Word count whoa

Having posted my remix draft (phew and full of typos but getting there) and Star Husband, it occurs to me that I've posted/written around 13,000 words of fiction in a week.  That's... not counting the several more thousand of professional work.  I used to write 10K a week for weeks at a time and I keep thinking, how did I do that?  Oh wait, I know!
I can trace my decline in fiction to 3 things:
  • November 27, 2013 when President Obama signed the Drug Quality and Security Act into law.  I've been behind ever since -- when I teach my class, I say that in the gridlocked Congress there are two ways to get laws passed -- 10 years of negotiations among highly disparate competing coalitions to hammer out a compromise and lots of dead people in red states.  That law had both. It is my life.
  • An increasing emboldening of certain elements in the Narnia fandom particularly with Flee From Memory that were really demoralizing
  • And that those same elements signaled a rising tide of ugly that resulted in the US November 2016 election and my personal tailspin thereafter

Anyway, onwards.  RL work remains unrelenting so much so that any time I try to write fiction is really and truly keeping me from other things.  Which I must return to now!

I keep the essential message of that second chapter of Star Husband close -- resistance is hard, and you will lose but you have to keep going and no, that's not madness, but hope.  Hope is a radically subversive action.

NFE (2 stories partially started but much to do) and Xovering are next.  I'm hugely grateful to Snacky for the NFE extension as it let me better manage my badly managed time.

Okay, it was worth going back onto DW after much too long, to read those magic words "I've posted/written".

I have far less reason than you for radio silence (but she's thriving, and chattering away, and showing an alarming preference for mainstream literature, but that's okay as it's the other half's turn to read "Busy Nursery" to her tonight).

Yes! (though things might be a bit lively over here next spring, if the clowns in charge of Brexit are really as incompetent as they seem. Government by throwing custard pies in faces while ignoring the wheels falling off all the cars has very little to recommend it - but then I watch the news from the US, and think I'd rather be plunged into total chaos by a bunch of complete idiots than have to deal with the outright nastiness that you seem to be wading through daily). Sorry. You probably don't want to have to deal with that.

Does Spawn have a particular university in mind? Those semester abroad arrangements are wonderful things, and I hope he manages to get it sorted.

Went back to the OUMNH last week and thought of you.
