Three Sentence Ficathon
THIS POST IS NOW CLOSED TO NEW PROMPTS. PLEASE POST NEW PROMPTS HERE.
You can go ahead and continue to respond to prompts and comment on them here but please don't post any new prompts .
Welcome to the Three Sentence Ficathon!
UPDATE 1 HERE- 2 Feb
UPDATE 2 HERE 6 Feb
What is the 3 Sentence Ficathon?
This is a challenge where you answer a prompt with a fic consisting of only three sentences. It's open to all fandoms and you can post and answer as many prompts as you like, as many times as you want.
What do I do first?
You can start 3SF by posting prompts! When posting a prompt please format it this way:
Only one prompt per comment please. So, for example,
Open ended and anthropomorphic fills are popular too, such as:
What else?
You answer other posters' prompts in three sentences (or more if you can't stop yourself) and fill as many prompts as you want, as many times as you wish. If you see that a prompt you loved has already been filled, go ahead and fill it again! Multiple fills of the same prompt are allowed and even encouraged! (We get really fun stories going this way).
Can I still post if I need more than 3 sentences? Or should I just abuse grammar in ways the English language never contemplated?
Yes. Yes.
But I'm not a member of Dreamwidth
No problem. You can comment anonymously or through open ID
Can anyone play?
Yes! Please signal boost this to your flist, followers, and any other places you frequent. Come one, come all!
The more people who come and play, the better!
Can I spread the word?
Yes, please. I generally fail at creating banners and embed codes but if you create one and make it really idiot-proof, I might manage it. Or we can just cross-post. If you create one, I'll try to post it and everyone can use it.
How long will it go?
Until February 29, 2020. But the entry stays open permanently.
Are there any rules about cross-posting?
Nope, you can post wherever you want, whenever you want. A lot of folks collected their responses together and posted them on AO3 under the 3 sentence fiction tag. 3SFs are a terrific prompt for remixes and could be helpful for Yuletide bears, too.

What about spoilers, content and archive warnings, triggers, pairings, ratings, tags, and squick?
I thought a lot about this. It wasn't an issue the last 3 times I ran this. In my experience, this typically gets too big, moves too fast, and the stories are too short for content warnings and ratings to even apply. It is too big for me to moderate in this way. You should assume spoilers are fair game and that the initial poster and the responder have opted to use no content warnings or tags. This means AO3 content warnings for dubcon, violence, canon character death, underage, etc. COULD be present. I've found personally that I can skim and scroll by stuff that, from the prompt, I can tell isn't my favorite flavor of delicious cake. Use your best judgment and be prepared to skip over things that aren't your thing. In this format, the obligation is on you, the reader, to protect yourself from triggering content.

Labyrinth, Sarah/Jareth (with a prompt like this, this was inevitable)
Far off, Sarah hears something smash into something else--a pillar probably collapsing, which is odd, as she was pretty sure there were no more left to fall. There isn't even much of the floor left either--they have been circling tighter and tighter as the floor slipped away until there is barely enough room for them and their tiny audience of the last unicorn in the world and a sorceress who's forgotten how to return to her human and is stuck as a wolf.
Will anyone remember her and Jareth or will they too vanish into a forgotten fairy tale? Will the floor crumble beneath them and send them into the abyss below?
It doesn't matter; Sarah will not go into any night quietly and neither will Jareth. And so, the waltz goes on until they can think of a way to save them all, into eternity if it must.

FILL: EXTREME MEATPUNKS FOREVER, Cass, dancing as the sky falls
The sky's been flicking on and off like a toddler playing with a lightswitch. It's nauseating, it's wrong, and it's giving you a fucking migrane.
And the source of it, the asshole who's STILL mouthing off about how tearing the sky or whatever the fuck this is is all a part of his plan, is standing right there.
Standing there, twice your mass and tensile strength. Standing there, his mech plated all metal and spikes and raw inertia. It would be suicide to swing at him -- but then again, you were going to kill yourself a week ago, before this whole mess got in the way, anyways.
Lianna's right. Sometimes you look around you and there's not a thing in this world besides your fists and a face that needs as much punching as you can give it.
[ You are ALL OR NOTHING ]
So FUCK you, you fucking fascist. Let's DANCE.
Pathologic, Herb Brides
Original work, Original Characters, dancing as the sky falls
They weren't your average people, for they were both deaf, never having been able to hear anything since birth, when they had found each other, showing one another that there was another person who went through the same thing he and she had gone through, that there was somebody on this Earth who was exactly the same, they couldn't have been happier, the feeling multiplied a thousandfold when their feelings were reciprocated.
While everyone else runs for the hills to protect themselves while the sky rains down lightning, bullets, hail, heavy rain and all sorts of things associated with some would probably think the wrath of the Gods, they just dance together, their hands entwined, never letting go while they are laughing in perfect unity.
Not even other people's sign language of 'you have to get out, the world is ending!' can break them apart, for they are one and nobody will ever keep them apart again ever since they found one another, not even as the aforementioned elements crash into their clothed bodies...

Fire Emblem: Awakening - Olivia
As her companions fight to keep them from being overwhelmed, Olivia wishes she'd studied more of the sword -- but she's useless in a fight like this, and there's nothing she can do.
Nothing, but dance.
