caramelsilver ran one last year on Livejournal and I did two over here a few years ago. We'll keep it open until January 31, 2019 which should give everyone time to play a little. This is a delightful part of the online fandom community.


What is the 3 Sentence Ficathon?
This is a challenge where you answer a prompt with a fic consisting of only three sentences. It's open to all fandoms and you can post and answer as many prompts as you like, as many times as you want.

What do I do first?
You post prompts! When posting a prompt please format it this way:

fandom, character(s), prompt word/sentence.

Only one prompt per comment please.  So, for example,

Star Wars, Obi-Wan Kenobi, I don't like sand."

What else?
You answer other posters' prompts in three sentences (or more if you can't stop yourself) and fill as many prompts as you want, as many times as you wish. If you see that a prompt you loved has already been filled, go ahead and fill it again! Multiple fills of the same prompt are allowed and even encouraged!  (We get really fun stories going this way).

Can I still post if I need more than 3 sentences?  Or should I just abuse grammar in ways the English language never contemplated?

Yes, please.  I'd love to create a nifty banner with an embed code but I fail at it.  So if you create one, I'll post it and everyone can use it.

How long will it go?
Tentatively, we'll close it on January 31, 2019. 

Are there any rules about cross-posting?
Nope, you can post wherever you want, whenever you want. A lot of folks collected their responses together and posted them on AO3 under the 3 sentence fiction tag. 3SFs are a terrific prompt for remixes and could be helpful for Yuletide bears, too.

What about spoilers, content warnings, triggers, pairings, ratings, tags, and squick?
I thought about this.  It wasn't an issue the last 2 times I ran this but times change.  In my experience, this typically gets too big, moves too fast, and the stories are too short for content warnings and ratings. You should assume spoilers are fair game and that the initial poster and responder have opted to use no content warnings or tags. I've found personally that I can skim by stuff that, from the prompt, I can tell isn't my favorite flavor of delicious cake. Use your best judgment and be prepared to skip over things that aren't your thing.

There's a smirk on Leonard's face as if he'd just pulled off a heist right under the Flash's nose and his gaze travels up and down Barry's form with an intensity like he's won more than just a get-out-of-jail-free card, the blatant suggestiveness driving a rush of heat to Barry's face. "What do you say, Scarlet... double or nothing?"

No one was more surprised than Bayley when her 15 month old daughter’s first words were Too Sweet; she expected something far more normal like Mama or Dada or even cookie.

Instead, she got Too Sweet, a fact which baffled her to no end.

Then, one night, she stumbled upon Finn’s bedtime routine...showing his tiny girl how to make the hand gesture, gently bring her second and third finger to her thumb and holding her hand in position as his own ‘too sweet’ met hers, the entire time repeating in that soft brogue she loved so much Too Sweet, Too Sweet, Too Sweet…

Afterwards, when it's all over and their phone have remained silent for long enough to realize that there's no more A playing games with their lives, when they can get out of town and start afresh without any secrets hanging over their heads like a Sword of Damocles, Spencer tells her lies with so much conviction that she can't tell them apart from the truth anymore.

The lesson they learned when A used everything they ever tried to hide against them should have been 'no more secrets' – but nothing so reasonable, nothing so healthy could possibly come out of something so twisted.

Instead, the lesson Spencer has learned, the one she lives and breathes now, is 'keep the truth so deeply hidden that no one will ever uncover it', and for that to be true, she too has to believe in the lies.

It's a joke, when Shiro asks; his grey eyes are full of mirth and his hand squeezes Keith's shoulder, as if it hasn't been years since Keith has been in the same room.

Keith smiles back, in a house that Shiro shares with his husband, thinks of all the times he tried to ask Shiro if he remembered how much Keith loves him, and says the only thing he can in order to be truthful: "Not nearly as many as I should."

Ramses slunk against the elaborately-carved wall, quietly hoping he wouldn't damage any of the millennia-old artistry even as he pressed deeper into the shadows to conceal himself, bloody hand stinging with the drag over stone.

A throb from deep within the temple made him stiffen, unsteady on his feet, as a prowling, huge, yet not-quite-there shape appeared and swiped at the men who had been chasing him, sending them tumbling backwards and yelping pleas to god as they fled.

A delicate feline sniff of distaste and then great blue-green eyes turned towards him and Ramses stared, hesitantly bowing his head.

You have always been My kitten, grown now or not; none shall harm you in My temple. The great figure- The goddess . . . Bastet gently touched her nose to Ramses' stinging hand - the pain disappeared - gave his shoulder a light nudge, rubbed her cheek possessively against his jaw.

Then she prowled back into the shadows, into the stones, and was gone in an instant.

Catra hasn't gotten a decent night's sleep since Adora left. Her entire life has been spent curled at the foot of Adora's bed, and the position has always been the one part of Catra's life in the Fright Zone that held any comfort - with Adora gone, so too is that comfort.

Not that Catra needs comfort, because she is second in command and has replaced Shadow Weaver herself, but the loud voices that keep her awake make her hope that Adora is also having the worst sleep of her life.

The ring is yellow. "I think you’ve got the wrong guy," Dick tries; smiles and wants to spin it as a joke, but with the cowl on, it comes out strange – heavy, like no acrobat should be, .

"People are scared of Batman," the ring’s metallic voice replies.

He did what he had to do, of course; Harrow's soft heart had jeopardized everything that Viren had worked so hard for, and Viren could not allow that to go on.

But knowing that something is necessary does not make it easy, and the constant sound of Harrow's voice in his head must be the price that Viren is doomed to pay for needing to sacrifice his ... friend.

He only wishes that the Harrow in his mind would not whisper the words "on your knees" quite so often, with such ... insistence.

Nestled comfortably in the wild grass, against the rich earth, Persephone smiled and raised a hand, though she didn't open her eyes. A tiny tingle as little feet landed on her outstretched finger, walking up her hand towards the flowers growing about her wrist and arm, fuzzy body tickling her skin.

The buzz of happy bees filled the spring meadow, blending peacefully with the joyous voices of her anthosai, raised in welcome.

Ugh, one of the things that still gets me most is Adora spending the first night in Glimmsr’s bed because she couldn’t figure out how to sleep alone, and you’ve channeled that emptiness so well.
