I HAVE I HAVE I HAVE and aekajepworij how much do I love the implications in it about Orpheus? His arrogance, his ruthlessness - but then the way it's phrased always makes me think about how Orpheus, who enchants everyone and everything with his music, is so enchanted and obsessed with Eurydice that he cannot help but look back at her. I love retellings that critique the way he decides for her and then fails her, and I love ones that have her fall in love with the underworld and not need him and it not be tragic when she goes back, but I also adore how ultimately, they are pretty equal, they are mutually destructive despite and because of their love.
