caramelsilver ran one last year on Livejournal and I did two over here a few years ago. We'll keep it open until January 31, 2019 which should give everyone time to play a little. This is a delightful part of the online fandom community.


What is the 3 Sentence Ficathon?
This is a challenge where you answer a prompt with a fic consisting of only three sentences. It's open to all fandoms and you can post and answer as many prompts as you like, as many times as you want.

What do I do first?
You post prompts! When posting a prompt please format it this way:

fandom, character(s), prompt word/sentence.

Only one prompt per comment please.  So, for example,

Star Wars, Obi-Wan Kenobi, I don't like sand."

What else?
You answer other posters' prompts in three sentences (or more if you can't stop yourself) and fill as many prompts as you want, as many times as you wish. If you see that a prompt you loved has already been filled, go ahead and fill it again! Multiple fills of the same prompt are allowed and even encouraged!  (We get really fun stories going this way).

Can I still post if I need more than 3 sentences?  Or should I just abuse grammar in ways the English language never contemplated?

Yes, please.  I'd love to create a nifty banner with an embed code but I fail at it.  So if you create one, I'll post it and everyone can use it.

How long will it go?
Tentatively, we'll close it on January 31, 2019. 

Are there any rules about cross-posting?
Nope, you can post wherever you want, whenever you want. A lot of folks collected their responses together and posted them on AO3 under the 3 sentence fiction tag. 3SFs are a terrific prompt for remixes and could be helpful for Yuletide bears, too.

What about spoilers, content warnings, triggers, pairings, ratings, tags, and squick?
I thought about this.  It wasn't an issue the last 2 times I ran this but times change.  In my experience, this typically gets too big, moves too fast, and the stories are too short for content warnings and ratings. You should assume spoilers are fair game and that the initial poster and responder have opted to use no content warnings or tags. I've found personally that I can skim by stuff that, from the prompt, I can tell isn't my favorite flavor of delicious cake. Use your best judgment and be prepared to skip over things that aren't your thing.

"It does this all the time." Tony's voice is flat, not a question. He stands in the door to the dorm, refusing to venture out, arms crossed tight against the cold.

"It's just a few snowflakes," Ángel says. He tries to nudge, but Tony isn't budging. "I got used to it my first winter here. You won't melt. Or do cats hate snow?"

The glare would be comical if Tony didn't look so damned disgruntled. Ángel can't think how he didn't immediately realize the Mollicones were cats, not Clan. Ángel tugs, and Tony goes with the motion, turning to face him slowly. Ángel frames his face, kisses him slowly. As he runs his hands down Tony's shoulders, magic flickers through his fingertips, sparks warming Tony's skin. Tony grimaces, but relaxes.

"We should go," Ángel murmurs. "We're meeting Hayley, Tanner, and Luca at Teas Please. Maybe sometime this week we'll get a real snowstorm, and I can take you sledding. You'll probably be warmer with fur on."

Tony steps out carefully, wrinkling his nose at the cold. "Come back to Florida," he mutters. "I don't know how most cats feel about snow, but this particular Lince could do without it. It's cold."

By the time Reyna gets there, Piper is empty of tears and a hollow ache has settled in the place where her heart should be; the only emotion she is left with is anger and she has nowhere to place it.

She gets ready for a fight: prepares for the recriminations that are sure to come, the reminders that she is nothing but Aphrodite's daughter, that she should have never even attempted to be a warrior, why did she ever thought she could protect the people she loved (the guy she desperately, painfully adores) when everyone knows that love causes pain and grief and despair.

Piper gets ready, but when Reyna reaches her, there is no anger there, not towards her: instead in her dark eyes there's the same kind of pain that Piper knows is in her own.

“How many times do I have to tell you to read the marginalia, not simply squint at it — and don’t tell me you are reading the ebook version on your phones, my heart couldn’t take it.”

Professor Barnabus looked down at the textbook open on his desk, the rows of neatly scribed letters reproduced on its glossy pages, the faint but elegantly scrawled scribbles in the margins, and the gold-and-crimson dragon winking up at him from its position curled around the capital letter — surely the work of the renowned calligrapher Cyril of Parnassus should never be reduced to mere pixels on a screen?

As soon as he meets Dexter Girf, Simmons immediately understands why he'd gotten sent to Blood Gulch which he completely hates. He stares up at the ceiling listening to the snores of his commander and Grif, going over the reason in his mind.

He's there to make up for Grif's laziness with his ordinariness, not for whatever official reason that is in his records.

But he's also there because destiny it seems has led him to his future partner's side, which he would probably deny if asked by anyone if they asked him why he stayed in that canyon for so long with these people instead of requesting a transfer out of the canyon.

When Pennyworth saw Bruce in the Batcave, he cleared his throat and recited; "There was a young lady, Miss Kyle. Who could not stay but a while. She had her fun. But she had to run. And she did so with much style."

Bruce turned to look at him. "What?"

"Miss Kyle had to leave, with regrets." Alfred explained. "Oh. Why didn't you just say so?" Bruce replied.

WOW heartbreaking!!! Thank you so much. I stopped reading the franchise after HoO ended but this sent me into a spiral of reading ToA spoilers and uhhh whoa might need to catch up now? Damn. Forever emotional here about Piper McLean. <3

Amazing. Probably not as dirty as 'Miss Kyle' would write it, but perfect for Alfred's deadpan humor.

(I saw this movie for the first time last night: a.) wow, and b.) I'm still cackling every time I think of Alfred showing up - "Sir, shall we change the channel to a program with some dignity and class? The Love Connection, perhaps?" indeed. And that formal note to decline the children's 'attendance' at the Penguin's murder spree sewer soiree, signed the Bat - you just know Alfred's influence was at work there in some fashion.)

I like how Alfred is so prepared here, so ready for whenever there might next be opportunity for him to relay Miss Kyle's message in her preferred format, and Bruce is so. so. oblivious. It makes me wonder about all the other times Alfred has chosen to exercise his sense of humor on Bruce over the years, and when Bruce has (and memorably hasn't) started to pick up on it.
