Not Jina, Update
So, my girl is home from the vet, and it seems, fortunately, does not have a perforation or a blockage necessitating emergency abdominal surgery. We hope. Thanks to all of you who shared your kind thoughts.

She's got the creepy green eyes, but you get the picture. And yes, that's my bed.
And if you are curious, here's a picture of a retrieving bumper:

She ate about 2/3 of it.
And, a couple of commentators noted in the last chapter how I was drawing on US legal and business workplace environments, the names and culture of American banking firms, and over all, the effect of what happens when smart, rich people are left alone for 200 years without regulatory oversight. To which the answer is, yes, yes, and yes. This part of the story is returning to the roots of By Royal Decree which was written in Spring 2009 when the world economy was in freefall and brought to its knees by, among other things, the conduct of investment bankers. Morgan in fact is describing something very like a derivative investment product. I'll admit that there's a lot that probably won't be neatly tidied up in H&M. I'm just trying to finish the Lone Islands. I chucked so much of that original story -- I have pages and pages of outline and notes and I'm trying to really zero in on a few things. So, ... yeah...I want to Get It Done
Anyway, thank you and the dog is doing better and we're very grateful we aren't dealing with abdominal surgery.

I recommend calling her the worst names you can think of in the most loving tones you can muster. It's stress relief for you and reassurance for her.

I am glad she's okay! What a relief.
