What is the 3 Sentence Ficathon?
This is a challenge where you answer a prompt with a fic consisting of only three sentences. It's open to all fandoms and you can post and answer as many prompts as you like, as many times as you want.

What do I do?
You post prompts! When posting a prompt please format it this way:

fandom, character/pairing, prompt word/sentence.

Only one prompt per comment please.

What else?
You answer other posters' prompts in three sentences (or more if you can't stop yourself) and fill as many prompts as you want, as many times as you wish. If you see that a prompt you loved has already been filled, go ahead and fill it again! Multiple fills of the same prompt allowed.

How long can it go?
CaramelSilver kept the 2011 3 Sentence Ficathon up for a month. I'd suggest closing it on Sunday, April 7, 2013. How does that sound? (edit: If we reach 5,000 comments sooner, I'll start a new one).

Are there any rules about cross-posting?
Nope, you can post wherever you want, whenever you want. Last year, a lot of folks collected their responses together and posted them on AO3 under the 3 sentence fiction tag.

The Silmarillion, Feanor (+any), there is no one who will take me by that shore/close to the smoke/far from the fire of your harbor

After her husband sails away with their sons, Nerdanel leaves her father's home, and journeys to Tol Eressëa, and makes a new home for herself on the island. Everyday she walks along the shore, gazing to east, thinking of Fëanor and her boys, and longing for their safe return, even though she knows she hopes in vain.

And it is on that shore, as she watches the waves wash ceaselessly against the sand, that her heart clenches tight in her chest and she finally realizes he is gone from her for good.

(Not Fëanor! I am sorry!)

(How do you know all the music I love?? Also, that's the title of my lj friends page, so I was very confused for a second when I saw the notification in my inbox. But enough about me!)

I almost made this a Feanor/Nerdannel prompt, so it suits me very well even if it is only Feanor-adjacent! I love that she went as far east as she could, and hopes for so long. And that she felt it when he died! Oh, my heart.

(Evidently we have the same tastes in music! I have seen a couple of your prompts where I am like I LOVE THAT SONG MUST FILL! Haha, sorry about the confusion, but it did seem to work for Fefe and Nel. And omg sorry about that, I have nicknames for them /o\)

Poor Nerdanel. I think she is still waiting, for the end of the world, to be reunited with Fëanor.

Clearly we both have excellent taste in music, and I'm happy it gets you to do more fills!

I don't know if I think she'd still be waiting...he did take absolutely everything from her. I think she'd go sit with Fingolfin's wife and they'd talk about what idiots their husbands had been and start support groups for abandoned wives. And maybe she'd do a little craftwork of her own, being both the daughter and wife of a smith!

Haha, it is a joke with me and my cowriter, that only Nel or his brothers can call him Fefe and live. :D

I think theirs was a relationship filled with lots of battles and ups and downs, but even at the lowest point and when she was the most angry and devastated, she'd still love him and wait for him to return. But of course, you are right! I think she's a talented sculptor - didn't she make statues so real that people thought they were alive? And yeah, she and Anaire have regular get-togethers.

Was she a sculptor? It's been too long since I read HoME.

I agree that she would have loved him forever - he's pretty clearly the type of guy who captures attention and devotion and doesn't let it go, through sheer force of personality. It's just nicer to think of her as having some kind of independent life after he's left, and she seems so forceful herself, being the only one besides Finwe he'd ever listen to, that I can't see her being the waiting sort. But maybe in her secret, sentimental heart...

Yes, very true. I think she would be so angry with him, but still miss him, if that makes sense? She waits (in vain) for him to return because she loves him and she wants him back, but she's still going to be angry with him if he ever does show up.

I like the idea of her having a life - I would hate to think of her just pining away for him. I just think it's a part of her she can't ever let go. Aw, now I am sad for her, heh.

That absolutely makes sense, yes. I can see her running up to him if he ever returned and smacking him before holding him as tight as she could!

Agreed about her not ever being able to really let go - elves are like that in general, of course, with the whole 'only one love ever' thing (unless your name is Finwe), so it makes perfect sense that she wouldn't be able to, even if his personality hadn't been quite so magnetic and overwhelming in life.
