caramelsilver ran one last year on Livejournal and I did two over here a few years ago. We'll keep it open until January 31, 2019 which should give everyone time to play a little. This is a delightful part of the online fandom community.


What is the 3 Sentence Ficathon?
This is a challenge where you answer a prompt with a fic consisting of only three sentences. It's open to all fandoms and you can post and answer as many prompts as you like, as many times as you want.

What do I do first?
You post prompts! When posting a prompt please format it this way:

fandom, character(s), prompt word/sentence.

Only one prompt per comment please.  So, for example,

Star Wars, Obi-Wan Kenobi, I don't like sand."

What else?
You answer other posters' prompts in three sentences (or more if you can't stop yourself) and fill as many prompts as you want, as many times as you wish. If you see that a prompt you loved has already been filled, go ahead and fill it again! Multiple fills of the same prompt are allowed and even encouraged!  (We get really fun stories going this way).

Can I still post if I need more than 3 sentences?  Or should I just abuse grammar in ways the English language never contemplated?

Yes, please.  I'd love to create a nifty banner with an embed code but I fail at it.  So if you create one, I'll post it and everyone can use it.

How long will it go?
Tentatively, we'll close it on January 31, 2019. 

Are there any rules about cross-posting?
Nope, you can post wherever you want, whenever you want. A lot of folks collected their responses together and posted them on AO3 under the 3 sentence fiction tag. 3SFs are a terrific prompt for remixes and could be helpful for Yuletide bears, too.

What about spoilers, content warnings, triggers, pairings, ratings, tags, and squick?
I thought about this.  It wasn't an issue the last 2 times I ran this but times change.  In my experience, this typically gets too big, moves too fast, and the stories are too short for content warnings and ratings. You should assume spoilers are fair game and that the initial poster and responder have opted to use no content warnings or tags. I've found personally that I can skim by stuff that, from the prompt, I can tell isn't my favorite flavor of delicious cake. Use your best judgment and be prepared to skip over things that aren't your thing.

Sakumo smothered a laugh at the dark grumblings barely audible from beneath the heavy winter kakebuton. Apparently not well enough, as the mutterings faded into an angry hiss - though it was rather lacking in ferocity - the slender figure curling up tighter and Orochimaru's angular cheek settling on his chest, cool fingers splaying over his belly. Snuggling for warmth, though he would, no doubt, never admit to doing such a thing; Sakumo wondered, if Orochimaru was still with him in the spring . . . would he curl up in the sun to bask, like one of his own summons?

Eeeee, I love them!!! As you can probably tell from my username and multiple siren prompts, they are my favorite mythological creatures as well. And your fills are inspired — the sirencall of knowledge, the idea that sailors soon figured out the lure, the talons...! And devotion — gloriously accurate, as I sit here responding on my phone :-D. Thank you for these!!

Yessss. I love (and hate!) how he still can't understand her - it's like her curse endures even after she's dead. But that they are his most secret dreams and he remembers her as lovely and delicate - despite her amusement - that I just love!

*g* The first thing I thought of when I saw your prompt is how slavishly devoted I to my smartphone, so it really was quite perfect!

Oh, I like her thoughts here on the other gods, and how much easier they are to escape! Apollo needed to be doused with a bucket of seawater and zapped by a lightning bolt.

I mean, in fairness, the other gods - except maybe Hades- are probably just as terrible with regards to consent, but Apollo seems to be the only one to hold a grudge (and what a grudge :( !

"I'm not staying here to 'relax' without you," Bucky huffed, "so let's get this shitshow on the road again. Sooner we go sooner everything can blow up and maybe we can get back to this vacation gig."

Steve caught Bucky's arm as he rose and pulled him in close for a hug, so grateful to still have Bucky, and still have him willing to follow - to help - as Steve did all those dumb hero things Bucky always bitched about.

I've missed them! (I did not, because I loathe Phillipa Gregory and all her works, but I did see many many pretty gifsets on tumblr, and thought Anne and Richard were very well cast. And that way the story could go however I wanted and I didn't have to imagine whatever absurdity came in at the end!)

The light in the Force that had been gone the last time they shared a room has returned, and Ahsoka is too glad for that gift from the Force to be either angry at Anakin or sad that she cannot give him a hug like she so desperately wants to.

Shiro lies awake and watches Keith sleep, thinking of the day's events and how easily Keith had commanded everyone's attention; they knew what Shiro had known long ago, and that is that Keith is an incredibly easy person to love and want in your life.

Shiro knows that it is utter selfishness to hold on to someone who could easily be loved by anyone in the entire galaxy, many of whom would be the kind of amazing that Keith deserves.

But that level of selfishness is not a personality flaw that Keith plans on fixing anytime soon.
