3 Sentence Ficathon Part 2!!!

THREE SENTENCE FICATHON IS NOW CLOSED.  REALLY.  REALLY AND TRULY OVER.  RIGHT NOW.  UNTIL NEXT YEAR.  REALLY.  GO FORTH AND WRITE MORE FIC WITHOUT LIMITING IT TO 3 (OK SOMETIMES MORE) SENTENCES!  FREE THE PLOT BUNNIES!  WRITE EPIC SUSAN/MAGLOR!  EXPRESS YOUR RICHARD III FEELS IN HAIKU!  REMEMBER IT'S ALWAYS BETTER WITH DRAGONS!  OR BACCHUS!  TELL US ABOUT CASSANDRA AND PENELOPE, CLEOPATRA AND CLYTEMNESTRA!  IN FIC!

I'm not going to close the post to comments because already filled-prompts deserve love and attention.  If someone wanders in and fills a prompt or offers a new one, that's cool and I'm not going to go all stompy boots.  This has been awesome and my thanks to all of you for a great exchange.  I'll certainly host this again next year!

3 Sentence Ficathon Banner

Wow.  Well, the votes are in and after almost 5,000 prompts, fills and comments, I decided to start a new post that will carry us through the conclusion of the 3 Sentence Ficathon which will conclude on April 7, 2013.

We have lots and lots of unfilled prompts still.  So, if you posted or saw a prompt you really would love to see filled, please post again here in the new thread and hopefully someone will give you an awesome fill!   Please continue to commented upon filled prompts and thank authors, but all new prompts and fills should come  here.

My thanks to everyone for the incredible participation.  Interest has flagged the last couple of days and I'm not sure if it's just that 4900 comments and 49 pages is just too daunting or if everyone has run out of ideas.  With a new thread, maybe this will make it easier for people to navigate it again, or maybe everyone is off on Spring Break!

To recap:

What is the 3 Sentence Ficathon?
This all started with the lovely CaramelSilver (Banner courtesy of CaramelSilver and thanks so much!).  This is a challenge where you answer a prompt with a fic consisting of only three sentences. It's open to all fandoms and you can post and answer as many prompts as you like, as many times as you want.

What do I do?
You post prompts!  When posting a prompt please format it this way:

fandom, character/pairing, prompt word/sentence.

Only one prompt per comment please.

What else?
You answer other posters' prompts in three sentences (or more if you can't stop yourself) and fill as many prompts as you want, as many times as you wish.  If you see that a prompt you loved has already been filled, go ahead and fill it again!  Multiple fills of the same prompt allowed.

I'm not a member of Dreamwidth
No problem.  You can comment anonymously or through open ID

Can anyone play?
Yes!  Please pimp this to your flist, I'd like as many as possible to come and participate!

I'm cross-posting to LJ but we will keep all prompts and fills here, so they are in one awesome place (and with less spam).

Here's a link for spreading the word to all your friends and comms (thanks [personal profile] snacky !)

And thanks to Metonomia for the spiffy icon!

How long can it go?
The 2013 3 Sentence Ficathon will close on Sunday, April 7, 2013.

Are there any rules about cross-posting?

Nope, you can post wherever you want, whenever you want.  Last year, a lot of folks collected their responses together and posted them on AO3 under the 3 sentence fiction tag.

[personal profile] lady_songsmith has reactivated the archive on delicious for this challenge, https://previous.delicious.com/3sentence She asks that if anyone would be willing to help knock down the backlog of the prolific-ness thus far, let her know!!  (She adds:  I know folks are kinda down on delicious with the changes, but, hey, it's an archive already set up with useful tags!)

Gosh who are all these people writing such great prompts and fills?
Good question!  Come to the friending meme and introduce yourself if you like.

On the subject of archiving, I really encourage people to collect and post their fills elsewhere.  That way, we can find your work more easily again, redundancy is always good and it's really useful for future remixes and other challenges and gift exchanges you might participate in. I'll start a linking post so that if you do collect all your fills and post them on your own blog or an archive like AO3, you can give give us the link in comments.

Argh, I couldn't quite do it in three...

They'd known each other forever (he remembers her from family gatherings as a little girl with huge eyes, a kitten in one arm and a book in the other), but when he met up with her again in college (of course she wrote poetry, and he cringes to remember how he'd laughed at that, secure in his poly sci program) it was different somehow, and soon he'd been spending more time in her room than his apartment.

But that was years ago now (years that seemed like decades), and now that he's face to face with her for the first time since, backstage at the second debate while his brother crushes her husband in front of the crowds, he can think of only one thing to say: "Why, Anne, just tell me why."

Her eyes are still huge, even as they won't quite meet his, but her voice is steady enough as she says, "My father...after yours died, and you had to run, we thought you'd never come back from that, and I was..." she shakes her head and bites her lip before going on, but her hand drifts over her abdomen, and there's no way, he thinks, but some part of him knows it could be, "it doesn't matter now, but Edward, he was willing, and my father said I would be ruined, I didn't have a choice..."

Everything in Richard hardens, and his fingers curl into a fist as he says, "My brother will wipe the floor with the Lancasters, and when we've won this election, I'll take care of your father," and then he leaves her before he can say more, before the rage in him can spill over onto her; the York brothers have learned the lessons the Lancasters and Warwicks have taught them all too well, and he has a few calls to make, deals to broker; maybe he doesn't have time for it now, but he'll get Anne back in the end, at any cost.

Clearly, I'm so disappointed to see this... :D

OMG, I so want to read more of this AU! PoliSci major Richard and Creative Writing major Anne! Anne and her kittens and her books! Richard's despair and simultaneously political savvy! The fact that Anne's Lancaster marriage, as impossible as it seems, is even more depressing in this version than most other versions of their story ! :( Aahhh, but what I mean to say, this is great ♥ ♥ ♥
(Also, you've read the 1930s Richard/Anne AU on AO3, right?)

I have SO MUCH headcanon for this now, like how Richard Neville and Cecily are stepfamily rather than blood family here, hence Anne's family name being Warwick, and how political families are sort of like darker versions of the Kennedys, with mob-style hits going on all the time (Richard's father and Edmund were killed by a car bomb, for example, and everyone knows the Lancasters were behind it, even if they can't prove it), and it's maaaaaaybe possible that one of those phone calls Richard's placing at the end is to have somebody take out Edward Lancaster. Also Richard is Edward's campaign manager and will end up as his chief of staff, then his VP after William Hastings gets caught up in a prostitution scandal. They give George a plum role of some sort but of course he mucks it up and gets himself killed. Poor Anne miscarried Richard's baby soon after her marriage to Edward, and he's emotionally if not physically abusive. Richard will probably beat him up in a dark alley at some point for this, risking the entire campaign. I have SO MANY FEELINGS, clearly.

(I HAVE NOT. This must be rectified immediately.)

...YES. *claps hands with glee* And Anne Neville is Anne Warwick-Lancaster's pen name, since her writing is her only escape from being Edward Lancaster's perfect supportive spouse? And poor Isabel is, as always, awkwardly in the middle. And VP!Richard=perfect. Because of course that means he has perfect right to take over after Edward--at least until his dirty laundry comes tumbling out--and most likely it's his rage-fueled, inelegant arrangement for Lancaster that gives them enough evidence to link it all to him, and then it all goes to pieces. This really does start to take over your brain after a while!
(Yes, yes, you should! It's really good, and I think you'd like it! :)

Argh yes, Isabel tries to tell everyone she's apolitical and not a bit of it concerns her, and then she pulls out one truly show stopping deal at some point, because she's more savvy than everyone thinks.

Oh yes, it isn't going to look good for Richard when Eddie Lancaster dies and Richard marries his widow a little too soon afterwards. And when Margaret Lancaster (the former Secretary of State) teams up with Margaret Beaufort and her rising star of a son, oh dear...

And then there's those scandalous pics of Richard and his scantily-clad college age niece Elizabeth leaving his apartment late one night, with her in tears...but Richard can't reveal the real reason why, because Elizabeth had gotten into trouble at a party where there were drugs, and came to him for help.

I think it's devoured my brain whole...

Re: Isabel. Yep *nods*. And Margaret Anjou Lancaster as secretary of state, heaven help us all.
Ooh, and the rumors only get worse when Elizabeth York graduates and Richard promptly has her serve as White House hostess instead of Anne--because they're still trying their best to keep the First Lady's illness under wraps....

re: Elizabeth as hostess - yesssss why did I not think of that!!

Oh, and the random bit I'd forgotten to mention - their sister Margaret is married to the Prime Minister of Canada, which is where Richard and Edward fled to when everything went to shit for a while.

(On a sidenote: Oh, noble British people, why did you only know a dozen names? You're as bad as the Romans!!)

Margaret being the Prime Minister's wife works so well! And oh, I just realized the horrid Calais incident could just as well be Anne in this universe, couldn't it?
(I know--I mean, Elizabeth and Margaret and Anne are all very nice names, yes, but surely we could have some variety there, yes?)

Thanks! There seems to be all sorts of headcanon for it, at least! This ficathon always gives me so many ideas...
