What is the 3 Sentence Ficathon?
This is a challenge where you answer a prompt with a fic consisting of only three sentences. It's open to all fandoms and you can post and answer as many prompts as you like, as many times as you want.

What do I do first?
You can start 3SF by posting prompts! When posting a prompt please format it this way:

fandom, character(s), prompt word/sentence.

Only one prompt per comment please. So, for example,

Star Wars, Obi-Wan Kenobi, I don't like sand."

Open ended and anthropomorphic fills are popular too, such as:

Any, Any, "I don't like sand."

or

Earth geography, sand, "I don't like humans very much, either."

What else?
You answer other posters' prompts in three sentences (or more if you can't stop yourself) and fill as many prompts as you want, as many times as you wish. If you see that a prompt you loved has already been filled, go ahead and fill it again! Multiple fills of the same prompt are allowed and even encouraged! (We get really fun stories going this way).

Can I still post if I need more than 3 sentences? Or should I just abuse grammar in ways the English language never contemplated?

Can I spread the word?
Yes, please. I generally fail at creating banners and embed codes but if you create one and make it really idiot-proof, I might manage it. Or we can just cross-post. If you create one, I'll try to post it and everyone can use it.

How long will it go?
Until February 29, 2020. But the entry stays open permanently.

Are there any rules about cross-posting?
Nope, you can post wherever you want, whenever you want. A lot of folks collected their responses together and posted them on AO3 under the 3 sentence fiction tag. 3SFs are a terrific prompt for remixes and could be helpful for Yuletide bears, too.

What about spoilers, content and archive warnings, triggers, pairings, ratings, tags, and squick?

I thought a lot about this. It wasn't an issue the last 3 times I ran this. In my experience, this typically gets too big, moves too fast, and the stories are too short for content warnings and ratings to even apply. It is too big for me to moderate in this way. You should assume spoilers are fair game and that the initial poster and the responder have opted to use no content warnings or tags. This means AO3 content warnings for dubcon, violence, canon character death, underage, etc. COULD be present.  I've found personally that I can skim and scroll by stuff that, from the prompt, I can tell isn't my favorite flavor of delicious cake. Use your best judgment and be prepared to skip over things that aren't your thing. In this format, the obligation is on you, the reader, to protect yourself from triggering content.

"Ship mascot?" Poe tried, and Finn sighed through his teeth.

“I caught a catch,” said Poe, patting the Ewok on its fluffy head and jerking his hand away before it could bite him, “just like you always said, for luck.”

“It was Lieutenant Ketcch, you nerfherder!” Janson gasped between hoots of laughter, “and it was just a toy, not a real Ewok — now put that poor guy back where you found him, oh I can’t wait to tell Wedge...”

Damian held up the strange alien creature Superboy had given him, “His name is Horatio, and he’s mine.”

Horatio yawned, revealing its second mouth, and Bruce paled; he would need to have a talk with Superman about age- and species-appropriate pets.

Van Helsing (TV 2016), Phil & Julius, Cardboard Box

On day three of Ironic Roommate Hell as he had taken to thinking of it, the door to the apartment rattled open, and Phil found himself automatically declaring, "No, no, and an extra fuck no for good measure, so don't even try it," before his brain could consciously process what he was seeing, because Julius had just come back from his shift at the bar a lot less emptyhanded than he had been when he left, which shouldn't have been a problem, except that, instead of bringing takeout or booze, the ex-vampire-warlord was carrying a cardboard file box with all too obvious air holes cut in it and scratching noises coming from inside like something small but persistent was trying to claw its way out.

Julius froze, still only halfway through the doorway, his hopeful smile already fading away as he flicked a familiar assessing gaze across Phil, and while there was no hostility in the look, probably just trying to gage how fast Phil would escalate to full shouting if Julius tried to argue with him, at the same time it was so reminiscent of how, back in Seattle just a few short months ago, he used to catalog a victim's every physical weakness with a single glance before brutally and bloodily acting on those weaknesses one by one, sometimes inviting Phil to help, that it made the hair on the back of Phil's neck stand up and his gorge begin to rise, but then, just as quickly, Julius broke the spell by dropping his gaze down to the box in his hands, sliding one finger in through an air hole to stroke whatever was inside while letting his shoulders slump in defeat and saying, "No, you're right, of course not," before turning and disappearing out the door once more without another look, faint mutters of, "C'mon, little buddy, we'll go find Callie, and I bet she'll be happy to get a new friend as adorable as you," trailing in his wake.

Phil couldn't savor his easy victory, though, because he was suddenly too busy being swamped by memories of the nearly identical look of disappointment his daughter had sported when he had more politely but just as firmly told her that she could not keep the puppy she'd found just a few weeks before the Rising, and not even the pain of punching the wall could distract him.

Forever, Henry & Abe

Abe was used to retrieving Henry from the river and hastily bundling him into a blanket and into the car, but this time even he was taken aback. Henry was holding a rather surprised looking seal, which he was stroking gently. It was bad enough ending up with a car smelling of Hudson River, but Abe drew the line at adding warm damp seal odour to the mix.

Lost in Translation - Voltron: Legendary Defender - Lance, Pidge

"Aw, but it's adorable!" Lance cooed at the six-inch tall furry alien currently cupped in his hands. "Aren't you? You're just the cutest-wootest..."

The alien responded with something high-pitched and garbled.

"Congratulations," Pidge said dryly. "According to the translator, you just insulted their prime minister and he's challenged you to a fight to the death."

Lance blanched. "Aw. Crap."

Tsunade drags her hand tiredly down her face and sighs. "No, you will put it back where it came from, or so help me."

"But," Orochimaru says, voice smooth and cajoling and almost pleading, "look at him! When I found him he was all alone, and he bites!"

Tsunade looks dubiously at the grumpy toddler with silver hair being held up like a misbehaving puppy by her teammate and answers, "That doesn't make it any better, you know. Plus, I'm pretty sure that's Sakumo's cub--you can't keep it."

Orochimaru's golden eyes fucking sparkle, and Tsunade thinks she's made a mistake.

Oh my goodness that is fantastic. X3 I love Oro's arguments (and he bites!) and Tsuna's reactions - entirely the wrong thing to say, Tsuna; now he knows how to properly keep the adorable tiny predator! 🖤 I love it!
