So, I doubt this is what

animus_wyrmis was expecting. It wasn't what I was expecting. And this particular vision of Edmund isn't really where I put him in my own head canon, but hey, everyone loves them a little Ed angst, right? Especially when a Star is there to cut him down to size.

Liliandil finds the Just King staring at the Stone Knife on Aslan’s Table. He is, like her, very old on the inside and so very young on the outside.

“She killed Aslan with that knife,” he says. “Lucy told me of it. He did it for me.”

“Think you?” Liliandil asks for, as wise as he is, she thinks the Just King assumes more than he ought and that this blood guilt misapprehends much.

“You disagree with Aslan?” His tone is mocking. King Edmund is unaccustomed to anyone disagreeing with him.

“I disagree with your understanding,” Liliandil retorts. “Blood for blood, eye for eye, this for that. Such bargaining is not Aslan’s way.”

“And if not a bargain made, his blood for my life, than what was it?”

“Love,” she tells the King of Justice. “Aslan died for love, for love of you, for love of your family who wished your return, for love of those whom, by your life well-lived, you have saved and shall save, for love of Narnia, for even loving pity for Jadis.”

“I am not deserving of such love,” the Just King finally says as the birds call and the Stars begin their song.

“None of us is so deserving, my King, yet we have it all the same.”

And then, obviously, hot hurt/comfort sex follows. And, no, I’m not going to write it.

For not-TSG canon, this was still just as much fun to read! I assume this is more in line with that Lucy/Liliandil story you wrote?

Ah Edmund. It's nice to see a scene where he addresses or comes to term with seeing the Stone Knife at Aslan's Table. And even after all these years, he still doesn't see that all has been forgiven and what's past is past.

This. This is exactly what I have always thought would be the realization Edmund must come to, after learning what Aslan did. Interesting to address it at Ramandu's Island, but in a good-interesting way. Also, I really, really like the very old, wise Lilliandil you have here.

Thanks so much! I really like Liliandil as wise woman. And I always have written Edmund as very reconciled to who he is, what he had done, and his atonement and forgiveness. So, the idea of returning to it at this late date was odd for me. But, fun. I enjoyed it.

Oh I love how he is so much the Just King and yet, even after all this time, is still thinking about it that way :)

Very nice, very sophisticated. I like that Edmund, even after all, thinks about what happened on the Stone Table in the way that Jadis would have (I'm sure she thought she was driving a bargain, and getting the better deal) -- while Liliandil thinks about it from Aslan's transcendent perspective.

Are you at all interested in what kind of sin a star might have committed?

Thank you! I'm glad you liked it. I've enjoyed doing the empowered, wise woman, Liliandil. It would be fun to put her into appearances -- I 'd lost to write her literally as the old crone. As for the sins of the Star -- pride would seem the most logical, but what the sin could be that could so great, I don't know. A pride over Aslan or trying to usurp the prerogative of the Lion, maybe?

This is wonderful; it would have been so nice to get a scene with Edmund and Lilliandil. I very much like her as the wise woman. As for the sins of stars, if I had sufficient imagination (I might) and time (I never will), I would love to write Coriakin's story and discover precisely what he did that landed him on an island full of Dufflepuds. While it may not have been terrible, surely it was some kind of folly. I have always been so curious to know what, exactly, made him the Magician the Dufflepuds know...

Thank you! I know I've read a Coriakin story or two. FYI this was done in response to a meme challenge. If you click on my meme tag you'll see what these are and how they come to be. They are very fun and an enormous time suck. I did love the DT film much, but I did like the possibilities that opened up. I did underestimate the power of the Caspian/Susan ship. That is one the fen will not give up on and I had hoped to see more Liliandil fic -- I admit I ship her with Lucy and did so in the Follow the Star story, of a sort.

I have yet to read Follow the Star, but I'll get there. I'll have to hunt for some Coriakin stories; I would like to see what people have done with him/for him as a character. I agree with you about the Susan/Caspian ship; it's ridiculously powerful and needs to be taken down with a cannon or two (pun absolutely intended!). You know I loved what you did with that in TQSiT; it will be interesting to see if we get any more of that part of Susan's story. In any case, yes, Lilliandil as Wise Woman, excellent, and I will check out the meme tag.

Every body forgave Edmund. So when will Edmund forgive himself?

Glad Lilliandil reminded Edmund about Aslan and why he laid down his life for him, his family and Narnia because of love.
