Mini Cons

It has been an awesome weekend of fannish goodness.  As reported previously, I saw Salmon Fishing In The Yemen with [livejournal.com profile] econopodder and met up with [livejournal.com profile] knitress thereafter.  Then on Sunday evening I met friend and reader C and it was just lovely and so civilized.    Ironically, as it turns out [livejournal.com profile] harmony_lover was in the restaurant next door!  I met [livejournal.com profile] harmony_lover today for lunch.  I've had a terrific few days talking life, liberties (and those who would eliminate them), and fanfiction.  This is truly the best part of bonding over fic -- the lovely people you meet along the way!

In other news, we leave in less than two weeks for Italy!!!  AHHHHHHHHHHHHH.  I bought new walking shoes and promptly destroyed my heels (not good).  We are going to Rome and Florence with short stops in Siena, Pisa, and San Gimigiano.

I'm in the final painful throes of the NBB editing -- [livejournal.com profile] autumnia has done an amazing job on the beta.  I can't even see the typos at this point.  If I think about it too hard, I start angsting all over the place.  So I will stop.  Angsting that is.

Also, errr, if I'm super, super productive I may try to do some sort of an update before the NBB is released.  Maybe. Also, I posted the first three chapters of AW over on AO3.  I know some people like that e-reader function, so I'll get that up.  Anything is better than correcting my endless comma errors.

Oh, sorry, and another thing!  Theoretically, if Edmund were to have a Tarot reading, what might represent Morgan?  How might that present?  Any thoughts on that?

Sounds like you're going to have a great trip. Enjoy!

Thank you! I think I'll watch Gladiator and Hunger Games to get me in the mood for ancient Rome!

I may or may not be rereading it everytime it updates on the Googledocs.

*cough* I may or may not have done the same. And really, [livejournal.com profile] rthstewart needs to stop angsting over the story. I'm sure you think it's as fantastic as I do.

*highfives* And yes, it really is fantastic. She must stop angsting :DDD

I was re-reading parts of TQSiT and AW I realized I need to add 1)the Hierophant/Asim and 2) Peter's knife that Asim gave him. Ooops. Am I missing anything else?

I was actually looking over some chapters of AW last night and thought there were some changes to it since I last read it (or it could be that I haven't looked at the story in a long time). Did not remember about Asim's knife, though that would be important, wouldn't it? Hmm. I'll have to think about it and see if there are any other loose ends lying about (also, any word on the fate of Captain Lowry?).

As for the tarot, I'll go check out your link below a little later and see what would work better. :-)

ITALY! Oh my goodness, have fun and tell me all about it! I'm headed off for Rome and Venice myself in about 5 weeks, so you'll have to tell me all the best places to go in Rome.

Enjoy yourself!

I was last in Rome a very long time ago -- it was really overwhelming -- my first European city and I was surprised at all the 16 year old soldiers in the airport with machine guns And thank you for reviewing H&M!! <3333

Italy! Sounds fun, and it's definitely nice to go abroad for a bit especially this time of year when it's in between being hot and cold.

As for Morgan, using this as a guide, I would think she could fit some of the descriptions of the Three of Wands, Seven of Wands, and the Nine of Wands.

Or maybe the Ace of Pentacles (Upright: "A new business venture". Hah.)

I was looking at this site, http://www.ata-tarot.com/resource/cards/
and I'm having a basic problem figuring out if Pentacles, Wands or Swords apply more to Morgan. I can see bits and pieces of them all. Also the 4 of Wands has strong ties to the Justice card, apparently. Also, the Magician and errr something else. Also the Two and the Six of Cups which are more for him than for her.... And you know why I'm thinking this.

Meeting up with people = :D

And Italy! Italy is one of my favourite places and I've been lucky enough to go camping a few times there with my family. (We stayed near Lake Garda.) I've always been fascinated with Venice as a sinking city. We made it to Rome last year - highly recommend the Trevi Fountain and, if you have time, wander through the huge Vatican Museum to the Sistine Chapel. And have a fantastic time!!!

We have many tours planned and my eldest child unit is VERY interested in ancient Rome. Also, food. thank you! I'm really looking forward to a tour of Tuscany and Ostia Antica.

Ooooooh! I haven't been to Rome, but all the rest are just lovely! Drink some Chianti Classico for me! I have no right to be jealous, having just got back from Spain and France, but ... I'm jealous anyway.

Pro tip: If the boys want to go to the Torture Museum in San Gimigniano, take yourself off to a cafe unless you have a very, very strong stomach. It's not fun.

Yeah, the torture museum will be a NO GO. I hnope you have a fabulous time in Spain and France!!!

You know about the semi-magic special bandaids for blisters?

*I* don't, and given my propensity for destroying bits of my podiatric anatomy every pair of new shoes (including new pairs of kinds I ALREADY WEAR regularly), I think I need to. Spill!

My heels beg you to tell me where such magic bandaids may be had. Also, you up for Easter? I emailed you and [livejournal.com profile] econopodder.

Yes totally on Easter, and thanks!

And Band-aid Advanced Healing Blister Cushions are wonderful. They're expensive but they really REALLY make it possible to wear shoes even if you've got blisters. CVS, etc, all carry them.

I haven't tried it yet, but I have a friend who sticks 'em on the inside of her shoes (not on her foot) to be extra padding where needed.

For back-of-the-heel, maybe try http://www.footpetals.com/event/catalog:detail/catalogCode/Heavenly-Heelz-FP002/
?? I've used some of their products on my sandals to pad the straps. I think you can get them at DSW and at Target.

According to, er, tarotpedia, Eight of Pentacles (or Coins!) can be interpreted as:

Diligence; Being competent and hard working
Being meticulous and detail-oriented
Being engrossed in your work
"Practice makes perfect"
A pleasurable hobby

Or the Three, "a cooperative venture". Muahaha.

Have fun in the city-museum of Rome!

As I told Autumnia up above, I see a lot of Swords, Pentacles, and Wands in Morgan, as well as the Magician which has ties to the Two of Wands. One source said the Four of Wands had strong ties to the Justice Card. I dunno. I'll need to think about this some more. It's all theoretical but it was fun to sort of imagine what Agnes would pull out of her lap for Edmund.
