Three Sentence Ficathon
THIS POST IS NOW CLOSED TO NEW PROMPTS. PLEASE POST NEW PROMPTS HERE.
You can go ahead and continue to respond to prompts and comment on them here but please don't post any new prompts .
Welcome to the Three Sentence Ficathon!
UPDATE 1 HERE- 2 Feb
UPDATE 2 HERE 6 Feb
What is the 3 Sentence Ficathon?
This is a challenge where you answer a prompt with a fic consisting of only three sentences. It's open to all fandoms and you can post and answer as many prompts as you like, as many times as you want.
What do I do first?
You can start 3SF by posting prompts! When posting a prompt please format it this way:
Only one prompt per comment please. So, for example,
Open ended and anthropomorphic fills are popular too, such as:
What else?
You answer other posters' prompts in three sentences (or more if you can't stop yourself) and fill as many prompts as you want, as many times as you wish. If you see that a prompt you loved has already been filled, go ahead and fill it again! Multiple fills of the same prompt are allowed and even encouraged! (We get really fun stories going this way).
Can I still post if I need more than 3 sentences? Or should I just abuse grammar in ways the English language never contemplated?
Yes. Yes.
But I'm not a member of Dreamwidth
No problem. You can comment anonymously or through open ID
Can anyone play?
Yes! Please signal boost this to your flist, followers, and any other places you frequent. Come one, come all!
The more people who come and play, the better!
Can I spread the word?
Yes, please. I generally fail at creating banners and embed codes but if you create one and make it really idiot-proof, I might manage it. Or we can just cross-post. If you create one, I'll try to post it and everyone can use it.
How long will it go?
Until February 29, 2020. But the entry stays open permanently.
Are there any rules about cross-posting?
Nope, you can post wherever you want, whenever you want. A lot of folks collected their responses together and posted them on AO3 under the 3 sentence fiction tag. 3SFs are a terrific prompt for remixes and could be helpful for Yuletide bears, too.

What about spoilers, content and archive warnings, triggers, pairings, ratings, tags, and squick?
I thought a lot about this. It wasn't an issue the last 3 times I ran this. In my experience, this typically gets too big, moves too fast, and the stories are too short for content warnings and ratings to even apply. It is too big for me to moderate in this way. You should assume spoilers are fair game and that the initial poster and the responder have opted to use no content warnings or tags. This means AO3 content warnings for dubcon, violence, canon character death, underage, etc. COULD be present. I've found personally that I can skim and scroll by stuff that, from the prompt, I can tell isn't my favorite flavor of delicious cake. Use your best judgment and be prepared to skip over things that aren't your thing. In this format, the obligation is on you, the reader, to protect yourself from triggering content.

On the other hand, it will all be over soon, and an unfamiliar sweetness fills him each time the Commander – Alexander – repeats that he relies on him entirely.

Fill:Fire Emblem Three Houses, Edelgard & Claude & Dimitri
Opening the frontiers is a tall order - he doesn't have a plan yet, and agents on the inside would probably come in handy, or tools, or people with similar desires even; thing is, Edelgard heeds no advice and attempting to manipulate her for anything longer than a mock battle would probably get her pet snake to murder him, and Dimitri is too simple to look past the borders of Faerghus.
No-one can help Dimitri fix Faerghus, because there's no one but him - an uncle who spends more time partying than ruling, Western lords who resented his father what they perceived as preferential treatment for the East and now resent him for his friendship with the children of these same Eastern nobles, the tens of thousands of dead in the Tragedy and the destruction of Duscur, and hisfriendsDeduesparentsDeduessisterhismotherhisfather chanting for his attention when the shadows whisper at night and he's not--he's not doing enough, and there's nothing anyone in either the Alliance or the Empire can do for it.
Informed Trust (Naruto; MadaTobi)
Tobirama stretched lazily, rolling over beside him and winding an arm around his waist. "It worked, didn't it?" he asked in a low, relaxed murmur. "Besides, I didn't trust blindly, even to approaching you unarmed and openly - I knew something of what was important to you, even then, and I . . . trusted in the choices you would make, given the opening I offered."
The Silmarillion, Eärwen, Fëanor
If he had expected anyone, it would have been Fingolfin, who was far too much like his son and would try to repair things until they broke into dust, and not Eärwen, who had once stood on tiptoes and poured a pitcher of wine over Fëanor's head long before he had descended into kinslaying and madness.
"Do not look at me like you have never seen me before, Fëanáro," her words come fast and hard and he expects her to scream at him, but instead she only continues, "Come, we must be the first to trust in this new peace or else all the work my husband has done will be for naught."
Trust - Tiger & Bunny - Barnaby/Kotetsu
I was awful to you, he didn't say, because hell, if anybody knew that, it was Kotetsu.
Kotetsu reached over and took his hand. "You saved my daughter's life. You didn't arrest the kid when I asked you not to. You stayed back when I asked you to, let me give that kid a chance to be a hero. Even if you said it was for the points, even if it was partly for the points, even though we didn't get along...I knew I could trust you to do the right thing."
Barnaby absently rubbed his thumb over Kotetsu's hand. "I didn't know," he said quietly. "I didn't think you did, for the longest time."
"I know." Kotetsu pulled their hands to his mouth and kissed the back of Barnaby's. "I did a really bad job of showing you I trusted you. I'm trying to get better."
"You are," Barnaby said, and leaned over to kiss Kotetsu properly, this hopeless, ridiculous man who'd had his heart and his trust for so much longer than he wanted to admit.

prometheus and heracles [Portal | Oracle Turret, Chell]
That's a non-standard output—like everything else, you shouldn't know that specific sequence of syllables—but it's enough to make the thing stop moving, to make its optical inputs follow your path as the belt carries you toward the roar of fire and reclaimed metal.
Your processor's instruction set doesn't have anything relating to emotions, which is probably for the best, because you don't know how it could possibly cope with the sight of her vaulting over the railing and heading down the belt towards you, the end of the line ticking closer by the second.
[the Oracle Turret is one of my favorite parts of Portal 2. but, then, i've always been a big sucker for both foreshadowing and helpless machines that don't try to kill me ¯\_(ツ)_/¯]
