3 Sentence Ficathon

3 Sentence Ficathon Banner

EDIT!  THIS POST IS NOW CLOSED TO NEW PROMPTS,  PLEASE POST NEW PROMPTS
HERE!

CaramelSilver isn’t running the awesome 3 sentence ficathon this year, but she said I could do it in her place!!  (Banner courtesy of CaramelSilver and thanks so much!)

What is the 3 Sentence Ficathon?
This is a challenge where you answer a prompt with a fic consisting of only three sentences. It's open to all fandoms and you can post and answer as many prompts as you like, as many times as you want.

What do I do?
You post prompts!  When posting a prompt please format it this way:

fandom, character/pairing, prompt word/sentence.

Only one prompt per comment please.

What else?
You answer other posters' prompts in three sentences (or more if you can't stop yourself) and fill as many prompts as you want, as many times as you wish.  If you see that a prompt you loved has already been filled, go ahead and fill it again!  Multiple fills of the same prompt allowed.

I'm not a member of Dreamwidth
No problem.  You can comment anonymously or through open ID

Can anyone play?
Yes!  Please pimp this to your flist, I'd like as many as possible to come and participate!

I'm cross-posting to LJ but we will keep all prompts and fills here, so they are in one awesome place (and with less spam).

Here's a link for spreading the word to all your friends and comms (thanks [personal profile] snacky !)

How long can it go?
CaramelSilver kept the 2011 3 Sentence Ficathon up for a month.  I'd suggest closing it on Sunday, April 7, 2013.  How does that sound? (edit:  If we reach 5,000 comments sooner, I'll start a new one).

Are there any rules about cross-posting?
Nope, you can post wherever you want, whenever you want.  Last year, a lot of folks collected their responses together and posted them on AO3 under the 3 sentence fiction tag.

Gosh who are all these people writing such great prompts and fills?
Good question!  Come to the friending meme and introduce yourself if you like.

As  [personal profile] lady_songsmith explains, for the 2011 3 Sentence Ficathon, [livejournal.com profile] grim_lupine created a delicious account to archive the 3 Sentence Ficathon.   [personal profile] lady_songsmith has reactivated the archive on delicious for this challenge, so, here is the account (nothing current added yet, though): https://previous.delicious.com/3sentence She asks that if anyone would be willing to help knock down the backlog of the prolific-ness thus far, let her know!!  (She adds:  I know folks are kinda down on delicious with the changes, but, hey, it's an archive already set up with useful tags!)

On the subject of archiving, I really encourage people to collect and post their fills elsewhere.  That way, we can find your work more easily again, redundancy is always good and it's really useful for future remixes and other challenges and gift exchanges you might participate in. I'll start a linking post so that if you do collect all your fills and post them on your own blog or an archive like AO3, you can give give us the link in comments.

"I'm not sure that's-" began Mrs. Hudson, but it was too late.

Lestrade opened the fridge door then hastily slammed it shut again with a startled, "Good god, there's a head in there."

"Well, boys will be boys," she offered feebly.

He is a good letter-writer, that at least she can say, Eleanor thinks, he is a lot like Henry in this. The question, however, is if love, even if it is the sincerest, truest love imaginable, can survive on a letter or two a week, and the promise that one day, everything will change for the better. She looks up from her letter and out of the window, and she sees Henry and Miss Morland outside in the park, talking a walk, displaying no care for the world at all, and she wonders if for some people, it really is that easy.

The Academy only takes so many applicants a year, a set number from each colony, and the applications basically involve begging and pleading various governmental officials for sponsorship along with all the rest of it. All of Kara's letters and e-mails from her colonial reps have gone unanswered so far and she's beginning to despair, until she lucks out -- stops to help a well-dressed woman up when she trips over a discarded soda can in a maglev station. She helps her up, sees the government badge sticking out of her pocket, and after a bit of polite prodding they fall into an easy conversation on the train: a week later, she has a sponsor and an acceptance letter.

So she noticed the hands, he thinks wryly. One wonders whether her remembering their shape means that she is harbouring a little attraction to them, somewhere - but he shakes his head and lets that thought go. Maybe it is Oxford that has made everything different, but he cannot play the suave fool who relentlessly pursues her anymore.

Merida sighed, rubbing the sides of her temples. She really wanted to blame this one on her son's father, but really this came entirely from her. There really was no other way to explain Legolas's love for riding off into the sunset with his hair flowing in the wind.

Oh yes, this is perfect, the way she is drawn to them and yet sometimes repulsed, the history they share with each other which also divides them. Perfect. Thank you.

I find it fascinating how quickly River can break Jayne. I feel sure she could do it just as easily to the others, but she tries not to. I think she takes a sadistic watching him squirm - and I kind of do too :)

It's entirely inappropriate and wrong - Malik has no right to grin at him, his shoulders lightly dusted in snow, and then pull off his hood, revealing how the cold wind has pinched his nose and cheeks pink, just so that Altair can't help but notice that there are, of all things, bright white snowflakes stuck to Malik's eyelashes. He feels himself grow warm, then hot with indignation as he tries to say something scathing and fails miserably in a tumble of incomprehensible words and stuttering.

Malik, ever helpful, shoves a handful of snow down the nape of his gray novice robes and cools him right off.
