Somehow I never thought of fusing fandom and mythology before! \o/ This has been pretty awesome!

I liked Penelopiad in a sort of a shallow way (it is a good tale, and there's a chorus, whee!) but in general I feel that it was a more complex work than I got on a first reading, and on a second, my feelings about it got pretty complex too. No such thing as a clear-cut heroine, in that one.
