NFE Beta, this and that

I believe that my Narnia Fic Exchange is complete.  [livejournal.com profile] snacky  has been awesome with suggestions but she's running the NFE with [livejournal.com profile] caramelsilver .  Is there someone out there with a really good eye for detail?  Every time I look at it, I find new typos and some assistance would be great.  It's a few thousand words, but I think it's a pretty easy read.  If you are interested, please email or post or PM me.  I've had a huge amount of fun with this and the prompt has been a delight but it needs a very thorough going over.  I may even GASP print it.

Also, something exciting!!  I've met in person Tasty As It Gets and [livejournal.com profile] l_a_r_m and [livejournal.com profile] lady_songsmith and now I'm meeting someone else from the rthstewart/Narnia side of my life!  This week!  I'll not mention her name unless she is shy.  I am, however, very excited, and my great sadness is that more folks are not able to join us!

Norway, of course, is in all our our hearts this weekend.  I recall very well those feelings during 9/11 and how long they lasted thereafter.  May you be comforted.

Doh! I almost volunteered, and then remembered I'm participating in the exchange. Sorry, I would if I weren't!

Let me ask Snacky if you can! I don't think it's your prompt, just sayin. I can sense these things!!

[identity profile] mrstater.livejournal.com 2011-07-24 07:03 pm (UTC)(link)
LOL Considering I've written a rather limited range of characters, it's probably a safe bet you can guess you didn't get my prompt.

Let me know what she says.

Woo for exciting things!! Beta-ing wise, I haven't paid enough attention in Narnia fics to be able to give your fic the awesome it deserves, but know you already have a reader when you post a link here :)))

I'm still bummed that I won't be making it down to your area for this great meeting but I shall be there most definitely in spirit. Tell Her I say hi though!

(Also, given this immense heat, I don't know if I'd want to sit on a bus and bake this weekend. Have seen horror stories on the news of one such trip between New York and Boston.)

I will tell Her you said Hi! And I'm sorry you won't make it but I get it!! and it's HOT

[identity profile] min023.livejournal.com 2011-07-25 06:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Her says thank-you for the thoughts, but she definitely wouldn't want you to fry on a bus. This weather is truly vile!!!!

Yes it is! Even so, I hope such weather won't keep Her from enjoying the visit. On the plus side, it will actually be several degrees cooler than it was last week though still overall unbearable. :-)

If you're still looking for a beta, I might be available, sorry I missed your post last night. I am not writing for the exchange (although I did sign up to pinch-hit) and I'm pretty good at line-editing.

I forget if you have my email: it's my username via gmail.

Thanks, but I think I'm good. I am sorry you aren't doing the NFE though! For snacky and caramelsilver's sake, I hope there aren't any drop outs, but on the other hand, I'd love to see you do a pinch hit!

Bah, LJ burped.

I have given up on fic exchanges: too stressful, too much like work. But I support them with beta and recs and whatnot.

Anyway, I also hope nobody drops out, if only because I'm mere days away from posting the final verson of Carpetbaggers...

(Anonymous) 2011-07-25 06:03 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm THRILLED to hear that Carpetbaggers is close!!! (it's Ruth, but logging in give LJ indigestion and I don't have a pepcid for it).

[identity profile] min023.livejournal.com 2011-07-25 06:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Woot! Yay for Carpetbaggers

[identity profile] linneasr.livejournal.com 2011-07-27 07:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Ach! LJ is turning itself into the mountain peak, and I'm having such trouble climbing it!

Thank you from Norway

"Norway, of course, is in all our our hearts this weekend. I recall very well those feelings during 9/11 and how long they lasted thereafter. May you be comforted."

Let me say thank you on behalf of my fellow Norwegians.
I was not affected personally, I wasn't even in Oslo when it happened, I was just following everything on the news.

But even that has been a heavy experience, if that is the right word. A demanding task. At times I couldn't take more in, I had to take a break.

And I am lucky to be able to distance myself from it. So many families cannot. They need to be comforted most of all.

The place where I work, is only a few blocks away from the buildings that were bombed. We were all on holiday, but my boss told us (by text message) that she had checked that our offices on the third floor were ok. The shop windows on the ground floor, however, were broken ...

So. Excited. For NFE. So very excited.

[identity profile] l-a-r-m.livejournal.com 2011-07-30 07:44 pm (UTC)(link)
I was in London when it happened. It felt so close and so real, especially because I was traveling alone. It was so *surreal* to wake up in my hostel and see tragedy on the news, playing in a TV/common room full of cheery murals and subdued backpackers.

You always say the right thing! Our thoughts are with Norway indeed.

Congrats on NFE. I am so excited to read!

1) when are you back in the states?
2) how was London and Oxford?

[identity profile] l-a-r-m.livejournal.com 2011-07-31 02:15 pm (UTC)(link)
I start August classes tomorrow! Intermediate Italian. I don't get back stateside until the very day classes begin, Aug. 28, and it will be hectic! hectic! dragging my huge suitcase through the subway and the train and back to campus, where none of my stuff will be moved in. I'm sure I thought it was perfect planning at the time I bought my ticket but actually it was really stupid.

LONDON OMG. I need to upload those pictures asap so you can seeeeeee! I had the most amazing wonderful time British people are so friendly and polite, and the boys are so.cute I cannot even:
