide bears, too.

What about spoilers, content warnings, triggers, pairings, ratings, tags, and squick?
I thought about this. It wasn't an issue the last 2 times I ran this but times change. In my experience, this typically gets too big, moves too fast, and the stories are too short for content warnings and ratings. You should assume spoilers are fair game and that the initial poster and responder have opted to use no content warnings or tags. I've found personally that I can skim by stuff that, from the prompt, I can tell isn't my favorite flavor of delicious cake. Use your best judgment and be prepared to skip over things that aren't your thing.

Any fandom, any character, Hogwarts AU

He meets Derek Hale for the first time on the Hogwarts Express, and it seems strange, in retrospect, that the moment goes unremarked. It seems like there should have been sparks flying. A Howler, maybe--something to mark the moment when Stiles’s life started to go completely off the rails.

Great! Feels complete but also like looking back at the prologue of a crazy life story for sure.

"Kiriyama, you going out for Seeker this year?" Shinji asked eagerly.

Kazuo shot him a look of mute confusion, as if he could not fathom why anyone would waste their time chasing balls in the air.

"Whatever, more witches for me to catch," Shinji noted as he passed by.

It was going to ruin her reputation if word got around that she'd been helping out Gryffindors, Jessica thought with an inward sigh, but the rest of her house would just have to understand, and anyway, anyone who'd seen Luke Cage on the Quidditch pitch would definitely understand why she couldn't just let a boy with shoulders like that get eaten by an Acromantula, even if he was on the other team.

And even if it also meant incidentally saving the other two with him, that one blind kid from the Gryffindor fourth-years and a little blond kid that she vaguely recognized as one of the first-years, wearing a scarf in Hufflepuff colors, and sniffling with Luke's arm around him.

"It's Jessica from Potions, isn't it?" the blind Gryffindor said, tilting his head to the side, and damn it, someday she would figure out what spell he used to recognize people at a distance in that uncanny way he had.

"I was passing by and heard screaming," Jessica said, lowering her wand. "Can't any of you lot go anywhere without getting into trouble?"

Oh, gosh, I just love this to pieces and can't help but imagine an entire, full-length AU for them in this universe because it works so well and you've really blended the styles of both canons convincingly. Also, of course Danny's a first year, and a Hufflepuff! And I'm assuming Jessica's Slytherin, or maybe Hufflepuff?

Yeah, I was thinking Jessica is Slytherin. Although, man, Jessica as the Grouchiest Hufflepuff would also totally work. XD

"Have you met the new Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher? He's out of his mind!"

"He spent the entire class teaching us something called Krav Maga? We never even touched our wands!"

Alec hides his laugh with a cough and weaves through the crowd of gossiping students to get to Eliot's brand-new Defense Against the Dark Arts classroom. This was definitely going to be one of the best jobs they'd ever run.

(Eliot as a DADA teacher? I couldn't resist...)

Look, I just love the idea of them running a job at Hogwarts, okay; it would be hilarious.

This is AWESOME. Oh gosh, how long can they keep the gig going? I mean Crouch managed, and Lockhart. Eliot would have no problem.

He heard the stories about werewolves, of course -- the warnings, the examples, the missing people who couldn't live in magical society anymore. Nothing made him ready for this though, for the way everything was different in America, including the wolves who didn't seem to need potions or spells to keep themselves under control.

It takes a while for Derek to open up to him enough to explain about anchors.
