I've *never* been able to swoon at the pond scene, much as I love that movie otherwise, because my first instinct is and ever shall be 'ewww, murky pond germs dead algae DYSENTERY' because I have been in water like this - accidentally - and it was vile and I'd never ever jump into such a pond voluntarily. (*cough* I also may have written stories where Darcy dies in ponds.)
