I have a HUGE THING this week on Friday. If nothing else, at my age, I should have the right to respond to people, "I refuse to do things that you think are 'good for me' as that always means 'convenient for you' and 'very unpleasant for me.'" I think I'll bring snacks. Just because you teaching 50 adult professionals doesn't mean they don't like snacks the same way 8 year olds do. How can you go wrong with candy bars?
A huge thanks to those who commented in the last post. It took me a week to write 3,000 words which is so depressing but I finally have a draft of Morgan and The Talk.
“No thing of this world is perfect, Morgan. Sometimes we love things because of their imperfections and sometimes in spite of them.”
As with the comment about not getting lost, she didn’t think Aslan wasn’t just speaking about trees, Trees, and pollen. “Can we sit, sir? If I try to walk and read my notes and talk, I’ll trip.”
“You will not stumble if you walk with me, Morgan.”
No question this time. “You do that a lot, don’t you?” she countered but did keep on walking.
“And what is that?”
“Be metaphorical. Or, saying one thing and meaning that and something else besides. Can’t you ever just speak plainly and give a simple yes or no?”
“Yes,” the Lion replied.

I concluded that there would be a LOT fewer wars in the world if such lollipops were distributed at the beginning of all major negotiations. Possibly also all meetings of NATO and the UN.

You can get the Sees pops around here at the shopping malls... I just can't see getting to the mall between now and Friday morning. But, this does give me a brilliant idea as lollipops wonderfully demonstrate the principle that even a lollipop can be a regulated medical product depending on what you say about it. If it's in conjunction with the stick for xerostomia (dry mouth) it's probably an FDA-regulated medical device requiring something complicated. And OMG it's hot out.

I'm not sure about their potential for preventing wars, though. What if there weren't enough salted caramels to go round?

And yes, allllllllll the snacks. Life is so much better with snacks. Hope it goes well!
And the draft of the talk works well hun! And oh MORGAN. I love how she focuses on her notes and not falling over, and questions Aslan, its wonderful :DDD

And I like how Morgan understands the complexities of Aslan, and His speech, and is annoyed with it.

And snacks acquired. I'm so screwed.

I really like this excerpt. Aslan really can be kind of infuriating that way, talking in layers even when he sounds like he's saying something very simple and straightforward, and he has a tendency toward Pronouncements that can be disconcerting if you're not expecting it. Morgan's reactions feel very realistic and true to her character. :-)

Snacks acquired. I had a horrid thought -- what if someone in the audience is on this site? Eep. "I read your LJ about bringing snacks. Are you rthstewart?" Ooops
