The idea occurred to me while I was on the treadmill and thinking about the new Temeraire book due next year, Crucible of Gold. For those of you who don't know the series, it's penned by Naomi Novik and is an alternate history set during the Napoleonic Wars and posits what the world would have looked like with dragons. I adore the series. It's really, really daunting to write Temeraire fan fic, but once it bit, I really couldn't let it go because Eustace and DRAGONS, in combat. A part of the 'verse is that the Longwing breed of dragons will accept only female handlers, which causes no end of trouble in the times in which the books are set. That of course led to the idea that Captain Lucy Pevensie aboard a Longwing Acid spitter was inevitable. I'd originally thought that Peter ends up signing up and is in the crew of some big combat heavyweight as a gunner. I've not read a lot of Temeraire fic, though I'm very fond of the cross over that
