caramelsilver ran one last year on Livejournal and I did two over here a few years ago. We'll keep it open until January 31, 2019 which should give everyone time to play a little. This is a delightful part of the online fandom community.

What is the 3 Sentence Ficathon?
This is a challenge where you answer a prompt with a fic consisting of only three sentences. It's open to all fandoms and you can post and answer as many prompts as you like, as many times as you want.

What do I do first?
You post prompts! When posting a prompt please format it this way:

fandom, character(s), prompt word/sentence.

Only one prompt per comment please. So, for example,

Star Wars, Obi-Wan Kenobi, I don't like sand."

What else?
You answer other posters' prompts in three sentences (or more if you can't stop yourself) and fill as many prompts as you want, as many times as you wish. If you see that a prompt you loved has already been filled, go ahead and fill it again! Multiple fills of the same prompt are allowed and even encouraged! (We get really fun stories going this way).

Can I still post if I need more than 3 sentences? Or should I just abuse grammar in ways the English language never contemplated?

Tentatively, we'll close it on January 31, 2019.

Are there any rules about cross-posting?
Nope, you can post wherever you want, whenever you want. A lot of folks collected their responses together and posted them on AO3 under the 3 sentence fiction tag. 3SFs are a terrific prompt for remixes and could be helpful for Yuletide bears, too.

What about spoilers, content warnings, triggers, pairings, ratings, tags, and squick?
I thought about this. It wasn't an issue the last 2 times I ran this but times change. In my experience, this typically gets too big, moves too fast, and the stories are too short for content warnings and ratings. You should assume spoilers are fair game and that the initial poster and responder have opted to use no content warnings or tags. I've found personally that I can skim by stuff that, from the prompt, I can tell isn't my favorite flavor of delicious cake. Use your best judgment and be prepared to skip over things that aren't your thing.

Any fandom, any characters, trust fall

"I still say I get the short end of the stick. I'm too small to catch anyone, and there's barely any time to catch me before I hit the ground!"

"Ah, but that's where the trust comes in," Molly says, clapping a hand on Nott's head.

"Trust . . . falls?" Allura cocked her head. "What manner of team exercise is this, then?"

Keith groaned, and Shiro smothered a laugh and gently nudged his shoulder as Hunk enthusiastically explained the concept to the puzzled Alteans. "Oh, come on, it won't be so bad, right?" Shiro asked, to no response beyond a flat glare from Keith.

There are unhappy mutterings from around the room, which, Derek figures, is precisely why Stiles chose this exercise for them to do. Derek's not sure how this is supposed to work, not with their combined history and the general feeling that no one in the room is trustworthy.

Then, of all people, Peter's the first one who squares his shoulders, looks over one of them at Derek and falls backward.

"You've got to be kidding me. I'll crush you." Alaric towers over Mac by at least a foot, and while she's muscular, he's a football player. There's no way this'll work.

She puts her hands on his shoulders, spins him so his back is to her. "Just do it," she says, and that's her instructor voice, the one that expects him to ask how high when she says jump.

He grumbles out, "Yes, ma'am," just as Pawel yells for them to fall.

His heart stops in the moment between when he tilts backwards and when she catches him, bending at the knees to lower him slowly to the ground rather than take his full weight. He lies there on the mats looking up, her black belt almost touching his face as she crouches over him.

She pats his shoulder, says quietly, "I've got you, Ric." And he figures yeah, maybe she does.

Don’t worry, she tells them, stepping backwards, feeling the wind whip around her; there’s nothing at her back, nothing beneath her but the city streets so very far below, nothing ahead but the promise of death. She leans back – in her hands, the staff, and in her mind, the glyph, the ocean-scent, the prayer; it will be the ocean that catches her, or nothing at all.

I trust you, she thinks, and falls.

“Do you trust that I’ll fall with you, Angel?”

“We both know that all you do is saunter.”

“Maybe so, but I can adjust my trajectory so I’ll be there when you need me to catch you.”

This is an adorable take on this prompt. I love it. :D

Thank you so much! I'll never resist a chance to interpret a prompt a little differently than intended.

This is what goes through Sheena’s mind when she’s falling to her death in the Tower of Salvation: last time she tried to exchange her life for her friends escaping safe and sound, Lloyd shouted at her to stop, and Zelos grabbed her and forced her into the portal - he grabbed her, but she could have fought him off, and she didn’t; she let him pull her through the Otherworldly Gate and save her life; for all that he gets on her nerves, she’s always trusted him (i always thought you were a good person when it came down to it!).

Turns out they were both better at lying than she’d thought: she promised Lloyd she’d make it out okay and he believed her, and Zelos tricked all of them into thinking he was on their side. She fooled herself into falling for it (him, the thought rushes past her like the air around her ears, too fast for her to catch and rip) and now, there’s nothing to it - she’s falling too hard to save herself and there’s no-one to break her fall the way he broke her trust.

Holy shit this sentence, I love it. Love the play on words how it bring forward parallelism.
