caramelsilver ran one last year on Livejournal and I did two over here a few years ago. We'll keep it open until January 31, 2019 which should give everyone time to play a little. This is a delightful part of the online fandom community.


What is the 3 Sentence Ficathon?
This is a challenge where you answer a prompt with a fic consisting of only three sentences. It's open to all fandoms and you can post and answer as many prompts as you like, as many times as you want.

What do I do first?
You post prompts! When posting a prompt please format it this way:

fandom, character(s), prompt word/sentence.

Only one prompt per comment please.  So, for example,

Star Wars, Obi-Wan Kenobi, I don't like sand."

What else?
You answer other posters' prompts in three sentences (or more if you can't stop yourself) and fill as many prompts as you want, as many times as you wish. If you see that a prompt you loved has already been filled, go ahead and fill it again! Multiple fills of the same prompt are allowed and even encouraged!  (We get really fun stories going this way).

Can I still post if I need more than 3 sentences?  Or should I just abuse grammar in ways the English language never contemplated?

Yes, please.  I'd love to create a nifty banner with an embed code but I fail at it.  So if you create one, I'll post it and everyone can use it.

How long will it go?
Tentatively, we'll close it on January 31, 2019. 

Are there any rules about cross-posting?
Nope, you can post wherever you want, whenever you want. A lot of folks collected their responses together and posted them on AO3 under the 3 sentence fiction tag. 3SFs are a terrific prompt for remixes and could be helpful for Yuletide bears, too.

What about spoilers, content warnings, triggers, pairings, ratings, tags, and squick?
I thought about this.  It wasn't an issue the last 2 times I ran this but times change.  In my experience, this typically gets too big, moves too fast, and the stories are too short for content warnings and ratings. You should assume spoilers are fair game and that the initial poster and responder have opted to use no content warnings or tags. I've found personally that I can skim by stuff that, from the prompt, I can tell isn't my favorite flavor of delicious cake. Use your best judgment and be prepared to skip over things that aren't your thing.

They woke up surrounded by a wall of snow, with the carcasses of the deer they had sheltered in, long gone cold -- the storm had moved them several yards away from Shiraishi and Asirpa, but Sugimoto could hear their shouts. "Sugimoto," Ogata said softly, and before he could reply, he was kissed, roughly and unfeelingly, and then pushed back into the snowbank, sputtering with indignation.

By the the time Asirpa and Shiraishi had found the two of them, they were at each other's throats -- as expected.

Arthur moaned, body arching up against Eames' broader form, hitching one thigh higher to wrap over his hip; Eames moaned in his ear, almost a purr, hips rolling deliciously against Arthur and then-

Arthur's eyes snapped open as Eames' hips wriggled and narrowed, then yelped, fighting to squeeze out from beneath Eames' body as it shifted with eye-smarting speed through a dozen different shapes, never quite settling wholly in one before some other part of him began to melt into another.

Arthur shuddered, rolling away but not able to drag his gaze away from the creepy figure now trying to crawl after him, and reached for the gun that had to be in the bedside table.

Arthur pulled away, barely managing not to jerk back forcefully. He flinched as he glanced sideways at Eames from a few paces away - not at the theatrical pout he wore, but at the sweep of Eames' sharp eyes over him.

"Darling, whatever is the matter with you?" Eames asked dryly, cocking his head as he prowled closer, and Arthur struggled not to remember the discomfiting - disgusting - shift of his lover's body reshaping itself against his.

The pair of Sparks turned on him with madness-lit eyes and even more alarming grins, then stilled, glancing over the edges of the machine at the rapidly-approaching trees below, and dove over each other towards the controls, abandoning their tools near the worryingly open engine panels.

"Qiqi was alone. And hungry." Danny tried his best puppy dog eyes. "She needs a home. She needs us."

"Fine. Since you already named her," Luke exhaled. "But the kitten is your responsibility. Is she potty trained? What about shots? Sweet Christmas- "

But the next day when Danny returned to the apartment, Luke and Qiqi were cuddled on the couch watching TV.

"I wanted Qiqi to see Catra." Luke smiled sheepishly before going back to She-Ra Princess of Power.

Danny hid a grin as he joined them on the couch, and the new family watched TV together.

Buffeted as by the rough alpine bora winds rushing down from the northern mountains, the stench of stewing offal assaulted only as he mounted the steps of the Palace; Peter's cry, "It's not my fault!" answered Edmund's first question for the last time Cook had punished them with tripe, it was indeed because Peter, laid up from (another) boating accident had been such an infuriatingly terrible patient, he'd made Cook cry, something that their Porcupine Physician had not thought Minotaurs were capable of.

"Due to the winds, we are currently hosting Malenia, the Humingbird Hen who usually nests in the big hibiscus bush in the garden," Susan explained, with a wrinkle of her nose, "and Cook made the mistake of offering her some boiled syrup to drink."

Even over the howl of the winds, Edmund could hear Malenaia's tinny, bossy screeching obscenity that could bend steel, "Are you trying to kill me you dumb ox!" and decided that if, by mistake, Melania were injured by a stray swipe of Cook's hoof, he would grant extreme leniency in any subsequent sentencing.
