3 Sentence Ficathon

3 Sentence Ficathon Banner

EDIT!  THIS POST IS NOW CLOSED TO NEW PROMPTS,  PLEASE POST NEW PROMPTS
HERE!

CaramelSilver isn’t running the awesome 3 sentence ficathon this year, but she said I could do it in her place!!  (Banner courtesy of CaramelSilver and thanks so much!)

What is the 3 Sentence Ficathon?
This is a challenge where you answer a prompt with a fic consisting of only three sentences. It's open to all fandoms and you can post and answer as many prompts as you like, as many times as you want.

What do I do?
You post prompts!  When posting a prompt please format it this way:

fandom, character/pairing, prompt word/sentence.

Only one prompt per comment please.

What else?
You answer other posters' prompts in three sentences (or more if you can't stop yourself) and fill as many prompts as you want, as many times as you wish.  If you see that a prompt you loved has already been filled, go ahead and fill it again!  Multiple fills of the same prompt allowed.

I'm not a member of Dreamwidth
No problem.  You can comment anonymously or through open ID

Can anyone play?
Yes!  Please pimp this to your flist, I'd like as many as possible to come and participate!

I'm cross-posting to LJ but we will keep all prompts and fills here, so they are in one awesome place (and with less spam).

Here's a link for spreading the word to all your friends and comms (thanks [personal profile] snacky !)

How long can it go?
CaramelSilver kept the 2011 3 Sentence Ficathon up for a month.  I'd suggest closing it on Sunday, April 7, 2013.  How does that sound? (edit:  If we reach 5,000 comments sooner, I'll start a new one).

Are there any rules about cross-posting?
Nope, you can post wherever you want, whenever you want.  Last year, a lot of folks collected their responses together and posted them on AO3 under the 3 sentence fiction tag.

Gosh who are all these people writing such great prompts and fills?
Good question!  Come to the friending meme and introduce yourself if you like.

As  [personal profile] lady_songsmith explains, for the 2011 3 Sentence Ficathon, [livejournal.com profile] grim_lupine created a delicious account to archive the 3 Sentence Ficathon.   [personal profile] lady_songsmith has reactivated the archive on delicious for this challenge, so, here is the account (nothing current added yet, though): https://previous.delicious.com/3sentence She asks that if anyone would be willing to help knock down the backlog of the prolific-ness thus far, let her know!!  (She adds:  I know folks are kinda down on delicious with the changes, but, hey, it's an archive already set up with useful tags!)

On the subject of archiving, I really encourage people to collect and post their fills elsewhere.  That way, we can find your work more easily again, redundancy is always good and it's really useful for future remixes and other challenges and gift exchanges you might participate in. I'll start a linking post so that if you do collect all your fills and post them on your own blog or an archive like AO3, you can give give us the link in comments.

That's true, at least Creusa got to be happy and have a husband she loved and a family and all that for a few years.

Sigh...I'd love them to have a doomed affair until Priam is like 'uh no, you can't marry her, she's crazypants' or something else bad happens. Oh, doomed rare pairs, you'll be the death of me.

I Will Wait for You

"Dead?" she repeats foolishly, unable to believe she is now a widow, that they haven't perhaps mixed up the Edwards, though hers and Richard's are little enough alike.

But Yes, she hears, and, killed by the brother, they say, the hunchbacked one, devil take him, and then, oh then Anne believes it.

She sinks to her knees in prayer, thinking of Richard's crooked shoulders and powerful arms, and shivers, and prays for the patience to wait.

Further up and further in! Lucy lived and breathed the mantra as she continued to close the gap that separated Narnia from the other worlds, climbing up and down the ring of mountains, skipping lightly across the rocks in the rivers, swimming up waterfalls instead of sliding down them and running—always running through the grass and in between the trees that gracefully parted to allow the Queen and her brothers through.

When she finally reached the real England, she and the two Kings ran straight for their parents' outstretched arms with smiles and tears on their faces, free at last to reveal their true selves and the secrets they kept from the two that raised them to be who they were.

Feferi looks adorable even in the heat of the fight, as she matches Meenah blow for blow, pivot and kick for kick and pivot, stabbing trident for clanging block; she looks coddamn glorious, in fact, gills swollen, mouth laughing, hair streaming like kelp.

"I'll kill you," Meenah sighs when they've fought to yet another draw, "I have to."

"Until then," Fef says, giggling as she kisses her.

*grins* Haven't the faintest idea what you're talking about....But! This is (unsurprisingly) magnificent, and how much do I love that you have hints of Shakespeare's Richard in the background as well? :D

Not sure if this is what you were looking for...

One evening Sara and Becky steal away, up the stairs to the dim dustiness of the Indian gentleman's attic, where a naughty monkey once escaped and set the magic in motion.

Sara drags a table to the window, and she and Becky stand on it and gaze out at a Splendid one, a sunset that paints the chimneys and rooftops of the city with lavender and rose and gold.

Becky says in a hushed voice, "Oh Miss, it may seem queer, but I've missed this, I 'ave," and Sara holds the prisoner in the next cell tightly by the hand and replies, "So have I."

Thanks! It's baffling (if you're trying to take it seriously, at least) that Shakespeare's Richard was so horribly deformed, yet still managed to run around killing everybody and fighting in battles. Oh Shakespeare, you historical hack.

But of course his enemies probably did say horrible things about him even before he was king, so.

But Shakespeare's Richard is a terrible person who cheats and fights dishonorably anyway, so it's pretty much a moot point! Haha, I love Shakespeare but this play might as well have "I LOVE AND WHOLEHEARTEDLY SUPPORT THE TUDORS, SEE? SEE?" stamped on it, quite understandably.

That's such an interesting take on the prompt, I would never have thought of it! I love that Bruce can't sleep, so he just observes her (being a scientist), and that she sort of reveals herself in sleep - being Natasha, I wouldn't be surprised if she knew all that about sleeping positions and was choosing to reveal something to Bruce in that way!

Yeah, I love Shakespeare as long as I stay away from his history plays, which tend to make me want to punch him in the face (okay, not Henry V). Of course it's obvious why he wrote them as he did, but still. Haaaaaaack.

It is pretty much a moot point when he just sneaks around stabbing everyone in the back, but still. BAD SHAKESPEARE, no cookie.

"Bare breasted?" Henry murmurs, closely inspecting the parts in question.

"Like the Amazons of old," Eleanor responds, threading her fingers into the red of his hair, "and Louis may not have appreciated it, but his troops damn well did."

Henry looks up at her with something halfway between lust and amazement in his face, and says, "If I go to war with France, will you ride along?" and she laughs and pushes his head further down, and marvels that this man could possibly be so perfect.

Next time, Jonathan promises himself, he's locking his baby sister and her husband in the brig and making a run for it.

"I'm sorry," Rick barks from one side of the airship, "you pick now, after we've just escaped with our lives--" (from mummies, Jonathan supplies) "--after you returned from the dead--" (fortunately not as a mummy) "--to tell me you kissed...him--(oh, another mummy; what a surprise!) "--back in the desert eleven years ago."

Evie just raises her chin and retorts, "It seemed like a good idea at the time."
