3 Sentence Ficathon

3 Sentence Ficathon Banner

EDIT!  THIS POST IS NOW CLOSED TO NEW PROMPTS,  PLEASE POST NEW PROMPTS
HERE!

CaramelSilver isn’t running the awesome 3 sentence ficathon this year, but she said I could do it in her place!!  (Banner courtesy of CaramelSilver and thanks so much!)

What is the 3 Sentence Ficathon?
This is a challenge where you answer a prompt with a fic consisting of only three sentences. It's open to all fandoms and you can post and answer as many prompts as you like, as many times as you want.

What do I do?
You post prompts!  When posting a prompt please format it this way:

fandom, character/pairing, prompt word/sentence.

Only one prompt per comment please.

What else?
You answer other posters' prompts in three sentences (or more if you can't stop yourself) and fill as many prompts as you want, as many times as you wish.  If you see that a prompt you loved has already been filled, go ahead and fill it again!  Multiple fills of the same prompt allowed.

I'm not a member of Dreamwidth
No problem.  You can comment anonymously or through open ID

Can anyone play?
Yes!  Please pimp this to your flist, I'd like as many as possible to come and participate!

I'm cross-posting to LJ but we will keep all prompts and fills here, so they are in one awesome place (and with less spam).

Here's a link for spreading the word to all your friends and comms (thanks [personal profile] snacky !)

How long can it go?
CaramelSilver kept the 2011 3 Sentence Ficathon up for a month.  I'd suggest closing it on Sunday, April 7, 2013.  How does that sound? (edit:  If we reach 5,000 comments sooner, I'll start a new one).

Are there any rules about cross-posting?
Nope, you can post wherever you want, whenever you want.  Last year, a lot of folks collected their responses together and posted them on AO3 under the 3 sentence fiction tag.

Gosh who are all these people writing such great prompts and fills?
Good question!  Come to the friending meme and introduce yourself if you like.

As  [personal profile] lady_songsmith explains, for the 2011 3 Sentence Ficathon, [livejournal.com profile] grim_lupine created a delicious account to archive the 3 Sentence Ficathon.   [personal profile] lady_songsmith has reactivated the archive on delicious for this challenge, so, here is the account (nothing current added yet, though): https://previous.delicious.com/3sentence She asks that if anyone would be willing to help knock down the backlog of the prolific-ness thus far, let her know!!  (She adds:  I know folks are kinda down on delicious with the changes, but, hey, it's an archive already set up with useful tags!)

On the subject of archiving, I really encourage people to collect and post their fills elsewhere.  That way, we can find your work more easily again, redundancy is always good and it's really useful for future remixes and other challenges and gift exchanges you might participate in. I'll start a linking post so that if you do collect all your fills and post them on your own blog or an archive like AO3, you can give give us the link in comments.

Eugene liked to think that he had led a comparatively normal life before he met Rapunzel - between capers, it was fairly dull, to be honest - but all of that had changed, now, and he couldn't really complain too much.

He could really go for some normal about now, he thought as he rounded a corner of the castle hallway and came face to face with one of the invaders, who was moving his sword way too fast to even be real, and this was going to be it for Eugene Fitzherbert, prince consort, formerly known as Flynn Rider, professional thief; he shut his eyes.

There was the clatter of hooves, followed by a clang, and when he opened his eyes he saw Maximus, frying pan clutched hard in his teeth, the invader on the ground, the worse for wear, and Eugene had never been so glad to see his wife's favorite horse; who cared about normal anymore, anyway?

When Hercules came home that evening, there was defeat in his eyes; he sat down heavily on his favorite chair and Megara draped herself over him, lifting a hand to her forehead melodramatically (the children giggled).

"Have you heard - " she asked, "Oh have you heard - that crazy demigod Hercules has slaughtered his whole family because of the jealousy of Hera?"

Hercules frowned, but Megara just rolled her eyes and continued, "You'd think that your uncle would know better than to spread rumors and make your mother mad; don't worry, last I heard, all the fire in Hades had gone out," and then her husband smiled.

Joan hadn't known Sherlock when they were both attending Hogwarts - he was a vibrant Gryffindor Quidditch player and she a Ravenclaw from an entirely different social class (and nearly a Slytherin as well, like her parents had wanted - if anyone had asked, she could have traced her Pureblood heritage back for more generations than anyone; it's just that it didn't matter so much to her as knowledge did, and she wanted that most of all).

She met him years later, working as an independent Healer - a companion, well in demand in old families where a trip to St. Mungo's could put them in the society pages for weeks, and in gossip for longer; he'd been addicted to Firewhisky and who knew what else, the sort of things you bought down Knockturn Alley, where Joan had never been.

But he remembered her, that was the strangest thing - "Joanie!" he said, shaking her hand with a fake bluster of politeness, "you were in my year, Ravenclaw, top of the class and utterly brilliant, so you know how ridiculous this is - why don't you go now and save us the trouble?"; his face showed disappointment, not surprise, when she shook her head, so maybe he did remember her for real and the way she had of digging in her heels.

Yay for an Oz(/Willow) prompt! This is set post S7, ignoring comics and assuming Willow and Oz got their reunion in Istanbul.

"I'm just so tired of fighting and never winning," Willow sighed quietly, looking down at where her fingers tangled with Oz's, continuing "I'm tired of wars that don't end and of funerals for Slayers and I'm tired of nothing ever changing."

"We could run away," Oz responded after a moment, but they both knew that they could never escape to a life of more than blood and death, that this war would follow them (had followed them to Tibet and to Scotland and every place in between), and that they would never be able to escape the futile, devastating struggle, the way Oz could never escape his wolf and Willow could never escape her own darkness.

"Maybe one day," Willow smiled weakly, leaning her forehead against Oz's, and wistfully imagined a day when she and Oz could escape this bloody existence, when they could run away together; she kissed him softly and whispered, "I always wanted to see the world with you."

Anthea is fascinating, because she manages to break out of her awful home situation and make a life for herself with no help from anybody--but in doing so she has to abandon Conrad, whom she has essentially raised. As much as she justifiably resents being put in that position, and less justifiably but perfectly understandably resents him, that can't have been an easy choice, or one without regrets.

(Also I suspect that she once made a dressing gown for Christopher. It is covered in hippopotamuses and he loves it.)
