3 Sentence Ficathon

CaramelSilver isn’t running the awesome 3 sentence ficathon this year, but she said I could do it in her place!!  (Banner courtesy of CaramelSilver and thanks so much!)

What is the 3 Sentence Ficathon?
This is a challenge where you answer a prompt with a fic consisting of only three sentences. It's open to all fandoms and you can post and answer as many prompts as you like, as many times as you want.

What do I do?
You post prompts!  When posting a prompt please format it this way:

fandom, character/pairing, prompt word/sentence.

Only one prompt per comment please.

What else?
You answer other posters' prompts in three sentences (or more if you can't stop yourself) and fill as many prompts as you want, as many times as you wish.  If you see that a prompt you loved has already been filled, go ahead and fill it again!  Multiple fills of the same prompt allowed.

How long can it go? 
CaramelSilver kept the 2011 3 Sentence Ficathon up for a month.  I'd suggest closing it on Sunday, April 7, 2013.  How does that sound? (edit:  If we reach 5,000 comments sooner, I'll start a new one).

Are there any rules about cross-posting?
Nope, you can post wherever you want, whenever you want.  Last year, a lot of folks collected their responses together and posted them on AO3 under the 3 sentence fiction tag.

Gosh who are all these people writing such great prompts and fills?
Good question!  Come to the friending meme and introduce yourself if you like.

As  lady_songsmith explains, for the 2011 3 Sentence Ficathon, grim_lupine created a delicious account to archive the 3 Sentence Ficathon.   lady_songsmith has reactivated the archive on delicious for this challenge, so, here is the account (nothing current added yet, though): https://previous.delicious.com/3sentence She asks that if anyone would be willing to help knock down the backlog of the prolific-ness thus far, let her know!!  (She adds:  I know folks are kinda down on delicious with the changes, but, hey, it's an archive already set up with useful tags!)

On the subject of archiving, I really encourage people to collect and post their fills elsewhere.  That way, we can find your work more easily again, redundancy is always good and it's really useful for future remixes and other challenges and gift exchanges you might participate in. I'll start a linking post so that if you do collect all your fills and post them on your own blog or an archive like AO3, you can give give us the link in comments.

Once Upon a Time, Regina, Unworthy

Regina really has changed every diaper, read every bedtime story, bandaged every scrape; if looking after someone were the same as loving them, not even Emma could doubt that Regina adores Henry.

When true love's kiss breaks Regina's curse on Storybrooke, Henry sits in the circle of Emma's arms and Regina knows Snow White's incomprehensible daughter holds his whole heart in her unworthy hands.

With everything she's worked for crumbling around her, with her son looking at her like she's the usurper - not Emma Swan who shouldn't even be here – Regina has never felt more like Henry's mother.

This is delightful. It is GREAT how you use the idea of the hooked nose, the penchant for solving other peoples' troubles, and the pipeweed/tobacco to link the same character over time. It is utter crack and utterly delightful.

I giggled the whole time I was writing this and looking things up—I thought Holmes's dressing gown was mauve, but then one source said it was mouse-colored, which fits so perfectly. Also the questions! Never forget the questions and the refusal to answer them until he's good and ready! :-D

Oh, I like this very much. I think I've now read several of your pieces where the same thought has struck me -- that you have a real gift for writing women and relationships in ways that seem balanced, thoughtful, sane, romantic and just... equal. Equality is such a fundamental part of Peter and Harriet's relationship and you capture so well the idea that he notices her notice, and yet lets her go. Thank you.

Gosh, thank you. That means really a lot you saying that, because that is *exactly* what I'm always aiming for. I'm just so fed up with the trope of women who need to be persuaded into love for their own good because they don't know themselves until they've had a man explain it to them, that I'm determined only to write women who take charge of their own love-life, and of course men who do likewise, and couples who want each other to be just equals.

“I can’t afford you,” Malik says bluntly, running his hand through his hair and trying not to think of budget sheets, because finding funding for ridiculous, ambitious passion projects is nigh-impossible.

Altair blinks when he looks up from the script and says, “I’ll do it anyways--you want to do this right, right?” with all the assurance of someone who knows that he’s good, and that Malik could take another stuntman or actor, but it wouldn’t be the same; it's then, maybe, that Malik starts thinking that it can really happen.

It takes years yet, but Altair comes every time Malik calls from whatever locations he can wrangle with other jobs, when he has a crew and a camera and a few days to spare, and Altair flies through the air in Argentina, in Turkey, in India, and he’s there even after that, when he hesitantly shakes Malik awake in the editing room, and after, when the lights fall in the theatre and Malik feels Altair’s starched cuff brush against his own as the projector rolls.
