Three Sentence Ficathon

UPDATE! EDIT!
We're running into the Dreamwidth comment limits so all new prompts should be posted here Keep responding to and filling already posted prompts here, but all new ones should go to the new thread!

Someone did this banner for me a couple of years ago.  It's great, isn't it?  If it was you, please step up and take a bow!
It was
[personal profile] st_aurafina!   Thank you again!

caramelsilver ran one last year on Livejournal and I did two over here a few years ago. We'll keep it open until January 31, 2019 which should give everyone time to play a little. This is a delightful part of the online fandom community.

What is the 3 Sentence Ficathon?
This is a challenge where you answer a prompt with a fic consisting of only three sentences. It's open to all fandoms and you can post and answer as many prompts as you like, as many times as you want.

What do I do first?
You post prompts! When posting a prompt please format it this way:

fandom, character(s), prompt word/sentence.

Only one prompt per comment please.  So, for example,

Star Wars, Obi-Wan Kenobi, I don't like sand."

What else?

You answer other posters' prompts in three sentences (or more if you can't stop yourself) and fill as many prompts as you want, as many times as you wish. If you see that a prompt you loved has already been filled, go ahead and fill it again! Multiple fills of the same prompt are allowed and even encouraged!  (We get really fun stories going this way).

Can I still post if I need more than 3 sentences?  Or should I just abuse grammar in ways the English language never contemplated?
Yes.  Yes.

But I'm not a member of Dreamwidth
No problem. You can comment anonymously or through open ID

Can anyone play?
Yes! Please signal boost this to your flist, followers, and any other places you frequent. Come one, come all!
The more people who come and play, the better!

Can I spread the word?
Yes, please.  I'd love to create a nifty banner with an embed code but I fail at it.  So if you create one, I'll post it and everyone can use it.

How long will it go?
Tentatively, we'll close it on January 31, 2019.

Are there any rules about cross-posting?

Nope, you can post wherever you want, whenever you want. A lot of folks collected their responses together and posted them on AO3 under the 3 sentence fiction tag. 3SFs are a terrific prompt for remixes and could be helpful for Yuletide bears, too.

What about spoilers, content warnings, triggers, pairings, ratings, tags, and squick?
I thought about this.  It wasn't an issue the last 2 times I ran this but times change.  In my experience, this typically gets too big, moves too fast, and the stories are too short for content warnings and ratings. You should assume spoilers are fair game and that the initial poster and responder have opted to use no content warnings or tags. I've found personally that I can skim by stuff that, from the prompt, I can tell isn't my favorite flavor of delicious cake. Use your best judgment and be prepared to skip over things that aren't your thing.

And here, have some icons!

I'll start things off...

Greek mythology, she comes in colors everywhere

Without a doubt Helen of Sparta is the most beautiful woman in the world, but no man can swear to have seen her with his own eyes, even here in the plains of Troy, where they live and fight and die for her sake. And so in their mind's eyes, they give her the features of the loves they left behind, assign her color and complexion they find most striking, make her base and brazen to suit their fantasies--for what does that matter, when she is as above their reach as the rainbows above?
"A pity," Cassandra muses from the walls, and her sister-in-law, small and drab and heartily tired of being blamed for a war she did not cause, agrees sadly.

I love Helen as an idea/ideal vs a real person - such is the nature of stories, and how exhausting to be a symbol to everyone, and an individual to so few.

I wasn't overly enamored by the Netflix Troy series for ah, obvious reasons (I shook my head in disbelief when Paris of all people, defeats Hektor in the first episode), but I loved the casting -- especially the fact that their Helen, IMO, pretty but not spectacularly lovely and you got the impression her beauty had been exaggerated for the Achaeans' own purposes.

"Wow," Tina breathed, watching The Beast sniff and taste her way around the Bergsberg Sheriff's Department headquarters, "she's a rainbow."

"Yeah, she's great," Amanda, who was used to the multicolored Wendimoor escapee's antics and was instead getting her entertainment from watching Tina's reactions, said fondly.

Just then, The Beast found the plate of Fruity Pebbles marshmallow treats which Hobbes had left on Tina's desk, licked one, and held the whole plate above her head with a triumphant shout of, "Munchies!!!," causing Tina and Amanda to look at each other and announce in perfect unison, "And I like how she thinks."

[Avatar: the Last Airbender]

Rainbows are - were - are? - special to the Air Nomads; very few things are a direct result of so many elements, air for the habitat and water for the rain and fire for the sunlight. You have to go through the storm to see them, and usually they mean the storm is ending, but sometimes it doesn't - sometimes they stay there for hours as the sun and rain stay in just the right positions to make the colors.

People can be like that, too, showing up as a bright spot of positivity after a hard time, sometimes a signal that things are getting better and sometimes just a person who makes the hard times a little easier to bear; Katara is his rainbow, and Aang is unspeakably grateful that she's the second kind.

(I don't even ship Kataang wtf)

She has the presence of royalty in purple, a compassionate and commanding queen—even commonsensical, absurd as that may sound to anyone who isn't intimately familiar (as he is) with her crazy awesome. Cerulean and midnight (she is his sun and stars) and sapphire (priceless as such jewels are, he prefers looking into her eyes) can only enhance her beauty. They were green kids together (green is his color, where black is theirs) but they have outgrown that, grown together as oak and linden, and he cannot help but follow her as a sunflower the sun; he would shower her with gold if she had the slightest wish for it. She has transformed and illuminated him (it's kind of hilarious, actually, that of the pair of them he is the one who doesn't need an explanation of the symbolism of orange in Confucianism and Buddhism), and (she claims) he her, which latter he still only half believes.

He loves her best as he saw her first: courageous and passionate in red.
