I miss you LJ!

We interrupt this wailing and gnashing of teeth because for a moment it seems we can post on LJ and I miss LJ and the Flist and yes, I know this is mostly about the big bad mob trying to suppress Russian political expression on LJ, but I also really miss LJ and the Friends List!!!    As [livejournal.com profile] snacky  says, it's a First World problem.  My NFE is in and now I'm hanging with someone I met through Narnia fandom for the next few days and she's totally not an axe murderer and we are having a fabulous time.
Also, I'm starting to think about my femgenficathon prompts (which I don't think are secret, are they?  It was a public sign up and public assignment, right?
Prompt 159:  I have never found a human friend to whom I would dare tell all I know; the human heart is too small to bear it. -- Gertrud of Helfta (c.1256-1302), German nun, author and translator.
And
Prompt 72: My wish is to ride the tempest, tame the waves, kill the sharks. I will not resign myself to the usual lot of women who bow their heads and become concubines.
-- Trieu Thi Trinh (225-248), 3rd-century Vietnamese revolutionary who led a rebellion against Chinese invaders. Known as "the Vietnamese Joan of Arc."
So, I have some ideas for both, but thought I would share as I'm always interested in what others think.

I'm trying really hard to NOT think about the "marrying the land" rituals of Narnian monarchs and Harold and Morgan in Archenland and trying to concentrate on getting back into the Apostolic Way groove.

Mostly, I'm just happy that LJ is up for a moment and that NFE posts should begin very soon. I hope you all are well and it's hot here and getting hotter and I'm going to see Harry Potter and the DH part 2 for the third time this weekend with said Narnia friend.  And she's not an axe murderer at all.

Hoping LJ won't crash on me...

Anyway, I rather like Prompt #72. That could work well with a wide variety of characters and fandoms. Susan, Lucy, Aravis in Narnia. Gwen and Morgana in Merlin.

Prompt #159 actually seems suited for Edmund in a way. At least, your version of Ed. :-)

And sounds like the two of you are having a great time! Just try to keep cool the next few days. :-)

Oh, think about the "marrying the land" rituals. You know you want to. :)

I think Prompt #72 could be peculiarly suited to your Susan. Is there a piece of her story that you haven't told yet? You mentioned to me that 159 reminded you of Aravis, which I think could also work very well.

And Autumnia, when I first read Prompt 72, I was immediately reminded of your Lucy from "Pirate Queen." :)

Hah. That never occurred to me! But you're right, Pirate Queen Lucy would fit prompt 72 very well.

I know I want to. I'm just tied up right now with long, deep conversations between a horse and her girl, Doctor Who, and filling in Polly Plummer backstory -- all for femgen - since it's supposed to be "fem" and "gen" that means the ladies or girls and gen rather than shipping. And yes, I thought of Pirate Lucy, too, because one can never have enough pirate Lucy.

You do sound quite occupied! Ah, well, the Kingmaking rituals will keep. I'm just as happy to read about Aravis and Polly, in any case. :) And you're right. One can never have enough Pirate Lucy.

Archaeopteryx

Not directly related to this post, but I saw this article:

"Archaeopteryx knocked off its perch"
http://www.chinadaily.com.cn/cndy/2011-07/29/content_13006630.htm

and thought of Mary Anning Russell, Eustace and Apostolic Way. I kept waiting for the article to mention hips, but it does not :-P

This is where my own saurian anatomy falls apart as, like Eustace, I can't quite figure out why, if dinosaurs evolved from the lizard hipped saurischians, why the others are called "bird hipped" ornithiscians. We're actually going to the natural history museum tomorrow!!! I admit I still love dinosaurs. Thanks for the link, H.!

Prompt 159 made me immediately think of Peter but I can see Susan fitting it just as well :)

Any of your versions of the more outgoing female characters could fit prompt 72. My brain thinks of a backstory fic featuring a young Mary Ann Russell asking all sorts of questions of Diggory and Asim.

...Part of me wants to see what would come of marrying the land ritual thoughts and another part of me wants to see what comes next in Apostolic Way xD ALL of me would love to read more of anything!

HA, great minds. I was actually thinking Polly for 72, but had thought of squeezing Mary in there in one part -- slices where Polly experiences magic or learns something unexpected and I'm sort of smitten with the idea of Mary and Polly crossing the desert on camels.

I've actually got a Dr Who idea for 159 that returns me to the Oxford Museum of Natural History and dinosaurs... Though I also love an Aravis and Hwin story -- I could do both.... decisions decisions...

Huzzah I can actually comment to this!!!

Have a wonderful time with the not!axe murderer :DDD

And prompt wise, I like the idea of Susan and Lambert, but the second one is just so Lucy in Spare Oom (the second time), possibly being told off by her school for not acting proper and for all the letters she's firing off left right and centre :))

I know, LJ it is so wonderful to have you back. I feel like we should right anthromorphic fic celebrating her return. Oh and you are right about Lucy arguing with someone at school! Hmmmm.

Just out of curiosity.
Is there any chance that you'll write something?

write something? me?

[identity profile] rthstewart.livejournal.com 2011-08-11 07:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Let's see -- in the next 3 weeks, I'll have two stories up on the Narnia Fic Exchange, including one that will probably come in at close to 20,000 words -- I'm still working on it. Also, I'll have two stories for the femgen ficathon by September 8 -- on that is Narnia based and one that is from Series 6 of Doctor Who. Also, I did close the Lone Islands story arc in the Harold and Morgan story where your own views on Constance were vindicated, so... yes. Does that help?

After that, I return to Apostolic Way. I think.

I know you ended Lone Island episode. I didn't comment the last chapter because it appeared when I had no access to the Internet (vacation). When I came back there were so many comments, which went so far from the original subject, that I decided just to leave it.
I'm waiting for new stories and new chapters of AW.
