David Duchovny Why Won't You Love Me?

So the memory is really gone but I think this was around the time of the XF Romantics Con at the Arlington Hilton Tower of Terror and Margarita Man?  Or did we sing this on public transportation during a Jade Con?

What appalls me is that this HD version of the Bree Sharp classic has been on YouTube since November and I didn't know about it.

Ms. Sharp said, "[The] song is about David, but it's also about the way fantasy and reality can blur, and how giddy, hot, and excellent that can be."

I could not agree more.  Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] snacky and [livejournal.com profile] cofax7 for mentioning this on Twitter.
Edit:  I'm getting all misty eyed remembering the Con where we watched every movie ODAE had ever appeared in, including all the naked ones (Velvet Goldmine, Pillowbook, etc) and the bad costume dramas and where he sang (Lipstick on my collar)

And so in honor of that, I'll just provide (again) sydsvaugh's wonderful update of It's Raining Men too

I have decided that I want this song played at my funeral. A more excellent fangirl ode has never been written.

speaking of funerals, do you have instructions on what to do with your laptop if you are hit by a bus? [livejournal.com profile] econopodder and [profile] knitress know they are supposed to throw mine in a river.

Dude, no, you need a fannish executor who will post all your unfinished outlines. *g* That way at least your readers will find out what was supposed to happen...

No way. THEY DIE WITH ME!!! I'M TAKING ALL THOSE HUNDREDS OF PAGES OF NOTES AND BOOKMARKS TO THE GRAVE!!!

Indeed. Or I believe crushing it under a steamroller was discussed as another option.

And yes, I remember for SURE that this song was sung at the XF con in the Hilton Tower of Terror. And I ALSO remember it being sung, to my eternal embarrassment (b/c as you know anything at all that sticks out in public embarrasses me to an embarrassing extent), on Metro . . . maybe on some other occasion, or maybe during that con....

I love you man! *SMILE*

It was the Arlington Con, because that's when I first me all you lovely people through the XF LuvFester contingent that I'd met the year before in Vancouver. Oh what beautiful friendships that one event created...

My dear friends Marty and Sheryl know to get every computer I own before anyone else gets them in the sad case of my demise. :) Has been that way since I started shipping this fandom what seems like just yesterday.

How much do I still love (a visible, less grainy) version of DD. And now that I have set myself a mission to really learn Final Cut Pro this summer ... I think some more vidding might be in store too!

Don't taunt us, girl. We've turned prompting into a Olympic sport before!

I do believe it was during LuvFest '99, right before I went off to college. And my mom let me take the Metro to come hang out with you guys ALL BY MYSELF but I had to haul around the giant cell phone, just in case.

I'm pretty sure we sang it on Metro.

Because we were ALL axe murderers.... who dressed up action figures in Barbie clothes.

I believe there were tiny ice skating costumes involved as well. 1999 was a good year.

[identity profile] econopodder.livejournal.com 2012-06-13 12:32 pm (UTC)(link)
And we walked you to the Metro so you could truthfully tell your mom that we'd done so!

There were tiny ice skating costumes. And muscular Qui-Gon 12" action figures. And little Obi Wan action figures doing unspeakable things atop hot fudge sundaes at the Rock Bottom Brewery. Ah, good times.

Sorry, obviously that last one was meant to be on brightcupenny's post. Rthstewart we did *not* walk to the Metro. :-)

Tiny Obi-Wan was in an ice skating dress. I remember [livejournal.com profile] raykel weeping over it. So we did have 12 inch Qui-Gon by then? It was later that we would go into fabric stores and by tiny squares of plush velvets and sequins and make the clerks wonder when we would say things like "He would look gorgeous in this."

[identity profile] econopodder.livejournal.com 2012-06-13 12:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Correct. The '99 con was the one where my eyes got all big and round the first time somebody took off Qui-Gon's shirt, making me earn my title of Admirer of Well-Muscled Action Figures.

Damn you, woman

[identity profile] econopodder.livejournal.com 2012-06-13 12:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Now I can't stop singing this song.
