Dessert help

So, I'm hosting Thanksgiving -- no surprise, I always host, and I'm looking for an appropriate chocolate dessert.  I've done this white and dark chocolate mousse chocolate cake before but I remember being underwhelmed by the cake and the white chocolate mousse has gelatin, a non-starter.  I've tried this chocolate almond torte over the weekend and was underwhelmed with the flavor and it stuck in the pan and I had to toss it.
I've made this hazelnut malt tart which was OK, except for the malt and the milk chocolate.   Dairy, gluten, and eggs are fine -- preferable even.   Nuts are OK too.    Gelatin is not.  I would prefer if eggs were cooked as I prefer to avoid foodborne illness.  I'm obviously fine with something with some complexity.  Also, do you have an amazing lemon tart recipe you love?  Let me know!

Also, I baked these over the weekend for the first time and really enjoyed them if you are fan of spicy ginger cookies.  I didn't boil down the ale and used King Arthur  boiled cider and so reduced the sugar a little bit.  They were delish.

oh, those cookies look GOOD. I adore spicy ginger cookies! Shall try them.

As for the chocolate dessert, well, I made this cake last month. It was rather a lot of work, but it came out marvelous. Still, maybe a bit rich if there are going to be other desserts available. Also HUGE.

I love baking but I haven't done much with chocolate desserts so I can't help you there. I make basic chocolate sheet cake every year for the girls' birthdays and that's about it. Oh and brownies. I do love brownies from scratch. Neither of those things is very festive or sophisticated, though.

I AM a big fan of spice cookies though and I am so going to try that King Arthur recipe.

I love this red wine chocolate cake; I've made it in mini-loaf pans for individual servings, and it's great.

Not a lemon dessert fan but apparently I do have at least one lemon recipe saved! Honey-Lemon Custard with Fruit

More chocolate recipes saved that I missed the first time around:
Mexican Chocolate Pots de Creme, Vegan chocolate and cherry custard tarts, Sea-salted flourless chocolate cake

I'll go raid my fancy cookbooks and see if there's anything good in there.

Mmm. Ginger cookies. I went to a Christmas Fair held at a Swedish church this afternoon and spent so much money (all for a good cause!) on treats, including gingersnaps and Glogg.

Serious Eats posted a really good Italian Almond and Blood Orange cookie recipe. I made them for a cookie swap at the office last year and they were a hit. Coworkers still remember them a year later!

Edit... Went through my cookbooks and found these:

Lemon recipes: Haven's Kitchen Lemon Curd Tart, Mary Berry's Tarte au Citron, Mary Berry's Lemon Meringue Pie

Chocolate recipes: LibertyLondonGirl's Ambassador Cake, Fortnum & Mason's Sacher Torte, Laduree's All Chocolate Tart

The cake in my icon is probably too much of an afternoon tea cake to fit a Thanksgiving dinner (at least if the lavishness of the two Thanksgiving dinners I've attended are any guide) though it is a useful one if I'm ever after something dairy-free (not on your needed list, I know). If alcohol is allowed, I do also have a chocolate whisky cake recipe I could dig out, which looks less spectacular but tastes amazing (even with third-rate whisky - in fact it's a very good thing to do if someone has given you a bottle of sub-standard whisky.

If you like chocolate cake, raspberries, and accidentally destroying and then saving dessert, have I got a story for you. This is an actual thing that happened in 2007 in my old apartment. Names have not been changed to protect anyone; no one is innocent here.
