3 Sentence Ficathon

3 Sentence Ficathon Banner

EDIT!  THIS POST IS NOW CLOSED TO NEW PROMPTS,  PLEASE POST NEW PROMPTS
HERE!

CaramelSilver isn’t running the awesome 3 sentence ficathon this year, but she said I could do it in her place!!  (Banner courtesy of CaramelSilver and thanks so much!)

What is the 3 Sentence Ficathon?
This is a challenge where you answer a prompt with a fic consisting of only three sentences. It's open to all fandoms and you can post and answer as many prompts as you like, as many times as you want.

What do I do?
You post prompts!  When posting a prompt please format it this way:

fandom, character/pairing, prompt word/sentence.

Only one prompt per comment please.

What else?
You answer other posters' prompts in three sentences (or more if you can't stop yourself) and fill as many prompts as you want, as many times as you wish.  If you see that a prompt you loved has already been filled, go ahead and fill it again!  Multiple fills of the same prompt allowed.

I'm not a member of Dreamwidth
No problem.  You can comment anonymously or through open ID

Can anyone play?
Yes!  Please pimp this to your flist, I'd like as many as possible to come and participate!

I'm cross-posting to LJ but we will keep all prompts and fills here, so they are in one awesome place (and with less spam).

Here's a link for spreading the word to all your friends and comms (thanks [personal profile] snacky !)

How long can it go?
CaramelSilver kept the 2011 3 Sentence Ficathon up for a month.  I'd suggest closing it on Sunday, April 7, 2013.  How does that sound? (edit:  If we reach 5,000 comments sooner, I'll start a new one).

Are there any rules about cross-posting?
Nope, you can post wherever you want, whenever you want.  Last year, a lot of folks collected their responses together and posted them on AO3 under the 3 sentence fiction tag.

Gosh who are all these people writing such great prompts and fills?
Good question!  Come to the friending meme and introduce yourself if you like.

As  [personal profile] lady_songsmith explains, for the 2011 3 Sentence Ficathon, [livejournal.com profile] grim_lupine created a delicious account to archive the 3 Sentence Ficathon.   [personal profile] lady_songsmith has reactivated the archive on delicious for this challenge, so, here is the account (nothing current added yet, though): https://previous.delicious.com/3sentence She asks that if anyone would be willing to help knock down the backlog of the prolific-ness thus far, let her know!!  (She adds:  I know folks are kinda down on delicious with the changes, but, hey, it's an archive already set up with useful tags!)

On the subject of archiving, I really encourage people to collect and post their fills elsewhere.  That way, we can find your work more easily again, redundancy is always good and it's really useful for future remixes and other challenges and gift exchanges you might participate in. I'll start a linking post so that if you do collect all your fills and post them on your own blog or an archive like AO3, you can give give us the link in comments.

In the Company of Strangers

[personal profile] tiny_white_hats 2013-03-21 08:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Bilbo is not an adventurer, not the type accustomed to journeys longer than a mid-afternoon stroll to visit the Brandybucks or Tooks on the westerly end of the Shire, but here he is, astride a rather large horse and in the company of strangers. It's altogether unsettling and quite intimidating, journeying with dwarves (and one rather perculiar wizard), because dwarves, with their loud, bellowing voices and their wandering feet, are so very different than hobbits, and Bilbo can scarcely understand them on any count. But then, one dwarf (Kili, perhaps?) begins to sing, in a surprisingly sweet voice that reminds him of when Elder Took would sing ballads at hazy twilight celebrations; he sings a song about the winding, reaching road, and one by one the other dwarves join in, until they all sing the same steady chorus again, and Bilbo tentatively opens his mouth to sing along.

Re: ...well, admittedly that last Richard/Anne fill deserves this

[personal profile] vialethe 2013-03-21 08:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, it involved the phrase "we're still young" said in some kind of hope...

I could still write it out, if you really wanted! But you'd be asking for it.

Oh god, and then moves on to "rocks fall [TB strikes, battle ensues], everyone dies," doesn't it? Well, I am never going to say no to wonderful Richard/Anne, but I trust you to gauge exactly much sadness it will cause, haha!
(BTW, left a...hopefully happy Henry/Eleanor prompt, just FYI :)

Ugh yes, that no matter what she feels for him, she can see his future, and her own, and knows that they don't coincide. In a way I kind of like the desperation of that, cause I'm obviously masochistic over here or something, but it's terribly tragic.

Yes, totally! I loved this, loved it, loved it! I'm not all to familiar with Magicians of Caprona either, but this seems really quite accurate, and I agree, they are, as you put it, the most competent starcrossed lovers ever!

It does, but at the same time I just really love the contrast inherent between genuinely wanting to do good, even in the situation you propose, so yeah. :D
(OMG I know! I like the rest of Lewis's work well enough, but then you hit TWHF and it's so lovely and well-characterized and understanding towards Orual's plight and afafjk;lkl )

They are the best! (I have to admit, the first time I read the book, I totally missed the glaring hints as to what was going on, so I went from "I have no clue why this plot point is in the book" to "AHAHAHA brilliant!!! :D :D :D")

I love Anthea to a ridiculous degree, even if she is the Typical DWJ Grumpy Older Sister (...but I am always greatly amused by the Typical DWJ Grumpy Older Sister, so it works) so I'm very glad her characterization came across well here! (And "driven," haha! :D )

I really don't think I got very much out of it when I read it either, but I have the excuse that I knew pretty much the least I possibly could about Romeo and Juliet then. Still, I really loved the reveal. (Probably my favorite scene in all of MoC was the one where Tonino and Angelica(?) had to work together when they were trapped as puppets. Pure hilarity.)

Pride & Prejudice '95

There are a lot of issues that Fitzwilliam Darcy will have to address in the future, not the least being finding an explanation for how these pictures in the little box got moving, but first, he has to impress his wife with one thing.

"Elizabeth - I've never, ever, jumped into that pond and you shouldn't either. You'll catch your death in there for sure."

*cracks up* AHAHAHA. Given that I've always been secretly convinced bookverse! Darcy would never be caught dead in a pond, particularly by visitors, this is BRILLIANT. Especially when it is the first thing he needs to tell Elizabeth, even before figuring out what the moving pictures mean, oh my god.
(also, icon love :D)
