caramelsilver ran one last year on Livejournal and I did two over here a few years ago. We'll keep it open until January 31, 2019 which should give everyone time to play a little. This is a delightful part of the online fandom community.

What is the 3 Sentence Ficathon?
This is a challenge where you answer a prompt with a fic consisting of only three sentences. It's open to all fandoms and you can post and answer as many prompts as you like, as many times as you want.

What do I do first?
You post prompts! When posting a prompt please format it this way:

fandom, character(s), prompt word/sentence.

Only one prompt per comment please. So, for example,

Star Wars, Obi-Wan Kenobi, I don't like sand."

What else?
You answer other posters' prompts in three sentences (or more if you can't stop yourself) and fill as many prompts as you want, as many times as you wish. If you see that a prompt you loved has already been filled, go ahead and fill it again! Multiple fills of the same prompt are allowed and even encouraged! (We get really fun stories going this way).

Can I still post if I need more than 3 sentences? Or should I just abuse grammar in ways the English language never contemplated?

Yes, please. I'd love to create a nifty banner with an embed code but I fail at it. So if you create one, I'll post it and everyone can use it.

How long will it go?
Tentatively, we'll close it on January 31, 2019.

Are there any rules about cross-posting?
Nope, you can post wherever you want, whenever you want. A lot of folks collected their responses together and posted them on AO3 under the 3 sentence fiction tag. 3SFs are a terrific prompt for remixes and could be helpful for Yuletide bears, too.

What about spoilers, content warnings, triggers, pairings, ratings, tags, and squick?
I thought about this. It wasn't an issue the last 2 times I ran this but times change. In my experience, this typically gets too big, moves too fast, and the stories are too short for content warnings and ratings. You should assume spoilers are fair game and that the initial poster and responder have opted to use no content warnings or tags. I've found personally that I can skim by stuff that, from the prompt, I can tell isn't my favorite flavor of delicious cake. Use your best judgment and be prepared to skip over things that aren't your thing.

I giggled. Nice!

Ohh, no, Stiles thought, and dove, throwing the book he held as a distraction - bless one of the few sensible people in his school; the other boy bolted as soon as the wolf's attention shifted - and shoving his free hand into his backpack in search of the mountain ash.

"Oh no," Stiles said, shaking his head and backing up as quickly as he could, meeting bright eyes as the wolf turned towards him, "I am not on the menu either, I am not on the menu-" his screech cut off breathlessly as he hit the ground and he flinched-

"Ew." Stiles said, slightly stunned, as a wolfy tongue dragged industriously over his face. "Oh man, dude, Derek, not that this isn't better than being eaten but this is going to be so embarrassing for both of us - mostly me - when you remember, like, higher brain functions."

Kei slipped away again even as he heard Sho's high, stubborn voice cut in across his brother's, face twisting. No; monster he may be, and he wouldn't deny Shinji's claim, but . . . not the children, not Sho, he would never.

Grukk was not an exemplary orc: he followed orders only when disobedience was followed by the whip, and he was not as ravenously bloodthirsty and violent as most of his compatriots, which made the Uruk-Hai distrust him even more than they otherwise would, and this made Grukk even more reluctant to follow orders — why bother, if he would be punished anyway? — which in turn made the Uruk-Hai more likely to eat him than not, which was not a particularly good motivator.

When the halflings were taken, Grukk grew almost cheerful; when their meat was banned and a fellow orc slain, Grukk made the most startlingly un-orcish decision of his life and escaped into the forest of Fangorn, fully expecting to be cut down by one of the angry tree spirits (who at least would not digest him).

But Grukk dropped his ax and knife as he ran (and if he dropped them within reach of the bound halflings, what was that to him?) and, curiously, was hindered by neither root nor limb as he ran into the darkness.

Love this! Really cute - good for Grukk!

Ed doesn’t touch Turkish Delight anymore.

He can barely even look at the stuff or all the memories he usually keeps on lockdown rush back, or else the sweets all whisper traitor.

Before, he wouldn’t have said it had a smell, or even thought about it much, but now he knows: it is sharp and wintery and makes him shiver, but for all that, somehow enticing.

Ahhh, wonderful. THanks so much for using the prompt for this fill. Love it VERY much.
