caramelsilver ran one last year on Livejournal and I did two over here a few years ago. We'll keep it open until January 31, 2019 which should give everyone time to play a little. This is a delightful part of the online fandom community.

What is the 3 Sentence Ficathon?
This is a challenge where you answer a prompt with a fic consisting of only three sentences. It's open to all fandoms and you can post and answer as many prompts as you like, as many times as you want.

What do I do first?
You post prompts! When posting a prompt please format it this way:

fandom, character(s), prompt word/sentence.

Only one prompt per comment please. So, for example,

Star Wars, Obi-Wan Kenobi, I don't like sand."

What else?
You answer other posters' prompts in three sentences (or more if you can't stop yourself) and fill as many prompts as you want, as many times as you wish. If you see that a prompt you loved has already been filled, go ahead and fill it again! Multiple fills of the same prompt are allowed and even encouraged! (We get really fun stories going this way).

Can I still post if I need more than 3 sentences? Or should I just abuse grammar in ways the English language never contemplated?

Yes, please. I'd love to create a nifty banner with an embed code but I fail at it. So if you create one, I'll post it and everyone can use it.

How long will it go?
Tentatively, we'll close it on January 31, 2019.

Are there any rules about cross-posting?
Nope, you can post wherever you want, whenever you want. A lot of folks collected their responses together and posted them on AO3 under the 3 sentence fiction tag. 3SFs are a terrific prompt for remixes and could be helpful for Yuletide bears, too.

What about spoilers, content warnings, triggers, pairings, ratings, tags, and squick?
I thought about this. It wasn't an issue the last 2 times I ran this but times change. In my experience, this typically gets too big, moves too fast, and the stories are too short for content warnings and ratings. You should assume spoilers are fair game and that the initial poster and responder have opted to use no content warnings or tags. I've found personally that I can skim by stuff that, from the prompt, I can tell isn't my favorite flavor of delicious cake. Use your best judgment and be prepared to skip over things that aren't your thing.

Any fandom, any character, searching for a trail to follow again (lyrics from Lord Huron’s “The Night We Met”)

Tanigaki had left his home on the trail of his sister's murderer, but by the time he'd found Aoyama again, he'd lost that sense of purpose. He was weak against Tsurumi's blandishments and stayed on when he should have left. It took nearly dying -- once, twice, three times, for him to find a place that could be home, with people who could be his family.

He would do anything to protect them -- save them like he hadn't been able to save Fumi.

"Have you found anything yet?" Peter asked, taking a knee to get closer to the Dogs that had been roving all about their small company to sniff out any sign of their missing Queen - their missing sister.

A chorus of sorrowful denials answered him, and Peter winced, though he assured them it was all right even as he immediately sent them back out to the search.

"You know Sue can look after herself," Edmund pointed out, shading his eyes and giving Rupert a pat, "she'll probably only be angry with us for interrupting her plan if we find her too soon. Ah!" he gasped, ignoring his brother's irritated growl and throwing a hand up for one of his Crows as she dove.

Excellent! I love the use of the Native Narnians skills and Edmund"s crows!! And he is absolutely right - Peter is the worry wart and Susan will be found when she's ready. Thank you!!

Thank you! 🖤 I love the possibilities of the breadth of Narnian subjects. . . And I imagined Susan getting 'kidnapped' by a political rival but actually having intended to wind up there for, yes, a plan, honestly Peter calm down. ;P

YES, that sounds exactly like my favorite interpretations of Susan — and her brothers, and hounds and Crows!

Tuonela has no trails, only rock islands and water and a foxfire-and-star sky that stretches endlessly overhead, and Tuuri despairs of ever finding the trail home. Not even scouts, like Lalli or Grandma, could do that, and of course Lalli is alive, so he's no help, and Grandma, even being a mage, is probably asleep as she ought to be, and as Tuuri ought to be if she hadn't dreamt so hard of being awake and alive and free again that she woke herself up.

She fears even her sielulintu wings will get tired before she finds the Birds' Path, if the Swan that is approaching out of the dark doesn't get her first to put her back into her bed under the ice - but no, Tuuri realizes, seeing the shining pinions approach - it's not Tuonela's guardian - it's another sielulintu that swoops beneath her, cushions her smaller form in its spirit feathers and takes off toward the endless sky, past the foxfires swirling green around them, where the myriad of stars turn into birds all across the firmament, and grandma's voice says, "There's your way home."

Kakashi cursed and tugged down his mask, crouching and taking a deep breath even as he searched the branches for any sign of passage - of traces of struggle; his brats wouldn't have gone quietly.

They never did even for him, he thought wryly, wishing he could be amused or even irritated with them rather than consumed with fear that the nukenin who had taken them would-

His breath caught as a familiar scent finally reached his nose - silk-steel-blood, dust and salt and flowers, fright-anger-sweat - and Kakashi bared his teeth in a determined growl, following the faint traces at a dead run.

Chise is gone and he will never rest until she is by his side again.

He will walk this earth if need be, will rampage through the Fae hills, and tear down every wall, brick by brick, if he must until she comes back.

Because she must come back; if she doesn't, then he will truly be lost.
