Andor US Thanksgiving

So, I may be making some poor life choices in what time tomorrow I try to watch Andor.  I'm so nervous about what is going to happen.  Minor speculation and spoilers below the link below.

I admit it's a little amusing to see ALL THE DRAMA on mastodon.  I don't mean to make light of it -- some of it is quite serious.  Some of it is just a bunch of people getting together who are all very smart and then suddenly WTF we have to mod too?  How do we mod?  We're used to someone ELSE doing this shit job.  And really not having the first clue about it.  I know there are issues with security, etc. on Mastodon but I'm not on it for anything except to try to keep up on a few things, and it's not terribly successful with that. I used Twitter as my aggregator for news, politics, federal government news, FDA, HHS, emergency alerts, traffic and weather, fandom, dogs, and fic.  I mean, I followed Tom & Lorenzo, Daily Dot, I Pet That Dog, a bunch of law blogs, a bunch of oncologists and epidemiologists, and a lot of you.  Nothing can yet replace all those things.  I'm on Discord, Tumblr, here, mastodon, instagram, and put a bunch of my news sources in feedly.  I's not the same at all but it's a start.  I hate it.

And Thursday is American Thanksgiving and I used to post on LJ a long time ago about me meal day prep, then I went to Twitter, and well, you know. 
So, I'm dry brining a bird with a half cup of kosher salt (about 70 grams) for two days and then will baste with butter and honey.  We're only have 6 guests total this year -- I think I had about 20 last year.  So I thought we had downsized but the group is evenly divided between hard crusty rolls and parker house rolls and between sausage stuffing and mashed potatoes, so... all four I suppose.  But it's a smaller bird and smaller sizes/portions of everything and i might not even break out the good china.  In recent years, as we've aged, we've drunk a lot less alcohol.  But this time, I have 3 people under age 25, so I think the cycle begins again. 

Dessert is unified around apple pie and I'm going to do a salted caramel chocolate tart.    Oh and some random veg.

I'm so curious about how they resolve Syril's arc. I definitely get the sense that to Gilroy and Co. they really see Syril as being misguided, injured, looking for structure, rather than a true believer in the Empire, as opposed to Derdra Meero.  And I do wander at the hints about Maarva wandering around the tunnels under the hotel and her medicines going missing.  Did Bix reveal that her contact was or wasn't Anton Kreyger? Who will die, who will live, who will live to tell their story?
Will Luthen live?  Will Mon sacrifice Tay?  or her daughter, who has taken a hard turn to "the old ways" to retain a tie to her culture as a member of the diaspora?  Leida, they have set up, will think she wants an arranged child marriage. 
will the gay rebels be fridged when everything blows up on Ferrix?  I DON'T KNOW.

Happy Andor's Eve!!!

I'm making pie and potatoes. And I'm in charge of wine.

I'm supposed to be leaving for my mother's right after work tomorrow - I may have to sneak in watching it during my lunch hour tomorrow along with pie making.
Also, I hear there's an after-credits scene tomorrow.

SO MANY QUESTIONS RTH!

Here's my guesses:
1. Bix said Axis was Kreegr. So when the raid on Stellhaus goes through and Kreegr dies, ISB will think they have shut down the rebellion, at least in part.
2. Vel and Cinta will survive because Tony doesn't kill his gays.
3. Karn isn't gonna turn, he's not smart enough: I think Cinta will kill him, maybe even by accident. He thinks he's the hero, but nobody even knows who he is.
4. Maarva did *something* in the tunnels. Or maybe she left something with B2Emo? Or maybe not, because this show zags when all other shows zig.
5. I think Luthen will survive.
6. Based on nothing but physical similarity, I wonder if Kleya is Nabooian? she looks like she could have been a handmaiden...

I am baking my traditional pecan pie and possibly some rolls, and then we'll see how many spoons I have to keep baking other stuff after that. But it is more or less potluck, and there are enough people that some stuff will be brought. I assume someone is making a vegetable.

I obtained the turkey, so cooking it is someone else's responsibility. It's a farm fresh turkey, though. My farm share has this interesting thing where you can select from small, medium, or large turkey-- but the range on "small" is something like "eight to fourteen pounds" and I was like "...that is a very wide range." (I received a 12-pound one in the end, which is correct for six meat-eaters.)

We also dry brine our turkey! My husband is in charge of that. I do the baking. I did apple and pumpkin pies, and rolls. They're all made because the oven will be occupied tomorrow. We have 9 people coming, which feels very manageable. There's some grief due to family crap though. I really want a salted caramel chocolate tart just because, now.

I'm taking my mother out to the ballet in the afternoon, so a) we have more of a family gathering than we normally do, and b) dinner needs to happen without my doing anything more than a bit of dishing up when we get home. Luckily Little Star has particularly requested a microwavable supermarket pudding (those little chocolate things with sauce in the middle), so I can concentrate my efforts on a canneloni fish that Wellinghall can just being into the oven once he knows we're out of the theatre.

Ugh, I don't know what I'm going to do if Twitter really does go bang and disappear. I follow so much randomness, like you said, I can't possibly find another one place to replace it. Some folks I used to chat with on Twitter are now in Discord, so that's cool, but what about everyone and everything else? I've been hearing about Mastodon but haven't really looked into it yet. Why can't things just stay how they were? :/

Being English, Thanksgiving is obviously not a thing for me, but a salted caramel chocolate tart?? Yes, please! :)

Ron and I started Andor Friday night & watched episode 2 last night (I didn't read your spoilers).

Your food was amazing and I'm so glad I could round out your table. Ron LOVED the tart. You never disappoint, my friend <3
