Checking in from not-quite Hoth

Unlike previous years when we were socked with snow, ice and no power, the Wham NAM Storm (referring to the NAM model that persistently predicted MOAR SNOW) has delivered something like 10+ inches (25 CM give or take) and now a lovely coating of ice on top of that. For all you weather geeks I strongly recommend the Capitol Weather Gang which if you access it from Twitter or Facebook will usually let you in behind the paywall. For any of you swimming away in SE England, roasting in drought-parched CA or Australia, or dealing with the historic ice storm in SE US, UGH and I hope you stay safe and have sufficient distractions and power.

Spring cannot come fast enough! I've made it into work this morning trudging through the narrow, snow-filled valleys where previously shoveled paths were up until last night.
