3 Sentence Ficathon

3 Sentence Ficathon Banner

EDIT!  THIS POST IS NOW CLOSED TO NEW PROMPTS,  PLEASE POST NEW PROMPTS
HERE!

CaramelSilver isn’t running the awesome 3 sentence ficathon this year, but she said I could do it in her place!!  (Banner courtesy of CaramelSilver and thanks so much!)

What is the 3 Sentence Ficathon?
This is a challenge where you answer a prompt with a fic consisting of only three sentences. It's open to all fandoms and you can post and answer as many prompts as you like, as many times as you want.

What do I do?
You post prompts!  When posting a prompt please format it this way:

fandom, character/pairing, prompt word/sentence.

Only one prompt per comment please.

What else?
You answer other posters' prompts in three sentences (or more if you can't stop yourself) and fill as many prompts as you want, as many times as you wish.  If you see that a prompt you loved has already been filled, go ahead and fill it again!  Multiple fills of the same prompt allowed.

I'm not a member of Dreamwidth
No problem.  You can comment anonymously or through open ID

Can anyone play?
Yes!  Please pimp this to your flist, I'd like as many as possible to come and participate!

I'm cross-posting to LJ but we will keep all prompts and fills here, so they are in one awesome place (and with less spam).

Here's a link for spreading the word to all your friends and comms (thanks [personal profile] snacky !)

How long can it go?
CaramelSilver kept the 2011 3 Sentence Ficathon up for a month.  I'd suggest closing it on Sunday, April 7, 2013.  How does that sound? (edit:  If we reach 5,000 comments sooner, I'll start a new one).

Are there any rules about cross-posting?
Nope, you can post wherever you want, whenever you want.  Last year, a lot of folks collected their responses together and posted them on AO3 under the 3 sentence fiction tag.

Gosh who are all these people writing such great prompts and fills?
Good question!  Come to the friending meme and introduce yourself if you like.

As  [personal profile] lady_songsmith explains, for the 2011 3 Sentence Ficathon, [livejournal.com profile] grim_lupine created a delicious account to archive the 3 Sentence Ficathon.   [personal profile] lady_songsmith has reactivated the archive on delicious for this challenge, so, here is the account (nothing current added yet, though): https://previous.delicious.com/3sentence She asks that if anyone would be willing to help knock down the backlog of the prolific-ness thus far, let her know!!  (She adds:  I know folks are kinda down on delicious with the changes, but, hey, it's an archive already set up with useful tags!)

On the subject of archiving, I really encourage people to collect and post their fills elsewhere.  That way, we can find your work more easily again, redundancy is always good and it's really useful for future remixes and other challenges and gift exchanges you might participate in. I'll start a linking post so that if you do collect all your fills and post them on your own blog or an archive like AO3, you can give give us the link in comments.

Flying on the Lone Pine

[personal profile] shallowness 2013-03-14 07:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Young Captain David Morton blames himself for lowering his guard once his ship navigated the Seven White Gates. Now reports are coming in from all sides, tensely summarised by Executive Officer Sterling, all pointing to one thing, their ship is in the grip of the Ballinger Anomaly. He gives the order, 'Unleash the twins.'

I have no idea if you're familiar with this fandom!

Well, I hope that several others fill the awesome prompt (I love space AUs) in fandoms you do know.

Little Women in SPAAAAACE

[personal profile] snacky 2013-03-15 04:10 am (UTC)(link)
Jo slides into the cockpit of the jet, pulling her helmet on, adjusting the oxygen feed, and as the canopy closes, she glances over at Laurie in the next plane, and he winks at her, grinning hugely.

"This is it," she whispers to herself, "I'm going to fly."

And then the jet is shooting out the launch tube, and finally, Jo is gliding amongst the stars.

This was just a little bit of something that I had thought of for that story. Of course it didn't work there, but I am glad it works here! Thank you!

This is wonderful, Jo and Laurie in the BSG verse! I love her enthusiasm, and that Laurie is so happy for her.

Game of Thrones in spaaaaaaaaace!

[personal profile] vialethe 2013-03-18 07:02 pm (UTC)(link)
When the seven divisions of the fleet of Westeros begin to turn on each other, the skies grow bright with their folly, spurts of flame flying between them, leaving The Riverlands scorched and blackened, limping through space, barely still flying.

From the massive, curved greatship The Wall, Jon Snow watches the battles and the darkness behind them both, and wonders where in the wide fleet his siblings have scattered, and whether any of them will ever make contact again.

On the moon of Esos called Dothraki Sea, Dany watches the fires burn above, and smiles, for they call her home at last.

This is fantastic! I want more of this AU now - what is Arya up to, and what intergalactic trouble is Joffrey causing, etc.

I've had this Firefly/GOT crossover in my head forever, I'm so glad I finally got the opportunity to lay a bit of it out!

***
"Get out there and fight, Dog!" the boy Admiral shrieks, his voice coming out shrill and breaking, rather than the booming commands of his dead father.

Sandor looks out the bay windows, into the firestorms and explosions taking place on the flight deck, and backs away from his fighter.

"Fuck you," he rasps out, reaching for his belt, groping for his pistol or his flask, he couldn't even say which, "and fuck your fleet, too."

Homeward Bound, Mary/Matthew, spoilers for the third series

Mary takes the premium shuttle back to her home moon from Londinium. She could have asked Matthew or even Edith to have flown her there and back in one of the family’s fleet of spacecraft, but then there would have been questions that she didn’t want to answer. The treatment is complete now, the nanites are fully integrated and she is assured that her body will be able to carry the next Crawley to term.

Downton Abbey, their great war

[personal profile] shallowness 2013-03-20 08:05 am (UTC)(link)
(spoilers for the second series)

They believe that this war, intergalactic in scope, will change everything. It does, in that a doctor’s son and a farmer’s son suit up together before landing on a strategically important planet they for a brutal, long campaign and a mixed-species socialite treats wounded soldiers on a mediship in another quadrant entirely alongside the young man who used to serve her food. Most of them do not know their history well enough to realise that when they describe this as the war to end all wars, they are echoing their forbearers on a planet that has long since been destroyed.

This is amazing, but it's really the last line that makes this. Absolutely chilling, with the idea of history repeating like that.
