Three Sentence Ficathon -- Part 2
EDIT AS OF 2 FEBRUARY 2019 -- THE 3 SENTENCE FICATHON IS OVER! Go ahead and read and fill anything that catches your eye and comment on fills but I'm not checking it anymore and most people have moved on so any new prompts aren't likely to get much love.
We are nearing the point that the first 3SF post, which went live on 12 December, is nearing 4,600 comments. At 5,000 comments, Dreamwidth starts demanding captcha to assure you aren't a spammer bot. It's a pain and unpleasant but totally understandable. So, I'm opening a new post, for new prompts, new fills, new comments!
What does this mean?
The original 3SF post is here, so be sure to check it out, fill anything that catches your eye, and comment on anything that delights you. But don't post any new prompts there. All new prompts go here.
How long will we do this?
I will officially close the 3SF on January 31.
Does that mean you'll close this and no one can post?
Nope. It just means that we will all move on in our lives until next year and my inbox will get a vacation to Hawaii.
Remind me again, what's the 3SF?
This is a challenge where you answer a prompt with a fic consisting of only three sentences. It's open to all fandoms and you can post and answer as many prompts as you like, as many times as you want.
What's a prompt? How do I do that?
You can start 3SF by posting prompts! When posting a prompt please format it this way:
Only one prompt per comment please. So, for example,
Open ended and anthropomorphic fills are popular too, such as:
What else?
You answer other posters' prompts in three sentences (or more if you can't stop yourself) and fill as many prompts as you want, as many times as you wish. If you see that a prompt you loved has already been filled, go ahead and fill it again! Multiple fills of the same prompt are allowed and even encouraged! (We get really fun stories going this way).
Can I still post if I need more than 3 sentences? Or should I just abuse grammar in ways the English language never contemplated?
Yes. Yes.
But I'm not a member of Dreamwidth
No problem. You can comment anonymously or through open ID
Can anyone play?
Yes! Please signal boost this to your flist, followers, and any other places you frequent. Come one, come all!
The more people who come and play, the better!
Can I spread the word?
Yes, please. Banners and icons are below.
How long will it go?
We'll officially close on January 31, 2019 but I don't close the entry to comments.
Are there any rules about cross-posting?
Nope, you can post wherever you want, whenever you want. A lot of folks collected their responses together and posted them on AO3 under the 3 sentence fiction tag. 3SFs are a terrific prompt for remixes and could be helpful for Yuletide bears, too.
What about spoilers, content warnings, triggers, pairings, ratings, tags, and squick?
So far, as near as I can tell (and I skim most entries especially from newcomers I don't recognize) we've not had any issues. As in the past, this is too big, moves too fast, and the stories are too short for content warnings and ratings. You should assume spoilers are fair game and that the initial poster and responder have opted to use no content warnings or tags. I've found personally that I can skim by stuff that, from the prompt, I can tell isn't my favorite flavor of delicious cake. As a reader, use your best judgment and be prepared to skip over things that aren't your thing.
I have noticed that some people have posted content warnings in the first lines of their fill or in the subject line. But still, it's readers beware here. Not everyone does this and no one is under any obligation to do so.
Wow, there are so many cool people here. Can I introduce myself?
Yes, in the Friending meme.

And can you believe I figure out how to make boxes so you can copy and paste this to plug the exchange elsewhere? I DID!

Last Battle AU, possibly Rthverse (forget 3 sentences...)
1. Eustace and Jill
After the thrill of the rings, the terror of other Narnia's death, and the shock of the wreck, Eustace is content -- for just a little while -- to wander about the peace of Aslan's Country with Pole and find Puddleglum and introduce her to Caspian and Reep, though meeting Lord Octesian is very awkward. His mind is already made up -- he knows he wants to go back to living, even if it's "shadow England" (whatever that means) because what's the point of making scientific discoveries about Clade Dinosauria when you're dead (and how can they even be discoveries?) and he's not ready to abandon the laws of physics (swim up a waterfall? what?) and the scientific method just yet.
But all that depends on Pole, too, and he's not quite brave enough to kiss her but is relieved all the same when she winds a finger around her curly, black hair and nods.
"I want to spend time with my mum and papa when we're not fighting a war and I'm going to Jamiaca to be in my cousin's wedding and learn to make pasta, and besides, Scrubb, no good came of it before when we were separated and you were in Aslan's Country before I got there and we're not doing that, again."
Re: Last Battle AU, possibly Rthverse (forget 3 sentences...)
And yes, Scrubb and Pole still have plans, things they want to accomplish. Definitely should get their second chance and all. I suppose they are optimistic enough that the war will end soon and hopefully it will be the Allies' victory.
Re: Last Battle AU, possibly Rthverse (forget 3 sentences...)
1! As in there will be more? *rubs hands together gleefully*
Octesian - oh, gods. Awkward, for sure.
But Scrubb and Pole, together as always. Back to back, under cover. ♥
Re: Last Battle AU, possibly Rthverse (forget 3 sentences...)
I do hope that 1 part means there's more, cause I'm greedy like that. But how can I not be, this is wonderful! I have to admit, I always just assumed that Jill and Eustace died too, but you know, I have to admit I really like the idea that they survived and they're going to go home because it's just so sad to think that their parents just got left behind and the only person who might know the truth is Susan and oh god what would she even say? Also, I love that he's "not read to abandon the laws of physics". That's literally one of the funniest things I've ever read.
Also, I ship it, so this is adorable. Thanks for the fill!
Re: Last Battle AU, possibly Rthverse (forget 3 sentences...)
Dalia slid away, obviously profoundly downcast and Peter found he was brushing away tears. Someday, my dearest, but not today.
Lucy sidled up to him and slipped her hand in his. “Lambert is still waiting,” she said, nodding in the direction of the garden where the great Wolf had been patiently sitting. “You will speak to him about Susan.”
It was not a question and Peter imagined Aslan’s growl of displeasure at his behavior of earlier reinforcing Lucy’s near order. “Yes, I will. I owe it to both of them.”
Peter broke from the group and slowly walked across the green to where the regal Wolf sat quietly observing. Peter could not tell if Susan's long-time Guard was perturbed for Lambert had learned to mimic his Gentle Queen’s manner and seeming serenity -- as in life and now in death, Lambert was as implacably composed as Susan herself would be.
“Lambert,” Peter began.
Lambert stood and bowed his head. “High King, welcome to Aslan’s Country.”
“Thank you, Lambert. I am sorry for your sake that Susan is not here herself. She misses you very much.” Peter thought of the carving Guy Hill had made for her; Mr. Hill had been murdered before he could give it to her. “A friend made a token for her of your likeness. Susan carries it with her wherever she goes.”
Lambert’s tail wagged. “I had hoped you would tell me why my Queen was not with you all when you died? Were you separated in the calamity?”
“No, Lambert. I am ashamed to say that Susan was not with us due to my own fault. We had a terrible argument right before we died. I…” Peter stammered, deeply ashamed. “I did not trust in Aslan’s power; Susan did, and she was right.”
The wagging stilled. Lambert looked at him carefully, nose flaring and an ear twitched briefly and then settled; Lambert would reveal his unease no more than Susan would. “Why are you telling me this, High King?”
“Because it is practice for what I shall tell Susan when I return. That I am deeply sorry and ashamed to have doubted her. She has heard and heeded Aslan’s command, far better than I, and is doing great and important things in our world, Lambert. You would be proud of her.”
The pause was so long to become uncomfortable. Finally, Lambert said quietly and solemnly, “Are you proud of her, High King?”
Peter thought of all the times he had simply taken for granted all the things Susan had accomplished and how he had never noticed what she did enough to even praise it.
“I am, Lambert.”
“And you will tell her that?”
“I will.”
Lambert inclined his head. “Thank you. Please tell my Queen that I will wait for her and that we shall see each other again when her great work is done.”
