What is the 3 Sentence Ficathon?
This is a challenge where you answer a prompt with a fic consisting of only three sentences. It's open to all fandoms and you can post and answer as many prompts as you like, as many times as you want.

What do I do?
You post prompts! When posting a prompt please format it this way:

fandom, character/pairing, prompt word/sentence.

Only one prompt per comment please.

What else?
You answer other posters' prompts in three sentences (or more if you can't stop yourself) and fill as many prompts as you want, as many times as you wish. If you see that a prompt you loved has already been filled, go ahead and fill it again! Multiple fills of the same prompt allowed.

How long can it go?
CaramelSilver kept the 2011 3 Sentence Ficathon up for a month. I'd suggest closing it on Sunday, April 7, 2013. How does that sound? (edit: If we reach 5,000 comments sooner, I'll start a new one).

Are there any rules about cross-posting?
Nope, you can post wherever you want, whenever you want. Last year, a lot of folks collected their responses together and posted them on AO3 under the 3 sentence fiction tag.

lotr, legolas and gimli, they don't talk about what one father did to the other, ever.

I don't know if this is what you were looking for, but it's what came to me. :)

They circle the knowledge warily, bristling like a pair of chance-met wolves ('never trust an Elf'; 'why doesn't that surprise me?'). But over time the taunts fade and the hackles settle as an unlikely friendship grows between them. The prison door, once flung open, lets sunlight flood inside, leaving no room for the shadows of the past.

It's great how they both leave the past in the past, and give a new future a chance.

I don't think until recently, with so much more emphasis on The Hobbit, that I realised just how much past they had to overcome. It speaks a lot to both of them that they did and makes me love them all the more.

Was inspired to jump in here. Hope you like the result.

The sins of the fathers are visited upon the sons, making both Gimli and Legolas determined not to trust.

They swipe at each other verbally, stopping just short of blows, making the other members of the Fellowship wonder if both will survive the journey.

But mutual enemies and a common goal bring their focus from the past to the present in hopes of creating a peaceful future that both elf and dwarf can share.

I like how you view their friendship as evolving from the past to the present... and into the future.

I like the way you explain *why* they've managed to move beyond their differences. Excellent job of it.

This is really powerful, and well-written. You bring in their past, their present, and their hopes for the future in just three lines. Beautifully done.

Another great fic for a terrific prompt. The Hobbit really shows all the reasons they have to distrust and yet they become the greatest of friends and I really appreciate your fic showing in a mere 3 sentences how that might happen.
